I don't understand why everyone is talking about unboxing all of a sudden like it's a new thing. People have been doing unboxing on Youtube for years.

  Used to watch unboxing videos when I was a little younger (18-22) a few years ago where I was new to buying stuff online and buying kinda regularly from Amazon.
  
  Guess it was always kinda interesting to see what exactly came in the box (accessories, extras, etc...) and sometimes people would set up the product right out of the box (usually saving me time from reading the manual right away).
  
  I've noticed many people who do "unboxing" "review" or "how to" videos in a specific niche get a lot of views and subscribers. so in a sense it can be profitable if your an affiliate for the product. But again, this is nothing new...

She keeps asking "why", but I think we all know the answer: because it's profitable!
It's such an easy way to make money! You're gonna open that box anyway! (or whatever the package is) Film yourself while doing it, post in on YouTube and voilà! You're earning money.

Call it stupid - and it is stupid how much money they're making from something so simple - but they're actually really helpful to people like me who mull over a purchase for days

It's nice to feel assured buying something after seeing someone open the box and NOT go: "What the hell is this? It's nothing what the ad shows it to be!"
