Need your help in Domain Flipping.

Hi Warriors,

I was just thinking of domain flipping few days ago and I bought some 3 domains to try my luck.

I would like to know if these domains are worth the value that I have listed on Flippa?

I have three domains with me and if I can sell at least one of them in the next few days, I would consider again to buy and sell domains. If you have some suggestions on domain flipping ideas and the potential in domain flipping, please help me out. For now, I have just listed these domains on Domain Catalogue, but would consider to sell it in domain section after getting your opinion and the price I should place for these domains.

  • I don't have good news, skypreet.

    You'll have trouble flipping those domains. Zero to limited value and, aside from the third, zero to limited usability.

    I've been domaining for 21 years come this September, have written many guides, coached many students. If those domains had real value, I'd let you know. Heck - I'd buy them.

    I would return to the drawing board. Learn what constitutes a valuable domain and learn how to find and register them.

      I think I should do ground work first before buying and selling domains.I thought they might be picky domains but not.
  • I agree with Tom, except for one of the domains. AllHomeInsurance.com, although a little awkward, could fetch the $500 you're asking. It's a very useable domain for an insurance broker specializing in offering many home insurance plans.

    You'll find disagreement about domains quite often, even among very experienced domainers, so never take one opinion to heart. Different domainers have different experience in many different markets.

    You probably won't find a buyer just by listing it somewhere though. You'll have to contact potential buyers directly.

    • Gene gives great advice, Skypreet. He and I disgree on the insurance domain, but like Gene says, this is the norm among domainers. The truth is, every domain has the potential to sell. Something is worth what someone else is willing to pay. I would take Gene's advice and get proactive. A passive approach to selling is what I do when I can't sell a domain on my first attempt. It's a backup. The first strategy is to begin making direct contact.

    • Gene speaks wisely. Some domains will have people lining up to buy them, like HomeInsurance.com

      However, others you have to find someone who will buy it. Then your workload becomes higher, because just listing it will not get you the money you desire.

    I think your overpricing your domains. I believe your minimum offer on the wildlife domain is VERY VERY high. Have you looked into the .cc market to see what those domains under that extension are selling for? It's always good to do some market research into what extensions usually sell for to get a good idea at what you pricing strategy should be.

    On the flip side, a domain is worth what someone is willing pay...so I guess you never know.

    I've sold some domain names on flippa before. I've had more success with websites over there though. I think you need to look into the domain industry a bit more and get better at picking out valuable domains. I think after a few solid months you should get better at which to buy and which to hold out on.

  • I agree that the insurance domain might have potential for some, but you'll need to be very lucky to sell it at that price.

    Domaining can be a very profitable business, but you'll need a lot of cash to start, and a very good insight in the business to determine what makes a domain valuable. If not the odds are stacked against you to make some serious money and reduce the luck factor.

    The thing I am still figuring out is, if the domains have all those good keywords, why it is so difficult to sell it? I have this domain AllHomeInsurance.com and Wildlife.cc. If you see I believe the first domain name has two awesome keywords(home Insurance- except All). So does that mean, the keyword "All" will not interest buyers and hence it might be tough to sell?

    Also, the other one Wildlife.cc. I know it has .cc extension but that has one good keyword in it. Are buyers only searching for .Com domains?

    Are buyers only looking for domains having full keywords in it? If it so, then why is that 4 letter domains(which don't have keywords at all) are getting sold for such a huge price. May be because they are hard to find nowadays???

    One more thing is that, what happens when your domains don't get sold, do you contact buyers directly? How do you search them.

    • Because value is not about keywords necessarily. "HomeInsurance.com" is clearly a very valuable domain.

      As soon as you add a word that is mostly meaningless, the value goes down the drain. Why would anyone pay a premium price, when they can easily add one of a thousand different words to the main keyword and register it for $10?

      Usually, Yes.

      Because the four letters may be an acronym for their business, and therefore a very short and memorable, easy to type domain name. And, yes, they are hard to find decent ones.

      Contact potential buyers directly regardless. That's always the best approach to selling domain names. Google is your partner.

  • You want your domains to be:

    Pronouncable
    Brandable
    Spellable
    A .com

    Always follow these rules and you'll find success.

    I also recommend trying your luck with Sedo.com as they connect directly to the registars when people search for domains.

    personally feel none of them are worth real money, you might get a few bucks but nothing specail. If you want to sell them for those prices you will need to promote them a lot more

    • Hi hinadeane.. I listed one of my domain in Flippa auction just to test it out if I can get some bids on it and sell it for some good money. The domain got some bids on Flippa but haven't met the reserve price. So, as Gene, Omar and Tom suggested I planned to sell only to right buyer rather than selling the domain for few bucks.

  • i see just two names, which tells me you may have sold the other already.

    My thoughts:

    Crawler Access - Would probably need to develop this name into something to add any real value to it.

    Constrain.org - does not fit very well with org extension imo, however, ne word org's seem to hold some value, not saying you will definitely get your $500 asking price but if you sit long enough and promote the domain through social media you may get an offer close to asking price.
