Should I ban customers from Antarctica?

JVZoo has a cool new feature where you can ban buyers based on country. One of the countries listed is Antarctica Has anyone had any fraud issues with Antarctica buyers? Anyone live there?

Sorry, but if you're in North Korea I just banned your butt.

Why on earth would you not sell to every country that could give you money? If someone gives me money, I take it. Mad not to isn't it?

      1. The laws of your country may prohibit software or certain products from being sold to specific countries.

      2. Some countries you will not be targeting for sales.

      3. Some countries are, frankly, bastions of fraud. But hey, if you like your PayPal account getting bombed with disputes and complaints from stolen IDs, being ripped-off, and seeing a hundred refund requests for every legitimate sale - by all means go for that one legit sale.

People from Antarctica aren't exactly 1st world. The few I HAVE encountered from there, to be honest, have been a bit cold...

Not saying they're ALL like that, but it's not been a very...warming experience so for me so far with their 2nd rate citizens.

  • I don't think it's necessary to block people from Antarctica from buying your product as I think the fraud rate is low but I do think you should look at countries with high fraud rates or places where it maybe illegal to sell your product and consider whether buyers from these countries should be blocked

but I have to ask what are you selling kindsvater

I will not attempt to answer your question, but I would ask you a couple of questions which come to my mind (partly due to my own ignorance about Antarctica) :

    1. Are there actually people living in Antarctica ? If yes, is the population there large enough to even be concerned about ?

    2. Do most of the people in Antarctica (the small population which may or may not actually live down there freezing their popsicles off) even have reliable internet service ?

      logic behind banning North Korea
I wouldn't think any explanation would be necessary for that one.

As for Antarctica, kind of a sparse market and a bit item specific I would think. Hand warmers and parkas might work - swimsuits and ice makers not so much. Delivery costs can be a problem....

This is a really mind baffling to me… Are you guys that dense? This is clearly sarcasm. Antartica is a giant iceberg Covered in penguins and polar bears, North Korea has about 100 people on the Internet, mostly high-ranking government officials. I seriously doubt any of them are looking at the latest Internet marketing launches

While you correctly detected the sarcasm, Antarctica is actually mostly land with an ice covering, not an iceberg and has no polar bears.

The North Pole/Arctic region seems to be what you're thinking of.

There are no polar bears in Antarctica.

I should offer a reward to the first person to buy one of my products from an Antarctica IP address.

Nah I know, just expanding on my sarcasm

Actually, the Audio/Video guy who records the webinars I do always offers a prize for the first person to call in from Antarctica, or a submarine LOL

Hasn't happened yet, needless to say

I DID do one of my webinars FROM a cruise ship in the caribbean once, which was kinda fun - but costly for the bandwidth

The permanent residents there are penguins. They don't have jobs or money, or internet access for that matter. So ban them or not; it makes no difference.

  • Most people on Antartica are America Citizens (McMurdo Navy Station for example and a few smaller). Also from a few other countries all first world. They all have government pay so you don't have to ban them just verify and you are all set.

This is an interesting thread so I did a bit of research for historical sales here at ClickBank. We have had a number of sales from Antartica over the years. If you do decide you want to target that market, you should focus on two categories: (1) Software technology products and (2) dating products.

And before the question comes in, no I am not kidding and the sales are in the thousands of dollars.

    Thanks,

I think the term you use is not quite appropriate and misused here. You are NOT really banning anyone and it is very derogatory in a sense. Hence, some of the responses in here.

I think it might be better to say that you are just not doing any Marketing in some areas of the World.
