People want it done for them

Whatever people need to do in life or in business, a good percentage of them would rather have someone else do it for them.

I don't like to create graphics. I suck at making graphics first of all, that's the major reason for someone else to do it, but even with things I can do well, sometimes I want to push a button and have it done for me.

I think there is unlimited potential to provide services that others don't want to do and they don't all have to be technically challenging. Mowing a lawn is easy technically, but I hire someone to do it. Others would argue I could save money, get exercise, get outside, and enjoy the experience if I mowed my own lawn. All being true except perhaps the "save money" part I still don't wish to cut my own lawn.

There are lots of things people in IM need help with and they keep asking questions here looking for someone that can do this or that. If you are good at something, love it, and want to help others you might must have a good income niche if you like trading time for money. Sometimes you have to trade time for money in the beginning.

Some things I can think of off the top of my head are:

Installation of software
Tweaking WordPress and other themes
Setting up hosting accounts
Creating landing pages
Writing blog posts
Writing blog comments
Managing PPC accounts
Doing market and keyword research
Posting on forums
Listing in directories
Doing valid link checks
Setting up autoresponder sequences
Doing customer support
.....

There are more I'm sure. If you are looking for some way to create instant income, perhaps you should consider a service for a while.

    I have to agree Scott.

There are plenty of people who want the whole shebang done for them from the site, to the graphics, copy, video etc.

I do think that people should have enough knowledge to be able to explain what they're looking for from a provider but more importantly to ensure that the estimates they get "look" right for the work provided.

You're right, Scott. I believe that most people, given the opportunity, would "hire out" just about every task they don't feel like, or don't have the time to do. Problem is most of us don't have the finances to pay someone else. But if you're going to pay someone, it's important that you know a little about every job you farm out if you want to get your money's worth...if that makes sense. (If not, have a great day anyway!)

    Hi Scott

Thanks for the great post. You are absolutely right.

Also, our time may be better spent by hiring out what we cannot or don't want to do and concentrating on what we are good at or very interested in.

I do believe you should know enough about what you want to outsource to be able to set your specs well and to understand how much you should be paying for a given project.

and now, I think you can add Socia Media, Twitter etc. to the list. Businesses are becoming more aware of social media and want someone show them how to do it and even do it for them.

    True Post Scott,

The biggest gripe many have is when they buy an eBook and then say, "Everything in this eBook can be found on the web for free." I think many times this statement is made AFTER they read the book and then search to see if the Information is already there. Using of course the key words in the eBook to do the searching.

I won't commit to saying 100%, however I think 90%+ of everything in any eBook or hard copy Book for that matter, can be found for free on the Internet.

When an author does the research and puts all the "free" stuff in an eBook or book under one cover, many don't mind paying for that service. Every word in the English language can be found for free on the Internet. Some people still buy dictionaries.

The first negative post I can remember being posted on the Warrior Forum almost 10 years ago was from a disgruntled member who was trashing an eBook written by another Warrior that had "Information that can be found for free." Most other Warriors were happy with the eBook because it was well researched and pleasant/fun to read.

I've never understood this argument either. I won't hesitate to buy a book or video that can save me some time, money, or energy!

Could I figure out how to install new tile in my bathroom on my own? Probably, but I'd rather pay for a book or video with clear instructions.

Could I write my own fiction novels for entertainment? Sure, but I'd rather read other authors - I like to be surprised.

Another thing that some of these complainers forget - you're not just paying for the information itself, but rather the author or creator's experience, insight, and creativity.

My products are in niches where there are plenty of other products on the same topic. What makes them unique? I share plenty of myself in those books - my own experiences, insights I've picked up along the way, tips that I think will really help the reader to apply the information in their own lives, etc. That stuff can't be found for free online. The basic info itself maybe, sure, but not my own unique perspective and experience.

That's not to say that other people don't also have their own unique perspective and experience, but it won't be exactly like mine.

I agree with the ebook comments. Gosh.. if we could only publish a thought, a concept. a formula, or technique once ever, that would really limit progress. How many text books have the very same periodic table of elements? How many movies have the same plot? How many courses teach the same topic?
