IM world the next 5 years?

I remember back in 2009 when I had more time to learn and try different methods and different strategies. I remember how easy FB marketing was in 2010/2011 in terms of ads approval and wide range of ads variations. Some people made a killing in dating niches (and some still do but big players mainly).

Paid traffic was very cheap and SEO services, too (compared with the nowadays situation)

Somewhere after 2011 I quit AM and IM at all because I began something in completely different direction. In the beginning of 2015 I had to do a FB campaign for a client of mine (offline business) and when I read the terms of services and guide lines I was surprised how restricted FB become - first they rejected our lead page 3 times, it was very hard to reach them for more information. We fixed the issue (not enough text on the main page and poor user experience), but I noticed the clicks are a bit pricey now. I know 5 years is very long time but it seems they try to push away the small marketer away - the same with google. No dating offers ?!

And google - long tail keyword in not mainstream market above $2-$3? What?!
Back that in was comfortable to test even with a small budget. But now I see mainly whales profiting.

Article marketing is dead like Latin ..

Don't get me wrong. It is just a bit of a shock for me when I kinda like to come back now.. but I feel it is more hard than ever.

I mean literally it is flooded. Markets are so saturated that you have to have a BIG budget and hard bal** just to try. At least this is the way I see it - it is not ok to do IM as an "amateur" any more. May be amateur is not the right word but you get the point.

And buy the way, my biggest amazement is that the most quality information and the best IM courses which really delivered information was from the 2010-2012 range. When I try to reach information even in forums 90% of the time I'm sales pitched. Off course this was the same back than but I think there was more support and marketers really helped each other.

The fakes are so much that it is hard for a newbie to connect the dots, even though everything is still available..

So guys, sorry about the long post. Just it is a pain to see how things are going forward. May be it is just my angle.. I don't know. What do you think.. what is the trend - where the IM world is going to be in the next 5 years. I think it is quite difficult though there is more info than ever..

  • I don't have a clue where the IM WORLD Will be in the next five years.

It could go extremely well and things go for the better, or things get just a bit tougher for a lot of people. New things could change and be development with brand new game changers to reach the IM scene.

Any things did change in 2010, and a lot has changed since then, so who knows really what it'll be like in 2020 for the IM industry.

    Hi DP,

Internet marketing is as easy as it ever was

    Create value.

    Connect with leaders.

    Act inspired.

Detach from outcomes; as much as humanly possible.

    Rock it out.

Higher quality content demands, expensive ads for those who choose to pay for advertising, and the monopolization of all social profiles as each human being is a marketing target worth "x" amount to any comapny selling anything on planet earth and beyond (*hey name a star... buy a galaxy...own your own spaceship,etc...)

IMHO the broad term internet marketing applies to all products and services globally. As such, it will thrive as long as there is an internet connection. Of course, if you focus on providing quality information, good customer relations, and develop the skills to deliver solutions... you might own a nice chunk of virtual real estate in 5 years.

Will it start costing more to make more... probably, as is so with any business online or off.

In response to you, though, I'm guessing you've split tested all of your stuff thoroughly to come to the conclusions you have?

Or are you just guessing based upon what you hear on/off the forum?

As with anything else in this world, we'll all have to evolve with the times. In business, which is what most serious marketers have online, you have to take risks. It's a process of acting then observe to see what happens.

Saturation is just the appearance of a lot of people in the same market/industry. And technically it will always be around because evergreen markets will only become more crowded. Does that mean you shouldn't try and bring your best forward?

I see this as a challenge, and not a "oh it's too difficult, i shouldn't try" type of thing. But rather as a "now that i see the competition, i know how much better i have to be" situation.

I imagine that hobbyists look at IM very differently compared to business owners.

Things will always look hard, if that's the way you view change and evolution. You have to actively be a problem solver if you're going to make it in any business related setting. Never mind the online arena and IM.

This is not a criticism of your post, by the way. It's more of an exploration of what's really going on in your situation so that we can better discuss your view of IM.

I had the opportunity to test. Also I'm connected with some fellas from the past glory days. Some are deep in the business now, but they share the efforts cost them more white hair now When I see the stats and when compare the charts it is obvious. Any way.. adapt is the keyword and it has always been..

I think cost of traffic will continue to rise weeding more and more would be successes out of the im game COMPLETELY all while the gurus continue to shove shiny objects down the throats of newcomers to the game....

Offline direct sales will sky rocket!!! My prediction. If I am right do not call me the prophet.
    I'm just regular....

Internet business will almost certainly follow pretty much the same path as offline business has. The walmarts of the online world will put out many of the little guys as they dominate more and more.

But the truth is, i could make money with a single static page and never use google or fb just like i did back in 1995. There are other ways of getting massive traffic than google and fb.

I think app and saas based programs will become more common. So less software products and more cloud-based subscriptions for affiliates to promote.

Competition will always be out there. There is no doubt about that. What you will need to do is to figure out how to pay less for ads and still earn good profits.

When it comes to competition, you can bet that you will have more and more places to effectively advertise your business because more pay per click companies will be built and more good "traffic" websites will come on board and offer people real and legitimate traffic.

  • Next 5 years prediction??

I'm 99.99% sure this will come true and if you don't believe me read this in 2010.

    Here it is:

More regulations, more conforming to what you are told to do and more way to force you to do what they want you to do. More taxes.

Rest assured this will be true for IM. I hope it goes the other way but it has never done so.

Two of the most dynamic trends are the cost of entry into IM is dropping and product demand (particularly information) is rising more than ever before. However, the basic fundamentals of marketing and human nature perhaps will never change.

    I think Lexy might disagree

But seriously as some have said when it comes down to the most fundamental notion... well IM has really not changed at all.

And that notion is ,drum roll please...Building relationships with people and providing solutions to their problems.

    That will NEVER die out
