Teach them for FREE but make sure the 'materials' are manufactured by you guys. So no matter what, they'll keep coming back to you.

I'm not a genius, but I'll give it a shot.

Let's say that they do have the audacity to go out of their way to sell the bracelets they've learned to make, from the lessons they've learned from you.

Here are some countermeasures for that:

1. Before signing up to your "livelihood program" have them sign a non-compete, non-disclosure contract. This is just a safeguard procedure, not as a means to discourage them to go against you.

2. Give them an incentive program. Say like, for those who can make XXX past their quota of the month gets a vacation trip or a dinner date. Something like that.

3. Establish your brand. They would rather be associated with a company with a tradition rather than starting from scratch.

Bottomline is, you'll have to take care of your bracelet makers.

You really have me stumped for the time being and believe me that's really saying something, lol. I'm thinking but I could brain storm a little better with more information such as:

How much does it cost to make or obtain the product?
How quickly can the product be made or obtained?
Whats your estimated percentage of people that would buy?
Is it based off of impulse or need?
And so on.....

The only way is to make them loyal friends. If not, why would they stick with you for a small percentage instead of getting it all.

Establishing a brand would probably work. If you can do that, then it's possible they won't start on their own behind your back. If you already have an established brand people know about, you will already be one step ahead of them, which might just keep them loyal to you.

To add: Loyalty points matter.

For example, if you sell 5 "bracelets", you'd get to keep 1 bracelet profit all yours. So that's a 5 + 1 offer.
Or something like, for every 200 "bracelets" you'd get 10 "bracelets" free worth of material.

I'm sure you can come up with more creative ways to make them stick with you, rather than going solo.

that's how every other company does it. Seriously though, look at legal shield and other similar companies.

The key to this is pretty simple and you have several options. Since the vendors can make these bracelets without you after you teach them your process, expecting them to pay royalties is a bad expectation. But you can-

1) Make them sign a nationwide non-compete contract agreeing to buy all materials from you. That way, if they start selling their own on the side, you have legal recourse.

2) Don't worry about getting a percentage at all...just sell the business and territory rights to them outright for a set fee. That way you make your profit up front and don't have to worry about keeping up with anything.

3) Just put a clause in the contract that they will pay a percentage of their sales in royalties for xx months. Or that they have to buy all materials from you for xx months. Or both.

4) Plan on introducing new products every three months that vendors can use for additional revenue streams. Provide them with enough benefits to stay loyal to you (along with a contract) and they probably will.

5) Don't sell the idea to anyone at all...hire managers in different areas and pay them well to oversee production, distribution and sales. Make it a 50/50 partnership and they have nothing to gain by being dishonest. That way, it stays your property and you have criminal recourse as well as civil.

There are a hundred different ways to do this; just pick one that works for you.

Make the proposition very mafioso-style - use lots of Godfather-like slang - the underlying threat of being "whacked" should work.

To be honest I think you'd have trouble stopping people from just doing it themselves, especially if the product is e readily available for them to get their hands on.

Probably your best bet is to, as some others have said... Create an ebook and sell that as the business model or maybe a franchise.

You could even create a coaching course and charge people to learn the system. If it makes a lot of money people would be willing to pay to start up on their own. 1,000 people at $1000 makes you a million.

Quite honestly because the details are so vague it is difficult to comment on, but you might be over estimating how willing people are to start their own business from scratch or start something new.

For example many people buy services on fiverr and then upsell the same service for higher prices across the internet via forums and websites. You might ask yourself why doesn't this person (from fiver) just sell their prices for higher elsewhere then? Its because some people simply don't want to or don't have the where with all to be motivated to do otherwise.

Although some people might do it on their own, there are also a good percentage of people who will just stick to working under you just because they don't want to do the ground work themselves. Those are the people you should be worried about, not the others who might start their own businesses

Make sure that the leads come in and are managed by a third party for the materials. This is a way to protect yourself.... My two cents....

This is similar to the reprint & resale rights products niche online. Or even Clickbank affiliate marketing. Or even consulting or even referral marketing for that matter.

It is what it is. It's just a business. The smart business owner would care less, because their marketing skills should be so sublime that they could start/takeover anything (that makes sense), and turn it into a cash cow within a short period of time.

Don't gain anxiety over the business, or even the business model. Gain anxiety over which new business venture you're going to start and automate - while the goons are on the streets marketing your items for you.

you can tell people to sell your product. those people can get to keep little amount of profit like commission, and the rest goes to you . make sure they don't learn how the product is made otherwise they may start their own.

you have to keep an edge. And the only edge available to you in this case is the production of the goods. If you find a way to produce cheap and efficient, it will be difficult for a newcomer to compete.
other than that, you have no other choice than jumping in the water hoping that no one will copy you.
If the product is easy to produce, then only branding can save you. and branding means a lot of money spent in advertising.

Sell it as a franchise. Give them a reason to come through your organisation. Provide them with a ready to go business including business stationary, brand your brackets and patent them if you can to avoid people simply reproducing them.
