Offline Marketing:Spend a day with your spouse and get new customers!

Hello,
I have another little success story,
my wife dragged me out of the house the other
day to spend some time with her and to do some shopping.
I made sure to bring some business cards with me.
The first stop was the beauty parlor.
The second stop was the specialty food store.
The third stop was the shoe repair shop.
The fourth stop was one of her favorite restaurants.
In each case I had my wife introduce me to the owner of the stores,
since she has been going to all of these places for years.
The bottom line to all of this is that I made four new customers in places
where I would have never gone to.
I thanked my wife many times over and will go shopping
with her anytime that she wants me to.
Next week I am going shopping with my teenagers.

    Just goes to verify that you have to get out there. Having your wife along to make the introuctions always helps. Only pitfall is now she has an excuse to shop.....Could get dangerous....lol

    If I can ask....What kind of services did each take?

    Hi, Lou,

    You have just high-lighted what I have been teaching for years.

    There are no end of 'clever' ways to prospect but only one really efficient and sensible way - on foot in a local area, be it for domestic or business prospecting. Sometimes 'clever' is not clever at all, it just feels like it because it is so much more time consuming and, by planning how 'clever' you are going to be you lay the foundations for failure (at worst) or serial procrastination (at best).

    Isn't it funny how this snowballs when you aren't really pushing?

    I've had very similar results from casual encounters during a normal day of errands. The most recent was when getting my taxes done and that led to several clients.

    Funny thing is, I wasn't looking for business. LOL

      Yes I'll bet you came across as more relaxed than you normally would LOL!

      Many people are so uptight talking to business owners that they screw up the whole process.

      It really is just about making friends, asking questions and listening in a relaxed, low key way.

      Often when you stop trying so hard things just flow.

      I suppose the trick is to not make this the CENTER of your outing. Some wives would have a fit if they took you out to shop with them and you left them to "do more business"... Tact is required here, or even better...a very understanding spouse
