What's working now for generating passive, residual income?

What are currently the best ways to generate a consistent passive, residual income stream to replace an average full-time income ($3k-$5k/mo) within a reasonable time frame (2-5 months)?

Passive Print System by Adam Nolan is good, but I'm sure there are many other methods working well for others here, so please share.

What's working for you now? Please provide as much detail as you'd like.

This is a real question I've posed specifically to help those looking to escape their dead-end 9-5 and hopefully retire on trustable, passive income. The answer could help someone in desperate need of breaking free from their horrible job and abusive boss. Be compassionate

It took me about 2.5 years to develop a PRI that provided a steady, reliable, full-time income on autopilot. I know there are faster, easier ways than blogging and waiting for Google to like you in order to build up Adsense and other ad income.

What other ways are currently working? Or does it usually require ongoing work/input/tinkering and I just got really lucky with my passive niche which has been steady for 3 years now?

Very unlikely, 3~5k in 5 months for beginners don't think so... Why not share your success story?

And thanks for your response. It sounds like you just laid down a challenge for warriors to come up with a way for newbies to accomplish this level of PRI success quickly and consistently.

If I were to propose a way for beginners, it'd probably involve outsourcing of the more technical aspects while following a simple, step-by-step system of creating a high-end home study course and a funnel of smaller products leading up to it, and giving away a high-perceived-value downloadable for free to build up a list ASAP; and to promote that funnel with FB and other ads. I know that's all been done before, but I'm not sure how many newbies achieve that level of steady passive income in under 6 months. I was hoping someone here would share some success stories.

The outline above is what I was planning to do next anyway, so maybe I'll document and make it as newbie-friendly as possible and share my results as a free system in the WR.

So far as my success with PRI, it took longer than 3-6 months (about 2.5 years) and involves a site in a specific niche that I can't reveal. It uses news feeds from various websites fed in automatically using a WP plugin. The content is such that the authors don't care if it's syndicated. I've not had a single complaint in over five years and if I did receive one, I'd simply remove that piece of content. 3-4 feeds populate the site on autopilot 24/7, posting around 50 articles per day. The site is probably up to 30,000 articles by now. Last I checked it was getting around 300,000 visitors per month.

I've built up an email list of several thousand subscribers and they receive emails daily on autopilot as well. They are sent automatically by AWeber as they poll my site's RSS feed throughout the day. Each time the feed hits a set number of new posts, it sends a newsletter out. I also use a syndication service to send the content out to FB, Twitter and G+ automatically for additional exposure.

So, the entire site is 100% on autopilot. I have three Adsense ads per page, some independent advertisers running ads, and I post my own affiliate ads from time to time. I could drop dead tomorrow and the site would continue to run itself indefinitely. This is a weird, rare niche, though. It's not something easily reproducible in other niches so I can't turn it into a course or a system to follow, else I would have by now.

I hope others here will share their successes with fast and easily reproducible PRI.

Yes, or have your Adsense account banned? What's the deal? I have a similiar setup, but was banned within a few months, have to get all my traffic from social now.

A very good question. The answer is no. Thankfully, it's provided steady income for the past 2.5 years with no penalties that I can see. Do I recommend this approach to anyone else here? No. I'm either getting lucky... or Google sees me as an authority site and so doesn't penalize me. I'd hate to see anyone here try this approach and end up losing their Adsense account, therefore I do not recommend it. Thanks for bringing that up so I could address that.

Hello Everybody!

I'm a newbie on all of this but reading this thread has been really useful to know a little more and know some terms and things that I didn't know before.

I would like to have an income like the ones described here as in my country I'm earning $800 a month (without taxes discounts) in a 10 hours job and it's a good income in average and that's why I decided to start looking for an option online.

I would like to know if somebody can help me with the startup or can recommend me someone who can help me and guide me to ramp up a business because as I mentioned, I'm not very knowledgeable at this and I would really appreciate your help with this.

Thanks!

Hi Jenna. The plugin is called FeedWordPress. In this thread I mention 3 other plugins that support it (you'll have to look back for their names). Just be aware there can be drawbacks to straight-ahead feed sites, so I'd suggest mixing with original content, and perhaps only posting 50% of the feed posts with a link to the rest.

And, yes, you can overwhelm your list with too many emails. It's good to segment your list by what's most important to your readers. Create multiple lists in your email service. Aweber lets you do blog-to-email so emails can be fully automated. Just post to your blog automatically (using FeedWordPress), then send out emails automatically (using Aweber), then syndicate to social media automatically (using a syndication service.) Dlvr.it works for syndication, but there are probably even better ones.

Set up your content using a different RSS feed in FeedWordPress for every segment/topic. You can input each of those RSS feed URLs into AWeber for each list/blog-to-broadcast. Then, give subscribers the chance to opt in for what topic(s) they want, instead of just giving them everything. That will cut down on how many emails they get and ensure they get only what they are most interested in.

Thanks for the share. I had just 2 quick questions from your post in regards to the technology you are using.

"It uses news feeds from various websites fed in automatically using a WP plugin." What WP Plugin are you using for this?

"I also use a syndication service to send the content out to FB, Twitter and G+ automatically for additional exposure." What Syndication service to use?
Thank you!

I like it... and I also like a little more control. If promoting someone else's product, it's too easy for them to drop you as an affiliate (ask X about this) or f something else up for you (like payments and affiliate tracking). So, for short-term gain, this is probably fine, but not sure about for long-term reliable PRI that you can truly depend on. Otherwise, I'm in agreement! So, to tweak that a bit... 1) find a reliable money niche; 2) create and sell your own product in that niche; 3) optimize and automate everything.

Unfortunately, without using other people's content, you usually have to a) create your own content consistently... which is the antithesis of passive; or b) hire someone to create content for you. Unless, of course, you create like a year's worth of auto-responder messages upfront one time and then forget about it.

Newbies to paid traffic could very easily lose lots of money using it, though I believe paid traffic is the fastest way to get targeted traffic immediately.

Anybody who just starting the IM world, this is my honest opinion.

If you currently have your 9-5 job, don't quit unless you already making a consistent income!
Many people think this IM world is easy..i don't argue with that..but i also can't argue with the fact that many who jump into this "career" didn't make their income on the first year.

So, before quitting your day job make sure you already have made "consistent income"..

So back to the question, how to make consistent income?

For newcomers (even for some oldtimers), better to start with AFFILIATE MARKETING.

The way to do it is by COLLECTING LEADS @ BUILDING YOUR MAILING LIST..

Marketing method works best is FORUM..
Just do your best comment for any thread you want to.
Meanwhile, you will continue learning while making traffic (income).

Lets the autoresponder do the "automatic marketing" for you..
You just have to focus on generating traffic to your squeeze pages.

That's it!

I think this is the best way for "beginner".
I met with some guys who're making decent success with this method.
Just sharing it with you all folks! :-)

Good suggestions, Adenan. Can you give more detail on the kind of forum marketing you suggest? Is there a good course you'd recommend that teaches this?

And "don't quit your day job" is great advice as I've seen plenty of folks hit speed-bumps on their journey to IM success.

Also, affiliate marketing while building a list is a great suggestion. I generated around $90k in affiliate sales over a weekend (spent $10k on ads) and was dumb enough to not collect emails. The ads generated over 7,500 opt-ins for the product owner and I got none. I won't be making that mistake again.

Thank u sir for your thread and your extremely informative posts! I also am a complete "wannabe" newby, that finds the concept of making $$ online overwhelmingly intimidating and confusing!

Yet, here I read that u and many many other people on the Warriar Forum and on many other forums......are very successful making $$ online!.........Kudos to u sir and all of u people who "get" this and have achieved success on line!

Im excited for all of u successful achievers because u have learned, by your own ingenuity and creativity and diligent efforts, to succeed and in some cases greatly so!

in conclusion. im learning from people like u by reading your posts as well as reading about your past mistakes! I also hope to learn about making $$ online. hopefully, im smart enough to "get it" also!

I like the simplicity of your solution here, and it should work if you do all three parts well.

I think there are ways to shorten the time to success, though:

1. Focus on the 20% of tasks that produce 80% of your income/results. Do this 100% of the time and outsource the rest to fiverr.com, a virtual assistant, freelancer.com, etc. This makes you 400% more efficient and profitable. Most people waste an enormous amount of time on unproductive actions. For those folks, trying to accomplish just about anything could take years. Look at Sean Mize. He's a product creation maniac. A lot of that is discipline.

2. There are various WSOs teaching how to create products fast (in 60 minutes, even). Alex Jeffreys' course has a module on this and I think Sean Mize taught this as well in one of his trainings.

3. Traffic need not take time to build up. FB ads (outsource their design to fiverr) will drive instant, targeted traffic to your landing page.

Seeing everyone's responses here is interesting. I'm surprised how many folks feel it will be difficult to impossible to accomplish this goal. I'm not quite as pessimistic, though I can see it would be a challenge starting something from scratch.

Hey Grateful Warrior. I'm a total newbie and was wondering if you could explain this a little more? What are some ways someone, specifically in affiliate marketing, can focus on the 20% of tasks to produce 80% of income/results? Or were you talking about outsourcing when you said that?

I figured out how to make a simple wordpress site with amazon affiliate links on them and spend a ton of time now just building up my social media friends / fans. Sometimes it feels like that is where all of my time is spent. That, and writing product posts once a week.

I could be wrong, but I am starting to think that I am one of those people who is wasting "an enormous amount of time on unproductive actions" as you say?

Great question, especially for a newbie. Hopefully I can give you a great answer.

First off, this is pretty personal. Every person needs to figure out which of their 20% of actions produce 80% of their results. No one can do that for us. But I can tell you it tends to involve doing actual MARKETING and SELLING-related activities.

Many folks can work 8 hours and only put in only 1-2 hours of actual marketing and selling time and then wonder why they're not getting results very quickly. And by marketing and selling time, this also includes doing things like building WP sites, adding affiliate links, and driving traffic.

FB fans often aren't so effective unless you have a big, loyal following. I'd focus on paid FB ads if you have the money and get the proper training. If not, I'd focus on building up traffic to your site by getting some good Wikipedia links (Wikijacker perhaps?) and recorded Google Hangouts.

Overall, free traffic can be hard unless you've already built up a list. You've gotta build a list NOW. Does your WP site have email capture forms everywhere? If not, start there. Do not do ANYTHING ELSE until you are capturing emails as much as possible. That is definitely the 20% you should be focusing on from day one. That might even be the 5% that produces 95% of your results. It depends on your strategy ultimately.

I've done a good share of affiliate marketing and have been a super-affiliate for several programs, but my focus might be different from yours. That said, this is what my 20% would look like in relation to affiliate marketing:

1. Focus on finding affiliate offers that meet the following criteria:
a. High-converting (currently a hot offer, not a has-been) - Must have high EPC across funnel if they have a series of products, or high EPC on single product if that's all they have
b. A product I can believe in, and one I am willing to purchase and use myself because it's awesome
c. Low refund rate (2-7% is good)
d. Residual income if possible (paid memberships, subscriptions, etc.) because I love passive income

2. Marketing
a. Media buys
i. Create and test a series of ads
ii. When I find a high-converting ad, scale the traffic up rapidly
b. Email
i. If I'll be doing email marketing, creating an email teaser series is crucial
ii. Emails should tell stories, entertain, educate and sell
iii. Emails should put time and price squeezes on readers so they get off their duffs and take action

These are a few of the main ways I've done affiliate marketing:

1. Media buys. I've done media buys where I've purchased millions of banner ad impressions through Intermarkets and other sites/networks. I did well with this because I designed killer ads that got insane CTRs (click-thru rates). But banner ads can be hit-or-miss, so you have to test small before scaling up impressions.

2. Email promotions. I've done email promotions to thousands of subscribers in the form of an evergreen-style launch. I would tease for 6-7 days with informative and passionate emails then let them know what the big secret was and they would buy like crazy.

3. JVs. I've done revenue shares with JV partners with huge lists. I write the emails, salesletters, etc, and they drive the traffic and we split the commissions. Last time I did this my partner made $10k from one email where I did all the work. He was quite happy. I was a little disappointed, though, because I knew that if he had used the 4-email teaser campaign I created for him that it likely would have been about 10x that amount.

4. Newsletter advertorials. I used to write and send exclusive advertorials out to the SelfGrowth.com Financial Newsletter list. That had a very decent conversion rate. I always made good money on that.

5. Advertise on a site with great, passionate traffic. If you can find a high-traffic news site that will let you put a related advertorial on their site, these can do extremely well. I used to pay $100 per week for a link to an advertorial they'd post for me, and would make $2,000+ each time. If that person only knew how valuable those links were he would have charged me much more. Unfortunately, he caught on to the value of his traffic eventually and did away with his advertorial option altogether.

Your 20% that produces your 80% may be different, but it sounds like you're already focusing in the right direction. However, if you're spending the other 80% of your day focusing on menial or unrelated tasks that can be outsourced, then you're losing 400% of your productivity and results. It's better to outsource. I have some VAs from the Philippines who work for $1.25 to $2.50 per hour and they do a decent job, or I'll outsource quick jobs to Fiverr.

If you have to, partner with someone who you can split profits with if they are more inclined to focus on some important areas that you're perhaps not so inclined to focus on or not very experienced in. Teamwork can work wonders if you have a good and trustworthy teammate.

Finally, and this probably should be #1 in terms of following the 80/20 rule -- get your MINDSET right. If you don't believe you'll make money, you probably won't. Action follows thought. Get your thinking right first. I have pop-up reminders popping up on my screen throughout the day that keep my thinking positive and focused on my 20% and on ridding myself of doubt, fear and pessimism. I know that if my mind isn't clear and positive, then I'll just be spinning my wheels, so I focus on getting CLEAR and POSITIVE first and continuously throughout the day. This is DEFINITELY the crucial 20% most people miss completely and so end up sabotaging themselves all the way by basically driving with their brakes on.

My goal reminders pop up every three hours so I can get into the feeling of already having my goals accomplished. I do this repeatedly throughout the day. I use some techniques I've learned and developed that pull me into the "feeling of the wish fulfilled" as Neville Goddard would say, and to drop resistance, fear and doubt. This powerfully aligns your actions so you are effortlessly and naturally focused on the 20% that will bring your 80% results. When you feel you already have your goals, then your goals act like magnets pulling you right to them via the best and most direct course possible; and sometimes you may feel you're going off course for a bit, but actually you'll end up learning something or meeting someone or finding some tool or software that shortens the path to your goal substantially.

So, post your goals and look at them often, drop doubt and resistance to them, and get into the feeling for a minute or so each time that you already have them. The only person I know who does this besides myself is a friend who is making $100k per month. He loves talking about this stuff with me and uses it all the time.

Hope this was a great answer to your great question. You will succeed. Believe in yourself and never, ever stop believing. Remember, you don't have to be 100% positive. You just need to tilt the scales towards the positive (i.e. faith, belief, courageous, lack of resistance). The more you do this, the faster you will move towards your goals.

That's probably the hardest thing for me to do because when I got started, the only way to outsource was to hire another employee. I still struggle with not always doing it myself and that IS NOT EFFICIENT!

If I didn't already have $1.25/hr. help from the Philippines, I'd probably get this: http://virtualhelper247.com/specialoffer/ (that's NOT an affiliate link and I have no relation to these folks whatsoever so I can't vouch for quality or customer service). For 2 days or so they are offering $197 for 3 trained virtual assistants for 160 hours per month (about $1.23/hour). It looks to be a decent offer. Their normal rate appears to be $5/hour. I would assume this is to get new clients in the door and it's probably working like gangbusters for them.

Yea, I have been banging around this for a while, the problem is much greater when you see all the products promoting "Instant 'Passive' Income" with no work.

I've taken the path of Alex Jeffreys, create and sell a product and therefore build a buyer list. Not truly passive, but its a fantastic business model to profit faster then many other models. The cash comes after the initial sale.

Enjoy the Ride!

Only one method I know and use is working now as passive and residual. By now I mean without building it for years. But to make 2k-3k/mo you need to have pretty "heavy" deposit or to recruit people.

Thanks for your feedback on that. I have his "Marketing With Alex" training and there's some good stuff in there. I'm more interested in his new, simplified "3 page funnel" I saw him advertising recently, instead of the complicated funnels he's been working off for years and which are described in MWA. Do you know anything about that more simplified approach he's using now?

The only forms of passive income are methods which deal with uploading/placing items whether it be products, articles, videos, etc on to a site and utilizing the sites own traffic as a means to generate income.

These require no maintenance after the initial set up/work which makes them passive

Just a few ideas:

1)Video uploading and redirecting to a cpa or affiliate offer

2)Article writing on sites that give you money based on ad revenue i.e hubpages

3)Upload apps with ads

4)Uploading Udemy courses

5)Uploading torrents

6)Uploading software with ads

7)Creating a mass amount of tshirts and uploading them on sites which generate traffic on their own

8)Uploading pictures on royalty free licensing sites and getting part of the income per sale

9) Uploading music on royalty free licensing sites and getting part of the income per sale

It's easy to look at people who have a passive income and think that it's easy - but you never see the work it took to get there. There's always work first to set up the systems that provide the passive income.

Personally I believe that havig a number of good quality products aimed at a specific niche put together in a product funnel is the way to do it. It takes work to find the right product, work to create the product - work to find the right product funnel, work to build the list and work to optimize the autoresponder. But once you've got that and you've got it all working you can automate a lot of the hard work and watch the cash roll in!

• I am currently getting paid to advertise on a private network. It does take some work and investment but the more you "invest", the quicker you can be generating job-killing income while advertising your own offers as well. I started with one $55 investment and bumped it up to $1500 when I saw the income start coming in. Click the "1 hour" link in my sig if you want to know more. Its kind of like how Adsense use to be when you could put up crappy content around some keyword, place the ads in there, then refresh your browser everyday and see money coming in. Well, with this, I refresh my account screen and I see my earnings increase the same day. That's pretty motivating stuff. Can you replace a full-time income in 2-5 months with it? Yes, but it depends on how much of a budget you can start off with. Some have done it in 30 days and others have taken a year or more, but the ones who have done it have all done so using this same exact system. Its "passive" because the only real "work" you do is clicking on a few ads each day and your earnings keep increasing. Anyway, this is at least one thing that's working for me right now.

I've always been strictly into list building and promoting affiliate products. I've been making great money with that since 2009 (enough to quit my "9-5"). However, recently I have been realizing that that business model does not produce consistent income, and it's actually becoming more difficult to make money this way. On top of that, there are other factors that can cause you setbacks like getting your AR account closed, PayPal account limited, etc. None of those things has ever happened to me (knock on wood), but what if it does one day?

Lately I've been thinking about how I would deal with that. The best answer that I came up with is to diversify so that if one income source should dry up, or at least be temporarily halted, I won't have to worry.

Two weeks ago I decided to get in on a passive income program that I found over in the WSO section. At first I was a little hesitant and unsure of how it worked, simply because I had never been involved in this type of marketing.

Well, I have to say I am pleasantly surprised and am already starting to see a small return on my investment. One thing I have learned is that passive income programs take time and hard work to flourish. You won't make $3K a month in 6 months. My calculations are showing me that it will take at least a year before I hit $1K per month, and even that may be wishful thinking. HOWEVER, this is a solid income plan that once it gets rolling there is not much that can stop it.

Also, because I already have a nice sized list and know a little about driving traffic and promoting products, I will likely be able to advance a little faster than someone who is just starting out. However, generating passive income is something that anyone at any level can get into, and if they are willing to work hard they can be successful.

Passive Print System by Adam Nolan is good, but I'm sure there are many other methods working well for others here, so please share.

What's working for you now? Please provide as much detail as you'd like.
The odds of reaching at least 3k in 2-5 months is something that is incredibly hard for a beginner.

Consider this:

1. A beginner must do research on his/her potential niche/market/industry so the he/she is prepared for anything and so that he/she can create products and services that sell.

2. A beginner must learn the ropes of hosting, wordpress, email lists, sales funnels, opt in forms, product creation, affiliate marketing, blogging and discipline. All of this will take some time to sink in for a beginner.

3. A beginner must promote his/her online presence extensively in the beginning to get noticed by even a few people. If the Internet is an ocean then you are rock at the bottom of the sea.

4. A beginner must develop the website/blog/squeeze page, write/create content, create potential sales pages, write follow-up series for your emails and so on.

All of these things will take some time to learn and do. Even if you can accomplish this in a month, it'll take time before people start to notice you. Even if you've got some serious pull with an already successful marketer that helps you out, it's going to take time for the audience to trust you enough to even buy something that you're promoting or selling.

Online marketing is a marathon, not a sprint.

You should be happy if you're making $100 a month after 5 months. Take your time to perfect your business and give the market time to get to know you as you promote your business.

Best of luck if you're going to pursue online marketing!

I have ZERO relation to Passive Print System or anything else on WF.

Is there some insane rule on WF I'm unaware of where you can't mention any product by name even if you bought it, tried it, liked it, and have zero financial interest in it? If so, what's the point of having a discussion forum if you can't discuss things that you've found helpful without being accused of having an ulterior motive? It's just ridiculous and stupid like your comment.

Better watch out my brother,
WF is getting really nitty picky and so are the police who patrol this thing.
I appreciate the input on this thread. Saw a lot of good info. I just watched
a somewhat (webinar replay) presentation that talked of a woman making 100K
a month from Amazon products and was using video to rank and bank. The
technique was from what I understood real people promoting health niche
products. The way that the videos were up on page one so fast was with live streaming.
I have an outdated macbook so I have really had a tough time trying to pull this off. I mean the technique is valid because its been around since 2013 I find after doing some research. Live Events on Youtube are going to the top almost immediately and that's without backlinking. Proven right on the video. The ticket was to use wirecast by telestream who made screenflow by the way, and use a pre recorded video and post it as if it is a live stream. That way you can load anything you want. The only alternative to YouTube besides Wirecast so far without being Mr. Coder is Adobe Flash Encoder which only streams live. There is some code hack to use Adobe but I didn't go that far with it. Really interesting technique. Keep banging away. It seems almost impossible for a newbie to come up super quick these days. I have been IMing since 2008 and it took some time for me to learn all this babble. Unless you have deep pockets, the curve is huge. I am moving toward video marketing myself. I have a youtube channel that has 1,570,000 views and around 1700 subscribers but in a really bizarre niche that I would like to throw a Molotov cocktail on but I can't shake the thing. I just keep milking it. Sorry for going so long.

I always find it funny how big corporations like Apple, Google, and Microsoft continue to throw billions of dollars away on silly activities like Research and Development when there is so much "passive" income to be had. You would think that companies as big, well funded and as smart as those would have figured out how to create products, websites or other systems that would continue to rake in profits and stifle the competition without having to resort to useless things like innovation.

If only Steve Jobs had half a brain and knew how to market properly, he would have figured out how to keep people buying the same model of iPhone over and over and over again instead of having to develop new ones all the time. I guess it's up to Tim Cook to finally figure out passive residual income for Apple.

But maybe Tim Cook will start reading the Warrior Forum -- this may be the one place in the whole world of business where you can find people who will tell you how to run a business the right way: which is to say, don't do anything at all. (It's passive!)

Passive means hand's off for the one who created the system. There could be tons of originality, innovation and creativity within that system---only it would be outsourced by the system creator. 4-Hour Work Week covers this in-depth.

Greetings,

I'm new to the Warrior Forum and to Internet Marketing. I've noticed that many have said Affiliate Marketing is one of the easiest ways to begin generating money; however, it appears to be the most challenging for my wife and myself. We just recently set up our first blogs and I opted to attempt to promote a few products from jvzoo but was denied left and right. I just registered with Amazon and I have 180 days to refer one (1) person before my application is reviewed for approval or denial. I'm learning how to navigate this forum, so I'm not certain if Warrior Forum offers Affiliate Marketing opportunities.

My question is how does one land their initial affiliated product to market?

I'm still working on my site, and if it's "jacked-up" please tell me. And for the record, I am not stating that to drive traffic. I'm in a desperate financial position, I'm the only income-earner, but I do have a lot of patience because I know that this can pay off in the end. I'm not expecting to make $1000's within a couple of months, but I am expecting to turn my situation around by making the proper decisions/executions and by studying the Warrior Forums. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated and I would be extremely indebted to anyone's assistance or advice. Just being apart of this forum and reading other success stories is simply motivating.

Affiliate marketing is great -- if you do it right. Other than Adsense, it's been my favorite quasi-passive form of income. Adsense is totally passive the way I've been able to do it, but it doesn't have the powerful financial upside that affiliate marketing has. I can make $90k in sales in a weekend of affiliate marketing, while Adsense doesn't come close to that for me... yet

The reason you're denied on JV Zoo is likely because you haven't made any JV Zoo sales yet. It's the ol' chicken and egg conundrum. Here's a hint I'm not sure if I'm supposed to tell you, but I feel for you in your situation. You can request access to sell Michael Cheney's "Fan Page Money Method" product (and maybe others) and when you apply to do so, just put the words "The Commission Machine" in the box. He should approve you unless he crosschecks with his customer list... which you can solve by trying his course. It might be 45-day payout terms but he should approve you. Then, bust butt selling it so his EPCs don't drop! You should do well if you get his training and follow it. If you think you'll just crash and burn then go with my suggestion in the paragraph below regarding CB.

Anyway, once you get approval from him and make your first sale, you should be good-to-go in getting approval from others. These folks just don't want to kill their EPCs by getting newbies in the door who can't sell, which is why you get denied. You should definitely consider Mike's product (I'm not an affiliate or trying to sell you anything, and I have nothing to gain by doing so). It was launched 2 days ago, appears very solid and will likely help you very much with exactly what you're trying to accomplish. I'm only on video #2 in his training so I can't give a full report, but so far, it seems pretty good. Also, I paid for it myself; it wasn't a review copy or anything, so my recommendation is honest. I've got to get MySpeed software running on this new computer so I can speed up his videos and get through them faster. These trainings seem to take forever otherwise. You can spend half your life learning this stuff. MySpeed by Enounce (enounce.com for free trial) will speed things up for you.

Also, in terms of "landing your first affiliate product to promote" you can just sign up for ClickBank. There are some sellers there now that make you fill out forms to request approval to promote them (a brilliant way to drive up their gravity and EPCs by pre-screening affiliates), but most of the sellers on CB aren't doing that yet... though many likely will be soon. Look for products with gravity over 100. I like weight loss and diabetes products. Venus Factor and the top diabetes product (I forget the name) convert very nicely. I am getting around a $3.85 EPC for Venus Factor right now and it's been out for a long time. It's definitely proving to be evergreen.

Regarding being in a tight spot financially, that's a hard place to start from as your mind will tend to be in reaction mode, instead of response mode, so it can tend to skew your discrimination. When you're desperate, everything can seem like an opportunity, though much of what's out there as WSOs and JV Zoo offers tends to be, in my experience, unworkable, complicated or time-consuming to implement or quasi-unethical. I would say to look into Michael Cheney's latest offering since you're looking to promote JV Zoo offers. Again, so far, it looks solid. I should know within a week or so if it's worth its weight and will post my results if I remember to. There's a 30-day money back so you have nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

Focus on your mindset. Getting into the feeling of already having achieved your goals (they should be written down and viewed/read very often) will help reduce or eliminate any feelings of desperation. However, getting a job that gives you at least short-term, immediate cashflow is a REALLY GOOD IDEA to take the stress off you, too. You can build up an affiliate income part-time during your off hours. Consider marketing a marathon, not a sprint.

Finally, you've probably heard this a million times but don't be afraid to make mistakes or to fail. The more you fail, the more you'll succeed. Failures are CRUCIAL for success. Think of how many times a toddler falls down before walking. If they gave up after falling down a couple of times they'd never walk.

Somehow, judging by your attitude, I get the sense you're not only going to succeed in IM, you're going to absolutely crush it. I hope I'm there to see that.

Grateful Warrior,

I am truly thankful and appreciative of your time. I'm am not certain where the "thank you" button is located but Thank You! I have taken heed to your message and will follow your recommendations as mentioned. I've not only been on JVZoo, but also on Webinarswaps, and Amazon Affiliates. Currently I am employed: I am a police officer with the City of Atlanta. At one point we were paycheck to paycheck and now it's worse than that - on top of having a 3 year old and newborn. However, to all of the warriors on this forum, make no mistake as I am not queuing a violin.

It is my goal to be considered a Warrior like each of you. I am truly starting from the bottom and my ultimate goal would be to review various marketing tools (within different categories) that actually work versus those that rob you... or rather do not work.

Well, I don't want to be long-winded, but again, I thank you for your time to respond to me personally and your willingness to pass me a lamp so that I can walk the path. Much love and appreciation to all that contribute to this forum. It is truly a lighthouse!

Keep the mind attuned to a positive frequency!

I think the best advice is to just get started. Stop reading, stop with taking in information and start putting it into action.

Step 1. Get some hosting
Step 2. Setup a WordPress site
Step 3. Add related affiliate products/amazon links/adsense
Step 4. this is the most important step, FAIL.
Step 5. Get up and try again using what you learned.

The biggest thing is just get started!

To go along with what I wrote above, I just got a link to an article from T. Harv Eker in my email. Here's a snippet:
Rich Business People Have Three Financial Intentions:
1. To have a very high working income
2. To create passive income
3. Dramatically enhance the value of their company
What's the intention that poor people have? To earn a living. To earn a decent living. That's what they're in business for. They don't even consider they're in a business as a way to create passive income and even more importantly to create wealth.

A business is not a job. A business is too much work with too many challenges to just go out there to earn a decent living.

The business is designed to be a vehicle to set you free and create nothing short of wealth! Rich people understand that business is simply two components: either buy or create something and sell it for more than it costs you. That's it!

Most broke people have struggles, put most of their energy and attention not on the buying, creating, and selling but on the administrative and operations arena--the organizing of those two things--and that is a mistake.

I'm glad I was able to help. Keep asking questions so I can continue. I started this thread to give back a little and to help map out a way for both newbies and experienced folks to generate steady, passive, residual income. So many great suggestions have been posted. This thread is already a small treasure chest of great PRI suggestions. By the time it reaches 100 posts, it will be a invaluable archive of what works to generate $3k-5k/mo. in PRI within 6 months.

Like everyone, I'm still learning and always will be. I know that what works today, probably won't work forever, so continual learning is crucial for everyone no matter the industry or market they're in these days.

If you get a chance (make time ), look into afformations (not affirmations) developed by Noah St. John. These pull you into the feeling of already "having" your goal. This is essential. You can't just think "of" your goal, you must think "from" your goal, as if it's already yours, else it will forever remain in the future. The subconscious mind takes everything literally.

Afformations are affirmations posed as questions. For instance, the affirmation "I am succeeding in Internet marketing with ease" would become the question "Why am I succeeding in Internet marketing with ease?" This is a great question, as it pulls you into the assumption that your desire is already fulfilled and your mind actually starts giving you answers as to why this is already so! It generates a feeling of already having or being your goal. Then, you dwell upon that feeling for a few seconds or a minute or so and take any intuitive action that arises spontaneously in your mind to take. Afformations are one of several powerful keys to self-confidence and the belief that you can reach your goals (and already have!).

Every major success I've ever had has come from first getting myself into the feeling that I already achieved it -- whether it was excelling in sports or getting straight As or achieving my marketing and money goals, it always began with the feeling that I already achieved my goal.

Have a great night.

To start making 3-5K in within such a short time, you need to find a profitable niche with healthy competition and create your own products and find affiliates to sell them for you, or you need to research advertising on Facebook and/or Bing, etc. in order to build a list and sell affiliate products.

It can be done but it's going to take at least a $5,000 to $10,000 dollar investment up front to start, for advertising. If you don't have any experience in getting the highest conversions and ROI for advertising campaigns, you can figure on spending another $5,000 dollars on top of that.

The good news is; if you can gain 10,000 subscribers within a few months and you make an average of at least $.050 cents a month per subscriber (very doable), you are set. At that point, you'll make back your investment and everything else is profit.

After that, you continue reinvesting advertising dollars and scaling up! Money makes money and with the right information and plan, it certainly holds true in Internet marketing.

High quality, genuinely useful membership sites, autoresponders, hosting, etc. Promoting any recurring billing product or service, as long as it truly offers real value to the customer, can generate income that is nearly as passive as it gets. Why get paid once for each sale, when you can get paid over and over from each sale? Sure, you will have to do further promotion to replace income that is lost when customers cancel, but depending on your method of promotion, this doesn't necessarily have to require much additional work. And if the product or service you promote is high quality, useful, and of real value to the customer, then you won't be facing a prohibitively high rate of cancellations.

What's working for you now? Please provide as much detail as you'd like.
I wrote a post on my blog that pertains to something similar you can read it here. Besides list building and selling your products and services you can leverage your time without having any money at all. All it takes is a little persistence and working out the proper percentages correctly.

The blog post is about connecting one person with something another person may need and profiting from the transactions residually. My ideal of financial freedom is where I do the work and down the line I'm hands off and not trading time for money, I might as well get a job if that was the case.

For instance...

If you had a shop that only sold clothes and my friend had a shop that only sold shoes and if I make a deal between you two, to where if money is made on either side then I'll make a small percentage of each sale for putting the deal together. They both will make more money and I'll make money.

All parties must benefit greatly. I usually go with 50/40/10. 10 percent being my percentage, but it's residual and the more they sell, the more I make.

I hope this helps.

The only system that I use is Paul Lynch's Inner Circle Riches where he and his team build out a done for you sales funnel for $49. Will it make $5K in a couple of months, unlikely unless you upgrade at the back end. I have done that and some months I have made $1k but there have been others where I have made $9K. It all depends on how active you are to promote ICR.

I must admit, I haven't been promoting half as much as I should of due to other committments, but it is certainly a system that works.

This Post has got alot of Pro's and Con's going for it.

I am a Newbie for say to speak of Online Marketing. I've been at this for oh over 5 years now. And the few things that do Stand out in mind is that I too have always heard and belive that List building is where any Online Marketer is going to make his/her bread and butter.

Simply put to me as a Newbie without someone to send anything whether it is affiliate products or merchandise. You will never reach anyone with making some form of contact with them. Which means you are Building a List. Simple really.

Unless you dont know how to manipulate and use that information to do followups.

I can say honestly that 100% of Newbies and Semi-Newbies are like me. We dont have a clue what the heck we are doing. And thus in the end we are the 98% that dont make it.

So when you can figure out how to give a Newbie a List that works without over burdening that List and giving them the Power and Knowledge to manage a list and teach us how to do followup sales on the backend. Then everything that everyone thinks and suggest is not going to make a hill of beans. All it is going to do is create more 98% users that never make it and are left with Bad taste in their mouth.

It is better to pay and stay - than give and go.

I honestly think the timeframe is unrealistic.

That said, I personally can easily take $300 and spend two weeks putting together an affiliate site that will rank in Google sometime in the next 6 months and make $3k/ a month.... but I've been doing this for 4 years now. I have a system.

I think that is where most of us newbies go wrong. We see advertisements "make $6k in 4 weeks" but what those marketers don't tell us is that back in college they were failing biology so they could take their tuition money and also fail at online business, too. (That was me. Looking back I've played with IM off and on for over 12 years now).

They didn't come from no where and make that kind of money in that kind of time. There is a backstory -- maybe even one they don't see.

The ideal situation is to find a mentor or system and implement that as hard and as fast as you can.

But, having been in the IM world for awhile, I can say that I haven't found many systems that truly teach it all. Startup Bros has a good one for Amazon FBA, Alex Becker's new Source University looks promising, I'm launching my Cubicle Houdini system in April.... But those are just a few winners among the sea of thousands of dollars I've thrown away buying stupid courses.

Few course-makers test their courses like they should before launch.

The bottom line is to figure out A) how to solve a problem and B) make money off of that solution.

Here are some of the ways I've done that:

1. SEO: we solve the business owner's problem of not ranking by causing them to rank and charging them a monthly fee for that service.
2. SEO: We solve the customer's problem that they search for in google by ranking solutions and collecting an affiliate commission.
3. Craigslist Arbitrage: We solve the buyer's need for an object by sourcing it at a garage sale or auction and putting it on Craigslist where it is easily searchable. .

Hi,

I am sorry to say but There is no such thing as a passive income in the world of Internet Marketing, newbies are fooled by the so-called gurus who make them believe they will be millionaires overnight.

Generating on consistent income online requires a great deal of trial / error then success. My advice for a newbie is to go with affiliate marketing and here's a compete system how you would be successful in perhaps 3-6 months :

- Choose a profitable niche where you know people are spending a lot money in (Health, Dating, IM, business, forex, personal development, ........).

- Create a squeeze page and offer something for FREE to the visitors (E-book, trainings, video series,.....)

- Link your squeeze page with an Autoresponder in order to build your email list.

- Get traffic to your squeeze page (Facebook ads, Ad swaps, forums, guest blogging....)

- Provide real value to your email list, vary the type of emails you send so as not to bore your subscribers.

- Promote affiliate products in your niche (Clickbank, Jvzoo....), and get a commission on each sale.

- The more your list will grow, the more money you'll make.

Cheers

Someone mentioned diversify which is good advice. I say this because I tried a lot of different ideas and was surprised to see which is effective and which isn't. Also, the beautiful thing is this income happens forever - all one needs to do is put in the work. So instead of concentrating on one little thing try a bunch of ideas. You'll not only learn more but you'll also have different revenue streams. Some will fail but some will succeed - even if it's only a bit of money a month. Then once you realize what's working you do more if it.

Hello Grateful Warrior,

I've picked up a lot of value from this thread. I have not ever posted in warrior forum before- but this thread was emailed to me and caught my interest.

I got out of traditional business and back into mlm 3 years ago. I started out trying to learn the "internet marketing" the first 6 months and ended up spending more money than making.
I did do a lot of blogging, got a capture page, and attempted to build a list, tried some solo ads and a few fb ads.

Finally i got tired of waiting and started doing what i know how to do- talk to people- along with hangouts to sell my opportunity and youtube videos.

I went on to do 2 programs which both earned me 6 figures within 6 months respectively.
Both had "passive income" components involved- but they were not well run. One closed. One just changed everything.

My current program i've earned over 2.5 million in 18 months. I still don't know the internet marketing. I don't have the patience to slow down and learn what i need to learn- because like you said- it's not an "income building" activity to spend all your time trying to learn how to be an "internet marketer". You make money spending 80% of your time selling- and that's the case whether it's selling offers like most of the people on here- or building you mlm.

I'd actually like to connect with someone like you who can help guide and direct us on a few "internet marketing" techniques guided by someone who knows what they are doing.

I'd like to create a training product of some sort with me and my husbands success- because that is something that we will always be able to sell and promote whether the mlm industry goes up or down.

With regard to your question about passive income programs- there are many out there and yes the average person can earn full time income in short order. The only problem is most "passive income" programs are short-lived- because something for nothing generally runs out at some point. But there are some that have sustained for over a year.

I am going to try to take a few of your points and make a goal to apply 1.

I think a beginner- which i am- but even moreso the ones who have a full-time job- would take a lot of time and effort to learn the skills you have.

Appreciate your commentary. And love to connect with you. I definitely need to set aside some time everyday to talk with people with your particular skills and keep learning skills to develop a different set of skills that will only complement what i do already.

Now i have to get to some business building activities and talk to some new people.

All the best

OK, I feel its time I step in with my take on this. I am neither a newby nor am I a 'super' anything. It took me 2 years before I started making any money online.

I paid for training - that was a four figure sum gone! If the training does not fit your skillset/midset then its a waste of money, that's assuming the trainers you choose a genuine and believe me there are charlatans everywhere in this industry.

I hear the same advice on WF over and over, build a list, affiliate marketing, product creation, etc etc. It all costs money. You need an autoresponder, costs money, you need hosting and a domain name, costs money, buy this, outsource that. It all costs money which when you start you do not have.

find something you can do, even if it only earns a small amount to begin with. Use this to buy the training you need together with all the other bits and pieces. Ensure you spend wisely. Only buy WSO's that add to the knowledge you need to get you to your ultimate goal. Use the 'search' facility on WF and you can often find the info you need for free.

Avoid "bright shiny objects". If a product sales page starts - '$10,000 in 28 days!' or something similar, recognise it for what it is, a money and time sucking monster.

Most of all, start building relationships with others on the same journey.

If you have a niche site that has constant traffic from google every month, you can just start creating the next one. It has always worked and will always work. That's passive income by definition, once you've set it up (which takes dedication!)

Its not easy as 1-2-3 to earn $3K to $5K in few months when you are beginners. I know there are lot of tips and tricks to earn money but in start when you are learner, its not easy to get it.

Some people work as freelancers, few start with affiliation but all these things required time to reach this figure

Some key's to the right passive income business model: repeatable, scalable, flexable and ideally fairly simple

A few other ways to earn 'passive' income, although some small maintenance work may still be required but remember you can outsource that work!

1. Kindle, Physical book publishing (you need to build up enough momentum to keep your book ranked high enough in order to take advantage of the in built traffic)

2. Offline services with recurring payments attached like a website and traffic package or lead gen. sure clients will call you (some more than others) but the actual maintenance work can be outsourced... plus the right client will pay you well assuming you can provide what they need.

3. Service As A Script (Saas) build something awesome and useful then create a traffic plan or use inbuilt traffic platform such as a mobile app.

All of these work as long as you put in the effort and motivate yourself to keep at it!

FYI I've been making money online since 2008 and have tried many things

I would say that for a beginner, the ability to generate traffic is the hardest part. Most don't have the money to do a lot of advertising, or if they do, they're not likely to know how to spend it wisely. They tend to be frugal with their ad spends and fail to grow at a rate that is likely to give them enough income to continue working until they learn how to manage their promotions.

Next you have the differentiation between upfront payouts with no recurring backend, and recurring payouts that don't have a big upside. Getting a good balance with converting products/offers at the right time can mean the difference between generating quick income to put back into growth versus not having enough capital to grow a network. A lot of new affiliates go for the quick buck and burn out when they are faced with a month without a decent payout over all and again, no stake for continued advertising.

Then you come to the point of figuring out how to get some traffic but not particularly understanding what the marketer/affiliate needs to do with the traffic on their end to make it convert better with the advertiser (this is assuming you have an advertiser that converts decently) to increase the ratios and income.

And there's always the newbie issue of becoming too enthralled with stats and not paying enough attention to the payout amount. It's great to see conversions but bank tellers don't cash those reports, they only care about the real money going into the bank account.

To do well with passive income over the long term, the products have to either have a universal appeal that won't drop quickly when something newer, better, shinier comes along, or the products being sold have to have a hook that causes the buyer to continue to pay for a decent length of time.

The plugin is FeedWordPress, but again, I don't recommend this approach as you could get penalized by Google for duplicate content. I've gotten lucky so far. You definitely don't want to lose your Adsense account.

I use three additional plugins to optimize the main FeedWordPress plugin; they are:

1. FeedWordPress Advanced Filters
2. FeedWordPress Duplicate Post Filter

I see a lot of people here recommending list building and product creation as the best passive income approach.

That is a great model but i don't think it qualifies as a passive income model.
For one thing, from a marketer's perspective, what is a list? It's a group of people who've expressed an interest in learning something, buying something (because there is some result they are seeking) or contributing to a cause. They are real, living and breathing people. If I create products or services that they love, many of them are likely to buy some or all of them at some point in the cycle of relationship building because I've established value and they trust me. Say I have a website that gets traffic, where they can buy said product(s). Even if I've set up a 60-email autoresponder series and have my shopping cart working 24/7; even if I've outsourced the bulk of the day-to-day duties so I'm not a de-facto "employee" of my business, I'm still responsible to those subscribers/buyers. It's by no means a hands-off, truly passive income stream. There's customer service to attend to; joint ventures, list swaps, affiliate management, you know the drill.

So, what's passive income?

Examples of passive income sources are securities, the residuals from owning a network marketing business or real estate investments. (In the case of MLM, the residuals come from commissions, overrides and bonus income based upon recruiting other members - so there's a LOT of legwork upfront.)

Jerry Seinfeld earns residual income because his 1990s TV series still pays him, even though he hasn't done any of the shows since the show ended its run. That's the idea behind MLM, too.

My definition of passive income is money that comes to me without me having to do new work to sell something over and over to get it. I create the thing once, hang it up and money flows out of it month after month.

Thing is, you have to actually set up the entity that leads to the recurring income. And that's work. But at least it's work that you don't have to do over and over again.

It's about building assets. The assets are what generates the passive part of the income.

I have been looking for years for online income. I know it takes money to make money. The money I make online right now isn't much but could be better and will be better as I learn more about what I am doing and progress towards my goal.
However, I have seen a lot of companies promoting this "make x$ in X days" just do this. But they never fully explain from step a to step whatever to just do..I have never been good at affiliate marketing, and am not good with mlm either. Don't have the focus or the drive to make it work for me. I don't like the email marketing, hate those things in my email... So that doesn't leave much for making real money online.
I don't have the money to spend on outsourcing, ads, and such. My current project I have spent years working on and it is still not making money(yet). I know it will be because I won't give up on it. But, I just can't focus on those other things. I don't have the time to spend hunting down the legitimate ones (which seem to be one in a million). Most are ones that are out for your money and that is how they get their millions. By selling something to someone desperate enough to pay for it.
Now I am not saying that anyone here is like that, but when you have run into enough of that kind of stuff, it's hard to get a real grip on any of it. Even the newbie courses aren't exactly for newbies. They all expect you to have some knowledge of what you are doing before you do it. I am computer illiterate, if I can't turn it on, click on it, and make it work or go where I want, I am lost. I am learning programming when I can, so can maybe try that, but doing it mostly for myself.
For me there is not that many ways out there for me to make money online. It is just too time involved, not understood, or just too expensive to get into. Even though you guys make the hard work seem like it's a piece of cake it's because you have been doing it for so long and have found what works for you. That's great, I take my hat off to you. Not many can make a successful living on the internet, not long term anyways.
So I ask is there anything out there that doesnt involve mlm, email marketing, or other costly ventures. I don't have a lot to spend, what I am currently doing makes money(not gonna self promote by saying what it is) but, I would like another source of income to go with it. Something to add to my current venture. I don't want to get rich quick. That's what lotteries are for..(wouldn't that be nice). But I would like to have some extra income.
Enough rattling on. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

By passive income if you mean automatic income for the rest of your life once the hard work is done, forget it.

You still have to maintain it and keep on working it for as long as you want it to prosper, otherwise it will eventually die out.

Nothing stays the same, so does the market. It changes. You must too.

Therefore there's no such thing as a passive income. Period.

Well, royalties from a book are passive income. It gets back to the quote earlier, " work hard for 5 years and enjoy life 50 vs work hard for 50 and enjoy life for 5" (when you're too old to enjoy it! If you research about evergreen topics and publish some books on Amazon - there are many great ebooks and systems for doing this, and some have made a lot of truly passive income. You need to do te work upfront to get ranked and get positive reviews but most people go to the internet looking for information.

The reason you see "residual income" and "passive income" so often mentioned in sales copy online is simple...it draws people in. Everyone wants an income that requires no effort on their part.

Is there anyone who would not prefer to work for a short time and collect money for many years? Another saying that tells people what they want to hear.

I think that, if it were that easy to make that much money in just a few short months, everyone would already be doing it
I also think that generating passive income depends on everyone's skills. Some may be great at writing books, so it would be easy for them to write books, sell them online and generate a nice revenue.
Affiliate marketing also comes to mind, but you'd have to put in some effort first.

Making a passive income in internet marketing is very much possible but like others have said, requires a great deal of knowledge and trying out what works and what doesn't.

Affiliate and email marketing is definitely your way to go to start building your online presence and gradually build up from there. Clickbank is definitely one of the best and largest market places for affiliate products, so i suggest you choose a niche and select the products you want to promote using Clickbank .

Also be sure to invest in an autoresponder and a squeeze page to start building your list.

Actually our group is making $6000 - $8000 per month (in profits) by using 2 ways:

1 - selling our own products/services
2 - passive business model ( network marketing model)

My personal opinion? The best "Passive" business model is the one that give you the most profits while you invest the less amount of time...

I've not gotten into selling PLR, but my first thought would be to build a list of Internet marketers and sell it to them. Ken Reno has a good email marketing model he uses. You may want to get on his list for ideas on what to promote to such a list once you've developed it and how to word your emails. I get emails from him almost every day and it's often good stuff. You can also ask around in the forum for a recommendation on a good list-building course specifically aimed at getting Internet marketing subscribers.

I don't think that can be done in 5 months. Any venture takes at least a year to get a foothold is what I've learned. The only special circumstance is when you have a significant connection or influence in a certain field. Then and only then do you have leverage to build on. Otherwise you'll be building that leverage from scratch... and in 5-6 months?

Here is my abbreviated story. I began web dev to do in fact exactly what you mentioned, build an online business or web project that generates income. I went all in. After about 1.5 years I even went as far as moving home to moms to make sure that I had in fact "gone all in".

While I did become a killer web developer I could not pay my bills and was living on about $300 per month for the past 5 years. Within the last year I "gave in" and began freelance web developing for design firms and just landed a full time job converting a niche company's old websites to responsive layouts. Am I still "all in"? Yes very much so.

There is not a day when I don't work on my projects after work till I go to bed. Do I still operate on about $300 per month? Yes, other than the fact that my day job pays for my food, rent and car.

The main point I have is that the most common mistake entrepreneurs make is quitting their day job too soon. This is concrete to me. I would suggest that if you truly want to quit your day job before your project handles your bills the only reason to do so would be to work at a firm, business or establishment that lowers your barrier to entry within that niche.

Yes, the only way to quit your day job to work on a project full time successfully would be a very special case. One that outperforms the counter question "can you pay your bills?"

One that outperforms the counter argument "can you pay your bills".
There are several ways you could monetize your skills without working for someone else. I would love to have your skills.

Work to to your strengths.

I would like to know the answer as well. I've been struggling in Internet Marketing for over a year.

Since then I was suffering Shining Object Syndrome, have bought dozens of WSO, one after another but nothing work out.

After all the trial and error, finally, I was managed to put up a squeeze page with a auto-responder, of which I'm offering my free e-book and videos for opt-in.

For more than a month I've been trying out all the free traffic methods, unfortunately, I could only get 1 opt-in and no sales at all!

Can somebody help me please? SOS !!

Sell leads to traditional business. It's not really online marketing but damn is it easy. See madrank -> SEMeasy -> SEO show. and others. Probably the easiest way to quit your job, I'd say it requires a fair amount of common sense (in regards to learning SEO basics) and about 1 month learning. But you can get clients in the meantime and close them with ease using the 3 step madrank formular. Outsource the SEO work, but manage it yourself.

Personally I am part of a project being headed by Jens Steyaert. The project itself will be 100% passive income but the best part for me is I'm working with people who really know what they are doing in the IM world. Unlike many such projects its open to newbies and as helping one helps all its becoming a great place to learn.

I think the biggest thing for a newbie is to stop looking for that magic button that you "just press/install and cash in." To be successful you need to keep up to date with market trends and put the effort in to make sites unique and original giving value.

You can make money with affiliate marketing, it's a good passive income stream but to make real money online you need your own product out there with lots of buy buttons. People wonder why they aren't making sales when they only have a few links online.

And finally you must keep at it! Many give up too early. You learn by DOING and making mistakes. Choose one niche and work at it until you succeed before moving on to other things. You can be great at doing one thing right, and just mediocre trying to do 10 things great. So search for what feels a good fit for you and get stuck in!

I don't necessarily think it's a matter of finding the perfect method or system as it is finding your strengths and skills and maximizing those.

Most people come to the internet looking for it to tell them what to focus on, when really.. they should be thinking of their passions and hobbies, their innate skills and abilities and building an online presence around those. I think this is a fundamental step to creating something lasting, something that will succeed and something that will build upon who you are and what you're already good at, sharpening and strengthening the skills you innately have.

Then I think it's a matter of action, find a way to monetize your innate skills and abilities.
Find a really good coach or if you're confident enough do it all yourself.
Build your sales funnel, after you create your offer / product etc.
Then build your marketing campaign, use Facebook traffic or whatever you want / applies.
Send Traffic to your funnel, split test with a small test budget, tweak your offers, find out what works.. when you find the offer and which of your offer pages convert the best, put your money into that marketing campaign and provided your conversions stay the same you should make some pretty good money, while building a list you can use to monetize later with different offers... This all depends on your offer because if you end up selling something physical you'd definitely do things a bit differently, same if you were offering a service.

Me, personally... I think it's better to do something you're passionate about, or already have as a hobby, or something you're already skilled at then it is to follow the herd mentality of "what can I copy" for success?

The best passive income I have developed to date came from Network Marketing (MLM). Started in 2007. Worked it full time for 3 years to a 6 figure income. In the last 3 years have not put more than a couple of hours into it and I still get monthly checks.

Making that kind of money for a beginner in that time frame would be difficult, but not impossible. If they work hard and apply what why learn then it can work. You can definitely do it with the right product/program, training, coaching and big one: MINDSET.

Be willing to keep working hard even if you don't achieve your goal at first and learn along the way. Never give up.

All great advice. And I, too, am convinced that mindset is the key that most people are missing.

We tend to get what we expect to get, and we each have a programmed "glass ceiling" in our mind of what our income level should be. This is usually based on our parents' income level. We have to consciously go beyond the resistance (and self-sabotage) that this programming causes when we get close to going beyond it. There are numerous inner methods and tools that help us do this, but it takes a firm decision to do so, as the mind can really put up a fight to hold onto its programming.

There is no magic formula where you put in less than a hundred bucks and start making thousands over night. Except for selling that snake oil to people, and even then you're not going to get traffic for nothing to start hawking your "learn to" courses to generate income.

I've been working with affiliates since '99, and the successful ones have a couple of things in common, across the variety of products they represent.

1. Find a niche and develop it. If everyone is pushing credit repair and (relatively) no one is pushing re-finance, then you'd probably be better off with fewer people looking for refinancing than competing with X times more people trying to get X times more eyeballs.

2. Test as effectively as you can with the $ you have available. Do NOT put out 20 different pages, ads, whatever and dilute your nut to 5% to do it. Pick one or two things, put 90% of your available funds to testing them, but make sure you can stop the campaigns quickly if they are not working.

3. Pay attention to your test results. Either your traffic or your campaign is not working if you aren't generating leads, revenue, whatever your metric is. Continuing to spend more time and money on these unproductive methods leads to more unproductive days and less income earned.

4. Once you find a promising method of converting, push more of your time/funds at that method to determine if it really is working or it;s just a blip. It won't continue to work forever, so keep an eye on the trending data and always be looking for your next marketing tool.

This isn't rocket science but you do have to pay attention; otherwise you're just going to burn out because you had a scattershot effort that didn't produce or you'll go broke trying to do fifteen things badly when you could have done a couple decently.

Regular Passive income of $3k - $5 can be achieved if you promote a good paying affiliate program. But within 2-5 months is nearly impossible in my opinion. The best way to keep your affiliate link available for everyone is by creating a niche website. For example: XYZ is a hosting company which is really good. You can create a website focusing on xyzhostingcoupons. SEO optimize your website. Write revelant articles in the blog section that promotes the hosting provider and on your home page, regularly update coupon codes with your affiliate link masked onto it. So whenever someone searches for a coupon code, they may land on your website and click on the affiliate link while copying the coupon code. But it will take time, atleast 1-2 year.

Another option is to publish a sponsored post on a high traffic blog. If the blog owner allows affiliate link in the body then you are good to go. Make a one time investment and relax.

Nice thread, it will help a lot of newbies who desire to make IM a full time job.

I am talking just regarding affiliate marketing here...I would first research about the company's operational years, how long the company is in market, how many satisfied customers it has, what is the potential of the industry it operates in. These will help in deciding the legitimacy and longevity of the company. Then I would check their compensation plan, percentage of commission on sales, the width and depth of the matrix. There will be some affiliates who would be new and in the learning phase (but they are ready to put efforts) who will not be able to increase their team quickly, so in that case whether the compensation plan has provision of spillovers so that every person can reach Financial Freedom.
These are the some questions that might decide zero in.

Wish you luck!

People don't make money for 2 reasons:
1. They over complicate things
2. They never take action

It's simple (not easy) to make money online in a considerable timeframe (2 - 5 months) if you actually commit to it.

Since I do only paid traffic, my recommendation is:

Bing + CPA/affiliate products

Why? you may say there are tons of products here in the WF talking about it and the reason being is because IT WORKS!
• Find an Offer to promote
• Setup your tracking correctly
• Create your Ads
• Analyze your stats
• Optimize

Hope It helps!

Do you know about these guys, Payme0. They have profitable affiliate websites. I took this step when I was so frustrated reading negativity in almost every method you get out there to make money. I just took a beat. Calm myself and went to flippa to get a quick start. I found one of their guys before even they formed payme0. He was super transparent, very quick with the results. You can start by making $1K first month and wrap up to $7K any time you feel comfortable that everything is working as promised.

I think the key words here are "Passive" and "Residual" - there's plenty of IM systems that we all do, and can do, that generate income. But how many are actually truely passive and residual - ie set up, then leave, and they carry on earning, and hopefully growing, hands off, without any intervention.

I know Alex Jeffreys, have been to Uk IM events where he has spoken - very inspiring, his methods, are good for list building, and IM product income etc, and I'm sure he earns a good passive income now, from memberships, drip feed info products, product sales etc.

An affiliate or CPA site which gets good traffic will produce a residual income, a lot depends on what level though, and probably some element of blogging or driving traffic to it is needed.

MLM and building a team that grows is promoted very much as building a residual, but a lot of folks in it still seem to spend time on it, albeit in a style that seems like it isn't work. - Sounds good ! There's a few mentions in this thread already of people who say they're doing ok with mlm. I'm also building one at the moment, as well as other income streams, so have the plan!

One could say that building a traditional biz, then getting in a good manager builds a residual, or eg property letting.

I think, maybe the timescale of a few weeks as mentioned may not be realistic, and also, we all need to change with the times, and technology, so what you set up now, may need over time

there is a saying - work hard for 5 years then rest for 50, rather than work for 50 and rest for 5 in a J.O.B. thats my plan

I'm definitely watching this thread for tips and nuggets, as I think all of us want to get there in some way

This is a GREAT quote. I've never heard it put that way before. This is definitely something to keep in mind as entrepreneurs. Thanks for sharing that.

One of the biggest mistakes I've made was waiting to focus on passive, residual income even though I had the knowledge of PRI, and instead I continued to focus on making money over and over again versus doing the work once in setting up a system where it would continue coming in. Isn't that like the definition of stupidity? I think it probably is.

It makes absolutely no sense to wait on putting focus and effort into developing passive, residual income. Zero. Nada. Zilch. You have to do the work anyway! So why not focus on making it passive, residual?

I highly encourage anyone reading this to not be stupid like I was. Get on the "Work 5, Rest for 50" plan immediately, starting today. Otherwise, you're just being dumb and inefficient like I was. I know I'm not always the sharpest knife in the drawer, so I expect the braniacs and geniuses here to be smarter than I was.

Even if one or more elements in a passive system needs to be changed or tweaked occasionally--SO WHAT?! The time savings up to and after that point will have been enormous. And, even if a system were to completely and irreparably "break" or fail to work after a period of time, thus requiring a new passive system to be constructed (or relied upon more heavily if already built), you will still have saved yourself so much time from having to work on that income stream while it was functioning smoothly.

I think, oftentimes, even if a marketer KNOWS they should be focusing on developing PRI, they resist it because they fear it won't last forever. But this is crazy, because even if it doesn't last, you will still have freed up a TON of your time during the period that it was working passively for you. I think it's the old "Fear of loss is greater than the desire for gain" principle that marketers know and apply so well to their prospects, yet fail to recognize when it's actually running them and influencing their decisions.

I'm under no illusions. I know that my current PRI stream (yes, only one right now) could stop at any time due to factors outside my control. This just happened actually. The site went down for several days. Thankfully, I was eventually able to restore it because I backed up the site. However, I really wasn't sure there for a few days if it would ever come back online the way it was. I thought it might have ended right then and there... which brings this thread to ANOTHER very important point that I've failed to mention up until now. That point is: you must develop 'MULTIPLE STREAMS.'

When you get one PRI stream in place, use your time freedom to work on implementing another one in order to create MULTIPLE STREAMS of PASSIVE, RESIDUAL INCOME.

If you focus on developing only one, then you're always going to wonder if that stream will continue to work for you or not. If you diversify -- just like in a healthy investment portfolio -- you will be spreading your eggs amongst several baskets and will be far less likely to be caught off-guard if one or more of those baskets suddenly vanishes.

One way to do this is to focus on developing/implementing a PRI system relying heavily on simple automation or easy outsourcing that can be universally applied to other niches and easily duplicated, as well as partially outsourced if there are elements that can't be totally automated using technology.

Thus, you'll have system A working for you. It's working great. You have a steady full-time passive income. Then, you'll use that free time to set up system B using the same effective method -- in the same niche if it really looks to be a good, stable, long-term niche, or in a new niche that you see is just starting to head UP the Bell Curve in its life cycle. Then, you'll use that free time to set up systems C, D, etc.

It's much like those entertainers that (although with far less ongoing input required!). They don't get all the plates spinning at once. They get plate A spinning. Then they get plate B spinning. Then they get plate C spinning. Before they know it, many plates are spinning, requiring a little input now and then to keep them all spinning (and that ongoing input should be easy to outsource or automate in an efficient PRI system).

CYCLES are important to recognize, too. Every product and every business (everything in the universe, in fact), follows a cycle. It has a birth (low point), a middle (high point) and an end (low point) on a predictable bell curve...

We can't avoid cycles, but we can certainly ride them to the top. The famous investment mogul, W. Clement Stone, taught these principles. He was also a former president of the Foundation for the Study of Cycles created at the behest of President Hoover to see if the Great Depression could have been predicted and if future ones could be avoided. Fascinating stuff.

The key is to look for trends that are near the beginning of their bell curve, heading upward with plenty of growth ahead of them, and create a business (preferably a passive, residual business) out of them. When they are at their peak, you can either A) Sell the business or product rights to someone else (cash out at the top--preferably with ongoing royalties); B) Change your business and/or product focus to something else that's currently heading upward in its cycle, with plenty more room for growth; C) Go down in flames riding the cycle straight into the ground.

Smart folks do A or B. Dumb folks do C. I hope to demonstrate A or B.

Anyway, CYCLES and MULTIPLE STREAMS are two major keys that apply to passive, residual income. You need to be aware of and take advantage of both if you really want PRI to work for you long term.

A lot can be added to this discussion, so please chime in with your thoughts.

How about effectively automating and systematizing at least 90-95% of the process of creating these multiple streams of PRI? Talk about leverage. Is it possible? Yes, anything's possible if you put your mind to it. Nature uses systems and cycles all the time. The person that figures out how to do this in Internet marketing would likely become very, very wealthy. Perhaps it will be partially based on Pi, Golden Ratio and Fibonacci sequence?

I decided to use Google Places listing that I would own - not for a client. I understood that Google was the new "Yellow Pages" or Phone Book”, and it was free to create these listings. I ranked at the Top of Google within 5 MINUTES with a listing in Sacramento.

I used a unique phone number for call tracking purposes and forwarded it to one of my clients charging them a Pay-Per-Call fee for each call received. I understood the best method to retain customers was to always be able to show them the value they were receiving each month from my services. The best way to do that was to charge them for each call received and then track the sales they generated from those calls. My clients know the exact ROI ( return on investment they are getting for my services today. That first listing generated me $1800 in it's first month and to this day 5 years latter still generates $1500 to $2000 every month!

So I began to create Google Places listings in large cities all over the US each. I have that same client today 5 years latter. Along with my other clients that have been with me for 3-5 years now paying me an average of $30K monthly. It was maybe a 1 to 2 years latter I started to see others had figured out what I had and I had lots of competition. So Google began to change their algorithms and the requirements to be listed in Google Places. It became much more challenging to rank in this area and to this day requires a number of tips, tricks and strategies that I am sure 95% of other IM marketers don't know.

This actually turned out to be good because it has kept 90% of my competitors from ranking.

I have well over a hundred listings I personally own and most are in the 1st & 2nd position in Google Places. I have an online call tracking platform that records & tracks every call for myself and my clients. The tracking system tracks many variables including length of the calls. So, I now only charge my clients for calls more than 45 seconds long to weed out the solicitor calls, wrong numbers etc.

I have a team that continually tests different strategies for ranking in Google Places.

Truth be told I have spent only 1-3 hours a month for the last 4 years and average $30K per month. My time is spent running reports each month and generating invoices to bill my clients for calls based on those reports and discussing ranking strategies for GP.

So here I am today spending more time writing this email than I do in 2 weeks a month for my business.

Best,

John

That is so fantastic!! Way to go! Congratulations on grabbing the brass ring and showing it can be done. Things change so quickly but as Grateful Warrior says, it makes sense to go after the PRI and keep trying until something works. I have a very well-read blog but can't seem to monetize it...the usual strategies make my list shrink to nothing overnight...not spender they just want info...maybe pointing to affiliate links for more info in books at Amazon...

As far as IM systems, I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said. The closest thing I make that comes to "passive income" is book sales.

What I haven't seen mentioned though is simply investing your income into stocks/bonds. Long-term index investing is the way to go for safe, passive dividend income (although ideally you'll reinvest those for as long as possible.)

It's probably the closest thing to passive income in existence, so it may be better off to work hard and actively earn income and use that to slowly build up the passive stream as well.

This advice for newbies.

Don't spend money for any program that promise you can earn thousands of dollars in a certain period of time easily until you learn how to:

1) Develop a website using a CMS (ex: WordPress)
2) Generate some targeted traffic organically (SEO) to your website (at least 100 per day).
3) Use other channels (ex: social media, email marketing and etc.) effectively to generate targeted traffic
4) Check the progress using Google Analytics

Once you learned above things I am sure that you won't go after those programs

So Grateful Warrior my question for yourself is simply, if you were advising someone on getting started in IM, lets say Affiliate Marketing. What would your BASIC step by step system be for them... i.e,

.Build A Website
.Create content....

etc etc.

Thanks again all participants.

Have a look around this forum jaus17 - a lot depends on what you want to do, how much time you dedicate to it etc - a lot of folks start with affiliate marketing, sometimes attached to blogging, as there is very little start up cost. There are "done for you" start up packages in IM and various disciplines, or MLM, or you could go down the dropshipping route - what country are you in?

I have analyzed a few options. I can tell you that I have this full time job but I can dedicate at least 3-4 hours daily. I'm located in El Salvador btw.

Good stuff. I work on the internet since 15 years (I started it in 1999/2000) and I am getting passive residual income since 13 years.
At the beginning I had an offline job (traditional) in order to educate myself and launch my business on the internet

I recommend fiverr as a promising way to make residual, passive income online. Join fiverr and start selling right away. There's no limit to the amount of income you can generate online with fiverr.

You can withdraw your earnings either using payoneer, paypal, or fiverr mastercard.

Your own sites with unique quality content, listed on the first page of major search engines.
This way you always get quality traffic that converts.

Find something that has a recurring payment and/or something that the user will reorder and that you will get credited for ALL the futur sales
{{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9953986].message }}
• Paid advertising is the only way to get traffic and make sales. You can get an affiliate offer that sells for $100+ to promote, and start an afly, facebook or pintrest, plenty of fish campaign for $80 and drive 100,000 people to your offer in less than a day.

Remember you just need one or two sales to break even. Rinse and repeat daily and you will have $10,000.00 per month.

Make sure you send that traffic to an opt in page first to build your list.

Since you have a working job then you have a budget and means that you can forego free techniques which are time consuming and jump into some paid advertising that will allow you to see profit a lot quicker.

What I recommend you do is to do research and create your own product about anything you are passionate about. Write a detailed guide it can be anything literally from cooking, to losing weight, to how to knit a skirt. Whatever it is you know a lot about make it into a pdf, create a website and upload it.

However, if you are unable to do this pick up an affiliate product from clickbank which is the cheaper option, as you dont have to pay for website hosting.

Next, create a bing ads account, it is much cheaper than google adwords when it comes to paying for keywords. Enter keywords that describe the product you are promoting, create a text ad and lead it to your product or affiliate link.

Set a budget for about $10 a day and you should see some conversions within the first week which will generate you a nice profit. As you make some money reinvest it back into your business so you can increase your budget and increase your profit!

Hope this Helps!

Hi Warriors,

I believe affiliate marketing still remains a good source of passive income, but I don't think that it can make you rich in just a few months.

Advertising and selling e-books on Amazon is also a good source of money, as long as you have someone else writing the books for you.

Coming up with a new and totally innovative product / service and selling it online is also a great idea, but this requires a lot of effort and cannot be done in 3-5 months.

Anything you choose to do, keep in mind that it will require you to work not from 9 to 5, but from 9 to 9. You will have to invest a lot of effort and time to make something right and profitable, but in time, you will see the results. Good luck!

May I share the following for Generating Passive Residual Income:

1. Investing in rental properties.
2. Investing in dividend paying stocks
3. Creating Search Engine Optimized affiliate sites that stick to the top ten Search engine rankings.
4. Creating an hot selling information product and getting partners to market the product on your behalf.

What is working for me now are 3 and 4. Looking forward to hit to 1 and 2 in the future.

There are a lot of work to be done to set the pipelines before the income flows passively.

Panda didn't seem to affect me. I don't know why. Also, Google tells me in my Adsense admin panel that the fact that my site is non-mobile-optimized (i.e. non-responsive layout) is now being considered a ranking factor, but I've seen little impact on my traffic so far. I will be upgrading to a responsive design, though.

I recently began monetizing my list. The site's revenue was entirely from ads and ClickBank sales, but I'm now promoting to my rather small list. The result was $20,000 in sales in the first week. I'm very happy with this, as it was mostly from sending a few emails (rather long ones that educated my subscribers on what I was selling) combined with a live teleseminar.

In any event, I'm now scaling up a similar promo of the same product sending two solo emails to a rented list that is 50 times larger than my list. I'll let you know how it goes. I've had good luck with this list in the past. It's not a beat-to-death solo list so it should do very well. My projections are obviously much lower than for my own list which knows, likes and trusts me.

For you number geeks, here are the conversions I'm looking to achieve per 1,000 subscribers. This should be rather conservative based on the numbers I've seen with this list with a very similar product I promoted with them that was priced about 50% less:

Totals across two solo emails...

1,000 subscribers x 0.3 open rate = 300 opens

300 opens x 0.2 CTR = 60 click-thrus

60 click-thrus x 0.3 webinar opt-in rate = 18 registered to attend

18 registered x 0.5 actual attendees = 9 webinar attendees (per 1,000)

9 attendees x 0.1 sales conversion rate = 0.9 sales per 1,000 subscribers

The actual list size is a couple hundred thousand.

Hopefully my math is correct.

And yes, this is a high ticket item.

For newbies, each step above will need to be honed and tweaked to make sure I reach and/or exceed the conversion goal set for that step. If one step breaks, the entire promotion can flop. Attention to detail is critical.

I'm also, as you may have surmised by the thread title, working to turn this into an automated sales system so that it is as close to passive as possible after this first live webinar.

I'll report back after the webinar to let you know what how it went.

Yes, there are definitely other forms of PRI like stocks, real estate, etc. However, each person will have their own area of expertise. I do best with investing in my own online businesses.

I seem to have a knack for picking good stocks, and the stocks I invested in years ago were up over 1,000% last I checked a couple of days ago, but that took about 15 years to get there, and I DO NOT TRUST this market. It's extremely over-inflated and can collapse at any time. I think the dollar is going to take a massive nosedive soon.

Meanwhile, my ROI from online promotions can be 10,000%+ in a month's time, relying on my intellectual capital and sweat equity instead of cash investment. Generally, the ROI from businesses far, far surpasses what one would ever see from stocks, precious metals, real estate, etc. That's not to say there's anything wrong with those other avenues, it's just not my own personal primary focus.

And keep in mind that to achieve a $3,000 monthly, net PRI, you'd have to have approximately $400,000 invested in stocks yielding 10% annually (taking into account 3% inflation and 15% tax). And, those funds are usually at risk.

Or, you can just put in some intelligent effort to create one or more PRI streams and forgo the need for such a hefty, high-risk investment.

My current project, when automated, should bring me at least $20,000 per month in net PRI. To achieve the same through stocks, I'd have to have almost $3,000,000 invested (using the same criteria above). Which makes more sense?

If you can develop your online marketing skills, the sky's truly the limit.

Answer: there is no such a thing as a sustainable passive business!
What a bunch of hooey! LOL!

Since deliberately developing my PRI site, I can take off weeks, months or years at a time thanks to the work I put in initially upfront. Money will continue to flow. If that's not passive residual income, then I don't know what is.

Does that mean I want to retire on a beach somewhere and let my brain rot away from lack of use? No. I enjoy working.

This is about freedom. Freedom of choice. Freedom to work or not work. Freedom to work when I want and not when I don't want.

For example, I've got a bad cold right now. I was up all night with fever, coughing, etc. Did I have to call my boss first thing this morning and explain to him or her why I can't come in and worry about them thinking I'm making up some lame excuse in order to stay home and enjoy the beautiful weather today? No. I don't have to work. Period. Every day is "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" as far as I'm concerned.

Instead, I'm going to the mountain lake today to take out my boat. I'm going to float around and relax in the 72 degree sunny weather, soaking up the beauty around me, as I allow my body to recuperate in a way that makes sense to me. And, I'll do the same thing tomorrow if I'd like and if the weather cooperates.

Is passive income or anything else 100% sure, permanent and impervious to life's changes? Of course not. And that's why I'm working to create one or more additional streams, in case one or more fail at some point. It's amazing how much time freedom just this one passive site has brought me.

My only regret is having not focused on generating passive, residual income MUCH SOONER! I wasted so much time and energy and threw away so much time freedom. It took the same amount of time to create this steady, PRI stream as it would have to create and execute many one-off promotions over and over again, like I'd done prior to that. That took a lot more work and made me a slave to my work.

Thanks to the steady stream of income I worked to develop, I'm not traveling to work every day or worried about money if I stop working. I usually work from my bed in a very comfy "bed chair." Right now, I'm on the sofa with my feet up on an ottoman, instead of sitting at a corporate desk like I did 15 years ago in my last job. I'm not fighting insane and aggressive rush-hour traffic like I used to, or running for the train, or going to a job I hate on someone else's schedule. I work when I want, for however long I want, and only if I want--knowing that any added income from additional work I choose to do is icing; and knowing that I absolutely love what I do, so for me it isn't work anyway. It's fun. It's play.

So, the answer to your question can usually be summed up in one word: Ignorance. Most people are ignorant when it comes to PRI, which is part of why I started this thread---to draw more attention to how valuable it is. Most either don't know, believe or think about how they can develop a passive, residual income, so they never try. They continue, out of ignorance, to exchange their hours for dollars, instead of investing the same amount of time upfront to develop one or more PRI streams that can grant them massive time freedom when everything's up and running on autopilot.

Even 50% autopilot means having to work 50% less, so it need not even be 100% PRI. It can be 50% and you just purchased 50% of your time back!

Anyway, that's my take on PRI from my own direct experience. Thank you for your post, as it gave me a chance to expound on the value of focusing the same amount of time and effort that one would be investing anyway... on developing PRI streams instead of, or in addition to, other work.

PRI is all about time freedom and it is definitely possible if one simply decides to do it, adopts a solid plan, and follows through until they succeed.

So many naysayers and negative Nellies here. I'm surprised. I guess it's no wonder so few people succeed online. The attitudes I've seen some people display in their comments in this thread are downright sucky, and success requires a positive mindset. If you don't believe in yourself, why even bother trying? Play it safe. Just get a day job and stick with that, else you're wasting your time fighting your own self-doubt.

Or, you can just GO FOR IT. Stop making lame excuses. Stop telling those who are actually doing it that it can't be done. And, most importantly, understand that with a little faith, almost anything is possible...

I think you misunderstand what passive income means...

True but some models are more passive than others.

Take the case of SaaS

Sure, you have to still work to continuously update and improve quality but it's not like a typical job.

A SaaS, once launched, requires constant work: promotion, expansion, join ventures, updates, white labeling, 2.0 versions, community management, tech support, etc. Or do you think that the guys behind companies like Lead Pages or Aweber sit back and do nothing just because their SaaS is live? If they want to thrive, they have to keep on working at full speed post-development.

Been reading this thread from the start. A lot of gems here. Though you read about a few things over and over again. That would be:

- list building
- niche sites or blogs with affiliates / Adsense

Both works. I think it boils down to which is more comfortable with. What works with me in the past is list building. But you start with something awesome and giving it away for free. Having an offer after subscription, powered with JV partners and affiliates would solve the traffic issue.

But again remember -- start with something remarkable to giveaway.

i would advice to have a target of saving up some money that you can use as leverage on your internet marketing business when you finally quit your 9-5 job. And for starters its kinda easier to start by promoting other people's stuff as an affiliate and use paid traffic for better and faster conversion. 3-5k may not come like that quick but if you keep at it and also look for a good mentor to help you cut short the learning curve and avoid some expensive mistakes, then you will be on the path to achieving your dream.

For a newbie I would recommend making an affiliate website on some micro niche topic and promote Clickbank or Amazon products. This method still works and is most easiest way, in my opinion. It can give you passive income if your traffic source is organic and from good sources like youtube and facbeook etc.

Step-1: Find a good niche and list of profitable keywords.
Step-2: Get your domain+hosting and build a WP blog with responsive theme.
Step-3: Add detailed related articles on your selected longtail keywords and embed clickbank or Amazon affiliate links within your content.
Step-4: Promote your website on free traffic sources like blog commenting, youtube videos, slideshare.net, facebook Ads etc.
Step-3: Start getting your monthly checks :-)

For full details see my website link below.

I would say trading. And if you're going to trade using charts, it's going to take a pretty long time too, because you'll need to learn and master the techniques and lose lots of money. The fastest way to earn that I know of is to use trading signals from trusted, reliable traders. You will still have losing trades, but you'll be winning 65% - 75% of the time. You can become a millionaire tomorrow, but the downside is that you'll need a lot of capital to begin with.

Marketing is tough, and a full-time job. If a marketing method is popular, it's probably already over-saturated. Take a look at Facebook for example: The world already knows that it's cheap and effective, so it's now still quite cheap but far less effective. With marketing, you'll probably be most successful if you invent your own methods and not tell anyone about it, because once you teach and people can understand your theories and see that it's working, they'll flood in and the very same marketing outlets that once worked won't work anymore. So, what we're learning in marketing courses etc are already dated methods or on their way to becoming saturated. I don't mean to sound selfish, but it is what it is.

There are still ways to promote on the popular outlets like Facebook, but you have to be extra creative and extra skilled. Even then, only the top 20% are going to succeed.
