Retargeting

Just a quick Q on retargeting to your own offer.

Lets say you have your own product (offer) on clickbank, cs, jvzoo, w+ etc and you set up a retargeting pixel on your sales page, then set up retargetting on places like facebook......when those customers go back to the sales page from the retargetting you have set up, do the affiliates that originally sent them to your sales page get the sale, or do you get the full sale?

    Yeah, as long as they're on the same computer - and haven't clicked ANOTHER affiliate link, they'll be yours.

    But when youre regargetting on FB - you use your affiliate link ANYWAYS - so you don't have to worry about it....

      This is the part that is a matter of preference and how much you value your affiliates.

      As an affiliate myself who spends money on traffic, I would hate for my cookie to be overwritten merely because the vendor is retargeting with their own affiliate link when they wouldn't be able to retarget that visitor had I not sent them there in the first place.

      But I understand why they do it, because it costs them money out of their own pocket to acquire the customer that I gave them the ability to retarget.

      Maybe the right thing to do would be to still pay the affiliate but maybe at a lower percentage because it essentially is costing the vendor more to acquire the customer in addition to the commissions that would have to be paid out.

      Just one of those things. I'm sure I lost a bunch of sales for this very reason.

    Normally the affiliate would still get the sale, unless the vendor purposely rewrites the cookie to stop the affiliate getting the sale. It would be worth checking with the vendor.

    If you are the vendor, I would recommend letting the affiliate get paid still, they got the person there in the first place. It's only right they should get the sale commission - even if you had to spend a bit of money on retargeting.

    ok all makes sense, thanks.

    i only ask as i have been following some luanches recently and sometimes the product creator will announce retargeting has started, and that the affiliates will start seeing sales.

    so generally when setting up retargeting pixel on your sales page, by default the affiliate will get the sale right?

    or do you have to change something in first place for the affiliate to get the sale?

    i was under the impression that only the vendor could set this up, as its his sales page?

    i take it, i am wrong?

      To do this, you can setup your own 'bonus' page where your list and vistors can learn about your bonus offer before clicking through to the jvzoo sales page.

          Or you put your pixel on the vendors sales page - however I doubt they will oblige unless you move a ton of weight.
