Two Words That Can Make You Millions Or Kill Your Business...

Question: What is the number 1 thing (two words) that your customer desperately wants... and at the same time, wipes out most Internet Marketers?

The answer is: Instant Gratification.

Think about it...

All your customer wants is instant gratification; a magic bullet; an instant solution to their pain.

Find out what it is, and you can make millions. That's what the most successful marketers do.

And yet...

It's also the number 1 reason why so many fail at this business.

Here's why...

After an absence of over 1 year from the forum (spent building an offline business), the questions asked on here are almost the same... the same as they were 8 years ago... and no doubt, the same that will be asked in 20 years from now.

Why does this happen?

Quite simply, it's because (my opinion) too many people enter this industry and seek instant gratification.

In other words, they enter with a customer mentality. For whatever reasons, they just want a solution to their financial needs... quick, easy and with little effort.

It's probably why they go about buying product after product... and never really applying themselves to a single model or solution.

So what is the solution?

Firstly, you gotta step out of your customer mindset... lose the instant gratification attitude.

Secondly, you have to be prepared to pay the price for success. That means effort, work and patience.

Remove all that instant riches garbage from your brain and reset it. Play the long game and think long term. Frankly, if you are desperate for cash then this is the wrong business to be in. Try selling a service in your spare time.

Thirdly, take the time to think about what you want to do and achieve. Then learn, learn and learn.

But most importantly...

Be the Gratifier - Not the Gratification seeker.

Become the person who provides the solution... not the person always seeking a solution.

Be the one who gets paid and not the one who is always paying!

    Sal,

    On a related note . . .

What you have just said is exactly why you will make way more money if you figure out how to give folks "done for you" solutions than if you try to teach them how to do something for themselves.

  • Just wanted to chime in and say: instant gratification is how you want to treat your customers.

People want a solution, and you give it to them. This could be done in any way or form, whether it be a PDF file, video training, or a complete solution, you make sure that people are getting instant gratification. Good pint you made here.

Being I too was gone for nearly a year from the forum, I agree all the same questions are in a seemingly constant quest to find the shortcut, easy method, or instant cash influx.

Unlike offline businesses, whereby the worker is conditioned to see results within 1-2 weeks of their efforts, many newcomers to the internet generally bring that same expectation to the table. But, when you suggest (to many instant gratification seekers) they can offer services... In exchange for a wage - they really don't want to hear that... They want guru money because tbey watched a couch potatoe turned millionaire video, and got sucked into the hype!

I have shelfed at least 5 products that would likely do well here...and yet, I don't want to prey on those who do not possess the skills to actually benefit from the product. It almost seems too easy to focus on the trigger points beginners are looking for...and yet, I am more concerned that the product be recieved as it was intended- to help them build a real business on the internet.

And as you mention, most dont want to be helped or guided to the real solution... They want the winning lottery ticket instead...

    Hi Sal,

    Great points here.

I'd say, work from a place of freeing yourself, and of freeing your audience, and you'll never lack for everything. You won't be looking to GET because you'll feel amazing just GIVING, freeing you and freeing your audience, and then, the GETTING happens quite naturally.

I work light. I do work, but I enjoy writing, and connecting, and even though I spent some time being obsessed over outcomes when I just learned to be focused on having fun doing what I was doing the business growing stuff happened so much more easily.

Follow what you love doing, and keep doing that, and keep purifying your intent, and note how much you have and you can't help but to rock it out.

    Thanks for the smart share!

Great post it really got me thinking. I agree most people enter the IM space seeking quick cash. Just as people enter the stock market, gambling, real estate, or precious metals looking to make a quick buck. What you said from the customers perspective got me thinking also. I'm going to start thinking more about this concept of "instant gratification" when writing sales copy and marketing.

I may be harsh for saying this but if someone wants instant gratification they DO NOT deserve to make money on their own time in marketing. They are lazy and are not willing to put any work.

They should go buy a new tv for instant gratification. Consume that product until it dies before buying another one. Heck maybe I will just sell consumer products instead of info products and money making systems....

I was thinking what if you sell dire things that people need everyday like I don't know....FOOD lol. Don't you think it would absurd if you had oranges up for sale and a prospect asked....how do these oranges work??? Better yet....Does this really work or is it a scam????

    Lmao.

You are not being harsh at all.

    It's the cold hard truth.

SteveB summed it up when he says that people want it all done for them... and that is the key - even if it is off topic here.

Understanding your prospect's needs and wording your marketing message correctly are critical.

I am currently reading one marketing book every few days. Just to refresh. MAybe people need to move away from the internet and just learn marketing?

Because when you do that, you soon realize what it really takes to succeed.

Most people cannot be bothered to learn and test until they find the right formula for them.

We have to step out of instant gratification and put ourselves on the other side of the sales counter.

    Nice input folks.

Many do seek instant gratification, like you said, they are too lazy to put in the work but expect immediate results. And, just like you said, the same issues surface now, as they did years ago, and the same issues will be discussed 20 years from now...
