Are my goals unrealistic?

I am new to the Warrior Forum as a poster, but I have lurked here for some time. It is my understanding that the best way to earn money online is either through a high traffic site with advertisements or affiliate marketing. I can code, design, have access to hosting and purchasing a domain is easy enough. Other than that I really have very little capital to begin with and even less knowledge. In the next six months I would like to start earning $1000 a month online.

I know many here have achieved that income although I am not sure about the time frame. I thought I might try an experiment and take the advice from those of you here kind enough to offer it. I will do everything you suggest or ask of me and I will keep a detailed log of it. Is this unrealistic or too demanding? I am new here so I am looking for any help I can get. It may seem like a small amount to some, but $1000 a month would mean a great deal to me. What's my first step? Where do I go from here? This seems both overwhelming and daunting, but I am determined.

Your goals are not unrealistic except the way you want to achieve them. Before you start asking questions and getting lots of bad advice...

    1. Decide the way you want to make your money. There are so many ways that no one can tell you which way is best for your circumstances.

    2. Start researching the threads that discuss the method you have chosen.

    3. Start taking action.

    4. Now start asking specific questions about things you need help with. This way you will get better answers from people that have actual experience.

Forgive me for my ignorance. I believe I have the ability and fortitude to pursue almost any method of attaining my goals, but do you or does anyone else have an idea about the method in which I should achieve my goal? That is, what might be the best way to achieve $1000 a month in 6 months or less in the most efficient manner?

Nothing to forgive and you are not ignorant. My point is that there are too many methods and having someone else pick it for you is not the ideal way to start. Even with a fantastic method and all the right tools no one can predict how much money someone else can start making in a certain amount of time. There have been hundreds of these types of threads over the years if you look for them.

You can start making a $1000 a month at some point with eBay, selling t-shirts on facebook, writing books for Kindle, affiliate marketing, paid traffic to an offer or a website, offering services, creating your own digital product, promoting Amazon products... I could go on and on. There are some sub-forums even dedicated to specific methods. Once YOU choose your method you will find a lot more help.

Thank you, that clarifies a great deal for me. And thank you Tom. Based on everything I know and my technical skills, affiliate marketing seems to be the best way for me to achieve my goals. I wouldn't mind some of the other methods you listed, but with my background in coding and design affiliate marketing feels like a good fit. I have made some money using AdSense, but it was not much and seems wholly unreliable.

The information in my list is all related to affiliate marketing. You need to know those elements and many more.

Great now you have a plan, so no need to pay some guru or coach , you can get lots of free info here from people.

I agree that you should stay focused on one aspect and not try every idea that is being touted as "hottest, newest".

There are many affiliate deals out there., pick one and get to really know it.
If you have a passion, hobby or special knowledge that would be a good start.
A guy named Craig wanted to list events and (veg) happenings in San Francisco, a lady named Angie wanted to find reliable home repair people and so forth

Some very big sites were started by people with an interest or passion for something, from wine to workouts.

Personally I would stay away from the "do it for you" , "follow my exact plan" stuff.
Think about it - if you were really making so much money why would you dilute it, why would you need people to "invest" etc?

Are your goals unrealistic? Not by a long shot.

It seems you have the technical skills to be an affiliate marketer. What you lack, for the time being, is the knowledge.

I'll give you a general blueprint and perhaps you can use this as a jumping-off point.

    1. Decide on the right niche.
    2. Put together a business plan (that includes a monetization strategy).
    3. Register a relevant domain of value.
    4. Put together a monetized affiliate site with suitable content.
    5. Grow traffic from free traffic platforms.
    6. Outsource operations.
    7. Rinse, repeat.

You have a lot to learn. I began around 21 years ago. But you can certainly piece together the necessary information to achieve those goals within the stated time.

    Every method can make money.

What you choose should depend on what you're good at and what you'll be interested in spending time learning and growing in.

Perfect. Affiliate marketing is a great way to meet your goals. Focus on that one method and don't get sidetracked. Now your next step, like Tom mentioned, is choosing the right niche. Search out the threads that talk about that and you will find some good pointers.

$1000 / month is very achievable and realistic, I tought i'm gonna find another noob looking to make 10K per month from the start off. But good, choosing 1K a month as a first goal is very mature, and your first step into success.

Well from skills you have stated, starting a small MNS would fits you well.

Just one advice, choose a niche you are really passionate about, if you like your niche, you will not give up easily even if you don't make money..

Starting a website about something you don't like, and you don't have knowledge about, will be overwhelming & unenjoyable, and eventually you will quit it sooner or later.

Here are three KEY RULES you need to follow

    1) Research on your own - DO NOT WASTE MONEY on 'gurus' or 'coaches'

    2) Focus on ONE THING

    3) Measure your success based on what stage you're on

1,000 in 6 months is actually realistic and I'm positive you can make more once you find a viable method that works for you. Here is a brief mental map of questions you need to ask yourself however

    Monetization:

How Am I Going To Make Money
    1)Affiliate Marketing- Comission Based Income
    2)CPA- Cost Per Action
    3)Selling My Own Services
    4)Selling My Own Products

How do you want to make money online?

1)Passively: Slow building, but once you have some income coming in, you no longer have to work for it and requires low or no maintenance.

2)Actively: Immediate income but requires consistent maintenance and work.

What Market Do I Want To Get In?

    1) One I am already familiar with
    2) A market that I am not necessarily interested in but I don't mind promoting and has high profit margins
    3) Evergreen Markets
    4) Niche markets with low competition
    5) Etc

    Traffic

Where Am I Going To Get Traffic

    1) Video Marketing
    2) Ranking Websites For Search Engines
    3) Social Media
    4) Web 2.0's Such As Tumblr,Blogspot
    5) Forums
    6) Article Directories

The basic formula is Monetization Method + Targeted Traffic = Money

You need to understand what you want to monetize and how you are going to generate traffic and then stick to it and don't try to do multiple things at once

You don't need a high capital to create an authority site. Everything can be done for free if you do it by yourself..

Not being funny but $1,000 per month from a site within 6 months probably won't happen. Don't get me wrong, authority sites are king and they will indeed earn you loads if you do it right, but remember you are completely new and your first 4 months will probably be all trial and error. Unless your sometime of super hero

If you choose to go the affiliate marketing route and are hoping to get your traffic from SEO then keep in mind you may get off to a very slow start so don't get discouraged.

My amazon affiliate site made $2 in its first month but at the time I was just doing it for fun so that didn't discourage me. In my sixth month I made over $500 and all signs point to having my first $1,000 month on the site's 1-year anniversary.

Surely it is possible to do twice as well as I did. Everything else I would suggest has already been mentioned above.
