Selling Web design service on ebay?

Hello! I'm started a new WordPress website design service and I've had some success locally and figured I could try out eBay internationally.

I can't seem to figure out, what to add in the shipping and package weight part?? I went ahead a put some random figures but no luck selling obviously.
Does anyone have experience selling services on eBay?

And could you guide on how to list a design service and get traffic(sale)?

Thanks!

Ebay buyers are cheapskates, it'll be hard making money from them.

If you try to sell websites on Ebay you will have to compete with all those people selling websites for $5. I don't think you will get anywhere on Ebay and you are better off using Craigslist/Backpage ads or making your own site and paying for traffic.

As for shipping and package weight on Ebay, just select that shipping is free and then it wont ask for those things.

But they are still people offering custom design work on ebay. They just offer it at low price.

ebay seems like a strange place to offer web design in my opinion, you should be marketing yourself in places where people who are looking for web designers will be, not on a platform dedicated to auctioning products. Spread your self around, create accounts on all the main freelance platforms, buy ad placements in relevant places: like on this forum for example..

The whole point of using WP is to avoid designers. So right there you are fighting an uphill battle by positioning yourself as a WP designer. Learn legitimate web development skills (or at least sell pre-fab WP templates on the template marketplaces) and you'll get a lot better clients.

eBay is a ghetto for design services. A lot of third world designers on there who just want to make $5.

Where else do you think I can get clients?

the effort you will put in and the revenue you will get out will not add up, If your going to use those venues, think of inexpensive services that you can offer quickly, that head with your services, then at least you have them in your sale funnel and can offer them your main services.

But like everyone already said, it's not the best place to market your wares lol.

good Luck and all the best

      Rhoda,

New Internet business owners would be a logical audience for web site design services. The Warrior Forum is definitely a place to try to sell your services. You might also try the other "freelance" service web sites - there are many.

As far as a platform to showcase and sell your designs . . .

I would look for a "portfolio" type web site - for instance, a site that an artist or a photographer would use to display their work. One that is good at displaying graphic files. Then you can take screen shots of your various designs to give prospects an idea of your design capabilities. You can always add "buy now" buttons to each design and deliver your files with a simple service like e-Junkie or GumRoad.

      The very best to you,

      Steve

In eBay If anyone purchase product/service you will receive payment immediately. It really doesn't matter what it is.But, you need to deliver it on time. If not then you need to face negative reviews and disputes.

A lot of weird and outright wrong comments in this thread. It's a good idea. Here's why. eBay allows you to post a classified ad listing and it will show up alongside the auctions and buy it now listings.

You pay $10 for the ad and it runs for 30 days. It's not subject to the same rules as auctions and buy it now listings. You can put anything you want in the ad including an endless number of images (thumbnails of your work) and links to your portfolio or anything else you want.

And contrary to what people here are saying, there are A LOT of people shopping for Web services on eBay. Yes, many of them are bargain hunters but not all. Considering you're paying well under $.50 a day for so much exposure it's a steal. I've gotten several excellent service providers from eBay over the years.

I had a 10+ year relationship with one and was very disappointed when he went out of business. You can spend ten bucks to have another line in the water and stand to easily make it back before the listing expires. It's an excellent idea.
