Internet Marketing Tips & Tricks Help

Good afternoon,

I am new to this forum, so firstly - Hi!!

Myself and a friend (hopefully eventual business partner) are looking to get into the world of Internet Marketing, after having toyed with Network Marketing.
We have done a fair bit of research and we understand how it works and what we need to get us started - although confirmation of this from you guys would be appreciated.
We gather that we need to register a domain, with an auto responder, we need a click tracker, the niche & product, LOTS of traffic, a database etc etc. The aim is to eventually create and market our own product.

What I am after is some tips and tricks from people who have been through the early stages of Internet Marketing, and also any success stories. We do not want to fail and ideally want to be making money from the beginning, even if it's only enough to cover the costs of running this.

Our niche is going to be dietary/nutritional advice coupled with health and fitness advice. This is what we will focus on to begin with. If anyone already deals within this market and can share some light then please do so!

Thank you in advance for any help given!

Mike.

How far have you got so far and what level of skill/understanding of building effective websites are you at?

If you are starting right from scratch you should take a look at my site. It can guide you through the initial steps of setting up your first websites and the tasks that follow.

You are also welcome to PM me here or contact via the site if you have specific questions.

    Best of luck to you.

We will be starting from scratch! We're almost up to the point of getting a website/opt-in page developed, then we just have to sign up for the programmes and we're then ready to go live. We have a lot left to do, we know this, but we just want to ensure we do it correctly.

Although we do not have any knowledge of creating websites, we will pay a specialist to create, maintain and change the site for us. Does that sound OK?

      What's you're website URL, I'll take a look!

To be successful with your venture its going to boil down to generating targeted traffic.

Simply put More Targeted Traffic= More sales

Understanding the methods of generating targeted traffic along with having a good landing page is probably more paramount then actually having a good product when it comes to IM.

Much of internet marketing has to do marketing research and reverse engineering, if you are good at this skill then not much previous knowledge is necessary to be successful at selling a product. So a person with no previous knowledge about selling drones could easily do so online with the proper research.

Of course other factors can optmize your success and conversion rate, but the key to success online is getting targeted traffic.

Here are a list of ways to generate traffic

    1)Paid advertising
    2)Video Marketing
3)Social Media Marketing - Building an audience via facebook, twitter, tumblr etc
    4)Article Marketing
5)Forum Posting (on forums that are relevant to your niche)
    6)Social Bookmarking (Reddit,Stumbleupon,etc)
7)Web 2.0's with user generated content (Quora, Slideshar.net,Scribd)
    8)Guest Posting

  • Hi Mike,

Promoting niche sites is a good start, especially for beginners since niche sites are easy to build and maintain. I suggest you go for evergreen niche sites.

As for promoting your website- you may want to focus more on building your email list. Doing solo ads work best for me. You may also want to check on that.

quinng gave some really good tips. Advertising is the key, paid or free, both work well if you dedicate enough time and invest enough of your budget into it.

Due to both having day jobs we will be looking to pick this up after working hours and during weekends.

How quickly/slowly could we expect to gather a good sized database - somewhere around 2000 people to begin with?

The best advice I can give you: research.

What you're proposing is a big project and not even necessarily the best way to develop it. If I were you, I'd honestly devote myself to consuming various educational resources. What you can then do is ask specific questions that will slowly help you put together a strong plan of action. I wish you all the best!

The only advice I can give you today is to know that when you start with internet marketing and want to make sales right away, you will need to invest money to make money. I think too many people just focus on FREE marketing when they first get started. They don't want to spend any money on ads and then a few weeks go by and they have not made a single penny. When this happens, many QUIT.

I don't care what anyone says and many are going to disagree with me here:

It takes money to make money online.

Also your are going to get SWAMPED with information - more than you can ever use, you have to maintain a clear objective about what you are trying to accomplish. The nuts and bolts of it won't take you long - website creation is pretty easy nowadays - and more so if your outsourcing. My advice is make a written plan - try to stick to it and adjust. Don't spend money on stuff that doesn't give results. Unless you are very experienced stay away from google ads till your really sure.

And when posting on forums put a signature so people will find you Especially the health forums which will be a BIG source of traffic for you, health related is much bigger than internet marketing and easier to get a bite from. I don't know your exact area but if your site has a forum itself and a knowledgeable person giving advice you'll siphon a lot of traffic just by posting on other health forums.

And don't forget to look into solo ads but just for your niche! Research it. That can very quickly build you a 2000 person database.

I know because I started out that way and was quickly making good money BUT you got to help the people

    Good luck!

Thank you for all the comments so far, they are really helping.

Also, I was having a look around OfferVault just now and was looking at the pay-per-lead offers, but I'm not certain how they work.

For example, have a look at the below link - it's to a well known fitness DVD and the affiliate is offering good money for leads. However, when I go onto the site there is no option to just simply register your details - you can only go through to a payment page.

FOCUS T25 Workout: Get Better Results by Doing Shorter Workouts with T25 - Beachbody.com

So how can I get paid on a lead, when there is nowhere to just register your interest (from a customer point of view)?

I wish you'd never posted that - I love the insanity workout and now I'm considering T-25!!!

I was confused by that too - but Pay Per Lead can mean Pay Per Converted Lead and I'm assuming that's what they mean by Pay Per Lead.

Can you hold off until I have my website sorted?

So basically they are paying per sale, they've just marketed it different.

  • 1) Expect to have some failure.. There is no success without some type of failure

    2) Don't focus to much on building a blog, and professional website

Start getting leads and sales from the very beginning..

    1) Setup a optin page with a lead magnet

    You can use services like
InstaPages for free (No need to invest a lot of money at the beginning

    2) Integrate autoresponder, and setup a followup sequence with affiliate offers from Clickbank, JVZoo, Clicksure, etc

    3) Use this..

Traffic > Your optin page > Affiliate offer straight away on Thank you page > Autoresponder series

    Hope this helps

      Hi mate,

Thanks for the info. Your step 3 is exactly the same as what we have planned so it's good to see other people recommending it.

Will check InstaPage also as I hadn't heard of it.

Still a little confused as to how all these PPL offers actually turn out to be PPS instead.......

Regardless of what your niche would be, the advice would be the same.

Make sure you have some sort of way to collect emails for your list.

You can do that from a website, and of course free and paid traffic sources.

In terms of creating a product or being an affiliate, I would recommend doing both.

That's just scratching the surface, but should give you some insight.

The idea is to become an affiliate first, to generate revenue from the get go and to also create the database.

Our second stage is to then move onto building our own product.
