A fool-proof money-maker

Some time ago a marketer told me that a customer had
purchased the same book from him no less than 7 times.

I assume the customer had a very bad memory.

Which gave me an idea.

I'm going to write a book with a title like
"How to improve your memory"

I'll set it at a low price so that its an easy sale.

Then in my follow up campaigns I'll give extra tips on
improving memory until, a few weeks later, I tell them

"I hope you are enjoying these tips in my newsletter.
There's hundreds more in my new book - How to improve your memory"

See, they will most likely have forgotten their original
purchase and will re-order.

The next step is to invite them to become affiliates with
the maximum ClickBank 75% commission.

Then I'll switch the rate down to 10%.

If they complain about low commissions and say they thought
it was 75% I'll simply tell them they are confused with
another ebook.

I could be cheeky and say
'Your memory is not too good, how about buying this book . . '
but that might be taking it a bit far.

What do you think ?

Yeah, well unfortunately for him, Nietzsche died horribly from syphilitic insanity, if memory serves (irony intended). Maybe he forgot which of the prostitutes he frequented were unclean.

actually not true, goldfish get to know you over a period of weeks and months and can actually be trained to do all sorts of tricks

the misconception that their brains can't remember a thing is a false one (probably do to the fact that they go "blub blub blub" all day long)

What a horrible scoundrel you are - preying on the unfortunate.

And now for my latest idea.

It will almost DOUBLE my money.

How about upselling the customer with the very same book !!

I've done some beta testing and here are the results.

      My thank-you page says

Thank you for ordering my ebook
      "How to improve your memory"

      blah .. blah

      blah .. blah

By the way I'm sure you would love the sequel
      "How to improve your memory"

Now, some 70% of customers also purchased this 'sequel'.

      The others said

'Harvey, did you put a wrong link in there - this
      looks like the original book'

I brushed them off with an excuse about an out-of-date page
      and an old offer.

Then came the master stroke - and it shows the power of split testing.

      I changed the page to

Thank you for ordering my ebook
      "How to improve your memory"

      blah .. blah

      blah .. blah

By the way I have something extra for you.

      Please click to next page

You see - by the time they reached the next page the
previous information was a blur and an amazing 95% now
      ordered.

I'm now working on the next stage - recurring income.

I've already prepared this template response

      "No sir, you misunderstand.
When you saw the $9 price it was a monthly fee.

      7 times is nothing.
I've got hundreds of people on my membership site on how to hypnotize.

      <you are feeling very sleepy>

you see, I discovered that long sales letters used to make me sleepy

      <you are feeling relaxed>

so I wrote this really long salesletter for people who want to learn the power of suggestion. I mean reallly long and engaging. It was so engaging that people not only felt tired but relaxed at my suggestion

      <you are very relaxed now>

and did you know that people who want to learn to hypnotize are actually really open to suggestion.

You did know that didn't you. You want to learn don't you.

<You are relaxed at the idea of learning this power>

      Very relaxed.

You remember how generous you feel when you are relaxed

      <you need to know more>

You know that only spending money will get you this power

<feeling oh so relaxed, oh so generous>

visist my site and find out how you can feel relaxed every month at only $97

<my newletters will help you relax>

and you know how clicking those affiliate links makes you excited and full of anticipation.

<you feel excited, you want to spend money>

<it makes you feel good, relaxed, in control>

Just head over to my website and you can have this power.

That's a great idea Harvey. Here's a MUCH better idea though. I got it somewhere on the internet, can't remember where.

I'd like your thoughts on how my plan stacks up against yours.

    Here it s:

I think this is dishonest and ridiculous....If I sold an ebook and someone re ordered the same thing I think they would be more likely to purchase things I recommended or wrote in the future if I sent them a refund for the second purchase and I politely told them that they already own it and where they can re download it.

Don't take advantage of people like that it is not a good business practice.

It's funny that you say this, because I have membership sites, where after doing an audit we discovered the same member paying three times for his membership.

I guess some people get so caught up in a buying frenzy that they buy the same things over and over.
