How to run useful split test?

Hello;

What are the best ways to "test"? Does it simply mean send traffic to 2 pages and see which one converts better?

My video product is ready to deliver but my marketing is NOT! I have signed up with Clickbank, setting up upsell pages etc etc.

I need some tips so I could make marketing proper.

Things I need to test are:

1 - Juggling between "optin page" vs "straight pitch"
2 - Video Vs Copy Vs both in pitch page

How do I test those? I learned I could offer a good deal to affiliates or I could spend a few hundreds and buy traffic.

But in order to do that I need to know exactly "how" I am testing, what am I looking for? If a page doesn't convert, is it :
1 - The colors?
2 - The video?
3 - The width?
4 - The copy?
5 - How long before I show the BUY now button?
6 - Video auto-play or not?
If I know that, then I could measure the results and make the right changes.

Please give me tips if you have any good ones

  • Just to give you a quick clarification, your goal should be to see which one gives you more sales. Which type of traffic gets you more buyer traffic, more leads, and makes you more money.

Try to split test and see which one out of 1,000 views from each campaign gets more success, and then start using the main system that has given you the most amount of results.

Buying traffic is cheaper, but you might want to reconsider doing that since that can be costly.

If the page doesn't convert, it could literally be any of the things you listed. Personally, I like to show the buy button early and often, but again you'll have to test. And it depends where you're traffic is coming from.

For example, if your traffic isn't "pre-sold" via an email list or an affiliate warming them up, then a buy button right off the bat could turn potential buyers away. But if they are pre-sold, they could be coming to your page ready to buy.

Testing between an "optin page" and a "straight pitch" would involve sending say 1000 people through each funnel. Users would opt-in, receive your pitch through a series of follow up emails and ultimately be given the chance to buy. They'd be warm leads. A straight pitch would involve sending essentially cold(er) leads to your page via solo ads, search engine traffic, etc and see if they buy. If I had to take an educated guess, I'd say that those who come in pre-sold from the opt-in page would be more likely to buy.

I would avoid auto-play just because I personally find it annoying as crap. (Personally, I prefer to read).

You would test video vs. text copy vs both text copy and video the same way. Send 1000 or so visitors through each one of those pages/funnels and check the results of opt-ins and/or buys.
