Which Niche is More Profitable: Sports vs. Gaming?

Which have you had more success in, and which is easier to build a list in. Sports is pretty vague, and there are many mico-niches like 'sports teams/fans' (Seahawks, Pats Fans) and actual sports like 'football', 'basketball', and with gaming, there are thousands of individual games you can build a list around and target, so which route would you prefer to take?

    Neither is a niche, Nicolas.

They're both markets, and absolutely huge ones.

Niches within either of those markets can be perfectly profitable: profitability depends on the marketer, not on the niche. For me, quite possibly neither would be profitable at all because I have no real knowledge of them or interest in them. Which do you know about?

The easiest one for you to build a profitable list in will be the one in which you can give most value to your subscribers.

What produces income from lists is the extent to which the subscribers respect and trust you, and look forward to opening your emails, and that in turn obviously depends on your own abilities to give them value in whichever niche you choose.

I am very knowledgable in both markets, but have almost no experience marketing to their consumers.

Sounds like you have experience of being a consumer in both markets, though, perhaps? Which must be helpful at least to some extent?

Is there an area within one of them in which you think it might be easier for you to (a) write entertainingly, and/or (b) give people interesting information they can't easily find elsewhere online? Both of those things are quite good earnings-potential indicators, from list-building.

Another way you can look at it is in terms of "what products to promote", i.e. from the perspective of considerations like product availability, security/reliability of commission-payments, and so on. (For me, for example, the availability of low-gravity, higher-priced products on ClickBank, with decent non-hyped-up sales pages without video or leaks, is always a big plus, when choosing a niche, because I know those will be easily monetizable for me and that nearly 50% of my subscribers will buy one or more of them during the course of the automated email series I send out.)

A lot of gamers are kids under 18 who don't have a credit card or disposable income so that might be something you want to bear in mind.

So you've mentioned expressly, now, in 56 of the 152 posts you've made in this forum (and that's not even counting the deleted ones, nor the ones in which you haven't specifically used the word "game" but have just said "gaming"). I hope it's been helpful to you. Please excuse the observation that I suspect you and I may have some rather different views about forum marketing.
