Emails sent from my domain at hosting company look amateurish

Hi
I am a newbie so if this question has done the rounds please forgive me.
The problem is that emails sent by me from my domain name using my hosting company's email service look very amateurish. I use hostmonster but I think others are much the same.
There seems to be no way to format the text before it is sent so it goes out looking like it was done in notepad.
I also have a free yahoo email account for my personal email which would be fine. I don't want much, just the facilities used in this box I'm writing in right now would be fine - bold, italic, underline, alignment etc
So my question is this: is there some way of sending emails from outside my hosting service which still look like they have been sent from my business?
Thanks to anyone who can help
Jack

Well, if your email sending (newsletter, regularly updates to list) is serious business for you, you might want to consider investing in services such as aweber.com

It is a very professional and user-friendly service built for list-builders.

Personally have yet to tried using my hosting account's email sender..perhaps it might be a better idea to send out personal emails via your email account?

    Hello Jack,

I'm not sure if I'm answering the right question, but the formatting of your emails are controlled by the email program that you are using, not your web host.

And even if you were using Webmail or similar from your hosting account, there are usually formatting tools available.

What email program are you using to send your message out?
    Cheers, Eric G.

    Hi Eric
The 2 programs available at Hostmonster are called Horde and Squirrelmail. They are both similar.
I have attached a screenshot I just took of the Horde - Compose message box.
As you can see it has no formatting tools.
On second thoughts I just did a preview of the screenshot and it's pretty bad. It's good elsewhere so I think it's just this Forum that's not displaying it properly. I took it with Snagit 7 and they're usually pretty good.
Is there any other way I can get it to you or can you make out what I mean.
    Thanks for your help
    Jack

Hi Eric - a bit more clarification.
Is there a way of sending emails from anywhere where I can get them to look as though they came from my business domain. For example one of my domain names is honestbuyersonly.com so that's what I want at the end of my email e.g. info at honestbuyersonly.com (the site isn't up yet - I'm still testing).
Hope this helps you to help me!
      Thanks
      Jack

        Hello Jack,

I'd suggest that you didn't use those email programs for anything other than emergencies. they're old, clumsy, and crappy.
The normal way of using email is to have a POP email program on your computer, like Outlook express, or Eudora, Thunderbird, etc.
You set these up to log into your email server, and download and send messages.

The POP programs allow you to enhance your emails in the way you want.
They also allow you to download your mail from your hosting server onto your computer, where you can read and send your email without being online.

If you want to use email totally online, I recommend that you set up an account with gmail. Then forward all the emails from your domain name to your gmail account. (I do this myself, and them download to my PC from the gmail account.) You'll NEVER have to use Horde or Squirrel mail again :-)
You can also set up gmail to send messages with your domain name as the return address.

If you do a bit of research on google, you'll be able to find lots of info about doing these things.
        Regaads, Eric G.

    Hi Jack

I agree with Eric, don't use the webmail programmes they are crap. I use hostmonster too so I will attempt to tell you how to set up your mail to run through outlook. Most new computers will have outlook or outlook express already installed if you don't have one of these programes you can get a similar one from openoffice.org.

In outlook you need to go to the tools menu then click 'accounts' or 'email accounts' you will be taken through a wizard that will help you set up your account.

To find your username, password, incoming/outgoing server info you need to go to your hosting Cpanel and click on 'email accounts' choose the email account you want to set up and click on 'configure mail client' if you scroll down you will see 'manual settings' just copy the info from there into the outlook account set up wizard.

Then everytime you need to check your email or send something just open outlook and it will download your email to your computer - helps you to keep backups copies of your mail too. Outlook lets you format your email the same as if you were typing in word.

    Hope this helps

      Thanks Eric and Niksmout
That's just what I wanted to know.
I already forward my emails from Hostmonster but I didn't know if it worked the other way.
      All the best

        Hi Eric and Niksmout
I decided to go the google mail route so I can get access from anywhere.
I'm also forwarding all messages to my Yahoo email account to get a backup copy.
The jobs now done, tested and it works!
        Thank you both very much
        Jack
