I am looking to get back into writing and creating content and have tried all the freelance mills I used to write on and have had no luck. I am not a top of the line writer, but I can write pretty well I feel. I do have articles online at sites like Ezines and am wondering if anyone can help me get back into writing.

I have been able to charge $1 per 100 words for the last few years, and would like to be able to make at least an extra $500 to $1,000 a month if possible writing content. I work part time but my hours are being cut and I want to look more into writing online. Can anyone help me out?

    Hi there,

Have you thought about 'guest writing?' So writing content for other peoples blogs/websites... It would not bring money in straight away but it would help boost your exposure and authority online. Which means further down the road you could then offer your services and charge people for writing....

That was just an idea, hope it helps a bit

The "freelance mills" used to provide great opportunities before the days of Panda and Penguin. Articles on those sites were easy to rank well back in the day.

You may want to try sites like Fiverr to look for writing gigs. You can also write for yourself. There are many ways to monetize a blog or a website.

      I agree with Nathan673.

I started out writing stuff for my own blog that no one ever visited and I had no authority whatsoever.

I worked on my writing skills, got my writing in to major brands like Huffington Post and Fast Company Magazine, and now the rest is history!

It's not always about what you make on the front end, but what you make on the back end

PM me, I may be able to help out

    Hi W,

Work for free Write guest posts for authority blogs in your niche; this primes the abundance pump, meaning paid opportunities will flow your way through your persistent, free giving. Also, check ProBlogger's job board and more than anything keep writing to boost your confidence in yourself and your craft, and then money will find you.

Oh yeah, do about 30 to 60 minutes of personal development on waking. Meditate, visualize and affirm to root out those money blocks

How does your Hire Me page look? Feel free to message it to me, and I'll offer my take. Oh yeah, I'm a pro freelance writer among other things and have been for a minute

I'd recommend ELance and Problogger's job board. On ELance there's a lot of work available plus a lot of competition, but once you start getting some work and you get some good reviews you can usually end up getting a lot more work than you can handle.

Problogger always has a lot of work and I've had some very high paying gigs from there but you might sometimes have to wait a few weeks before anything comes up that you have the expertise to apply for.

This post might possibly help: it explains the three "key concepts" of writing articles for clients, and has about 15 links to other threads/sites/places for further information: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post9821533

Do you have any experience at all with owning a domain, having a hosting account, and an autoresponder (GetResponse or AWeber)?

I ask only because years ago, I stumbled onto this forum looking for self-publishing ideas or ways I could try to make money with my writing passion. Being stubborn, I never took action writing for others, but rather sought out those who were ' banking' from their writing craft.

Any way, to make a long story short... The entire sales funnel ( to generate income from writing) I've settled on shouldn't take that long to see results, now that I understand there's 3 main ingredients...

1.) Drive traffic (written ads, social media, article marketing, guest blogging, etc...just to name a few)

2.) A one page website with either a powerful and compelling landing page or a simple 'Squeeze Page' offering something in exchange for the visitor to take a specific action such as watch free video, join newsletter, or download a free ebook...inexchange for their name & email address.

3.) Once you determine your niche ( or targeted audience) and you have their attention...you can email them, build relationships around their needs, guide them to the solution they seek, etc.

What's important is the message you convey (with your writing) and if done correctly, you can sell your services (for more money), promote relevant affiliate products, and/or create your own...like ebooks, training courses, how to's or just encapsulate your audience in a blog, book, or mindset to where they (grow in number) and so then does your ability to market to them...or monetize your efforts.

It's really no different than the content or writing you are doing for others at $1 per 100 words...only now you are building your own business, clientele, and revenue streams...whereby if done correctly can lead to recurring monthly income streams.

Another words, you get paid for your writing efforts over-and-over again, as opposed to getting paid 1x and hunting another gig.

Naturally, it takes time to put it together, so doing $5 gigs on fivver, or writing web content or articles for others is commendable...just try and devote some of those writings to building your own audience too.

    All the Best,

    Art

You can try selling your writing on Fiverr, create a Udemy course on how to create content or both. There are probably other platforms you can sell your writing on. Good luck!

Someone looking for good content is going to blow right by a writer charging a penny a word, regardless of how good you are. Put up a site and a portfolio and start charging five cents a word and believe you can get it. And stay away from low rent venues.

I'd simply set up a profile on elance, fiverr and other similar sites. Make sure to browse through everyday and come up with a competitive and impressive profile while pitching your ideas.

Set up a tone in your expertise, mention your niche. For example, if you are good at writing on fashion, food or marketing, explain how you can provide extraordinary content in these areas. Make sure to tweak your profile everyday until you think it looks perfect and someone is ready to hire you.

Well if you have a passion for writing, I would suggest creating content for yourself.

What I mean by that is, create books, websites, anything you can think of. This will allow you to make money from your work for years to come.

Simply trading your service for an hourly rate is as bad as a job. Now if you're in need of many badly then yes I suggest :
    Buy & Sell Unique Content - GhostBloggers™
    http://textbroker.com

As I've written & bought articles from both.

I agree with this. OP is charging $1 for 100 words. Imagine someone wants a 700 word article on a niche subject. It's going to take at least 2 hours to research it and then probably 2-3 hours to write it. That's $7 for 4-5 hours work - less than $2 an hour....

If you're a good writer, then you should use those skills to build up a passive recurring income for yourself, niche sites with affiliate links or adsense ads, write an ebook and sell it.

Native English speakers who write well should be raising their prices not dropping them. There is a market out there for people who are sick and tired of getting crap articles written in broken English and who are prepared to get some quality articles and pay a decent wage for them.

Have you tried putting a ad in the classified section here in the warrior forum? I looked at some of the ads for writing service there and many of them seem to have quite a bit of views. Maybe you should try and place a ad there.

Other option might be iWriter. You will NEVER have need of incoming article requests there lol

I strongly recommend you invest in "Writer's Market 2015" and study the first 50 or so pages. This book is essentially a directory of publications, and some are willing to pay more than $1 per word.

The beginning of the book will give you very good advice as to how the approach publications, and how to maximize your income. You could very well syndicate one article to tens/hundreds of publications and accumulate significant money over time. I've never done it for those purposes, but I've had publications interested in my articles - many paying more than you'd ever get from freelance sites.

Alternatively, look into Constant Content, and profusely study how to write articles. Make sure they're good quality and you can earn quite quickly. However, they are very picky in that you can be permanently suspended if your articles aren't of high enough quality. This happened to me, but I decided to go back a few weeks ago and explain my situation, and my account suspension was revoked a few days later.

And, make sure you listen to Alexa, and read that link. You may not understand it or appreciate it right now, but she's right.

    Don't screw up.

Set up a WSO right here and give away some free articles. You will need 10 great reviews to get things to take off. I have seen some people give away an article to each person. You could do this until you get enough reviews.

        Have some good samples ready.

There are several writing WSOs that have done extremely well here. Just check them out to get an idea.

Offer a package deal like 10 articles for $40. This is just an example.

Not a typo. It's not uncommon for magazines/newspapers to pay such prices.

The articles need to be top quality though!

    Hello wordsuwant09,
I got here late. If you want clients that would be able to pay you $25 upward, then try this out using any of the popular search engines.

Webdesign firm newyork or seo companies"location". You'll see lots of them both on the search and sponsored listings.Look for their contacts and pitch your service to them. But,it would be fine if you have a blog or website to showcase your writing samples.

If you are strap for cash, register a domain and link it using blogger.I believe that will do just fine. If you want more ideas for locations to target, check craiglist. And you'll get more firms to target.

    Hey wordsuwant,
If you really think highly of yourself and your abilities you will charge more than Peanuts.

IMO, you are pricing yourself too low.

I think you can get more than that.
