Is "the psychology of online marketing" a good place to start blog?

Hi there,

I have a domain name on my hosting account, mindscholars.com, and I'm thinking of making it a blog on the psychology of online marketing.

Is this a good idea? Do you think that people would like it?

Are you an expert in the psychology of online marketing? If not, then people probably won't like it.

Of course it's a good idea!
The right mindset for online marketing IS the key to success.
You can work a lot, being busy with internet marketing, but.....
If you don't have the right mindset and your busy all over Internet
with no system, you won't make any money.
Making people aware of the way they think is very valuable
to make them successful in their business!

If this forum is any indicator, it's not a smart move. Most MMO marketers are interested in one thing. Making money. Making fast money. They aren't fans of esoteric ideas like the psychology of making money or the mindset of making money. They want Ninja tactics and dirty little "done for you" secrets.

Not only that, to start such a blog you need to actually have some background in psychology and know what you're talking about. The main thing a MMO marketer needs is to understand his/her market/audience and in this case the vast majority isn't interested in stuff that doesn't produce push button results.

You just posted a question a couple days ago asking what else you could use that domain for.

I'm getting the sense that you're having a hard time picking a direction and going with it.

If your name is Aunt Jemima or you happen to own Leggo then you can make money with waffles. Otherwise waffling is a way to go broke fast.

Pick a market, find some products to market, create some content that will sell those products, create a landing page to get people interested in receiving your content ... and DRIVE TRAFFIC TO YOUR LANDING PAGES.

What I just put above is about as complicated as your business should get.

But you have to pick a market first.

Is psychology interesting to you? If so then go with it.

Travlinguy said that your market isn't a good one. Look up Derek Halpern. He's making a FORTUNE in the same space you're thinking of going into. (now I don't like his method for entering a market ... I'm just saying there's money to be made in the space you're thinking of)

And stop trying to make waffles

Haha, this gave me a good laugh (the waffle part)

Yes it definitely interests me and I'm going to try it out, the worst that could happen is that it doesn't turn out the way I imagined right?

I had a difficult time choosing what to do with the domain but now I've made a strict plan that's very simple and this time I won't try to complicate matters by adding new ideas all the time.

I'll go with psychology of online marketing which is about:

      Having the right mindset.
      Understanding the audience.
How to become successful and staying that way (which will be advice given by the experts, directly or in-directly)

      Thanks anyway everyone!

"There's money to be made in the space you're thinking of." Sure there is. And it's hard for someone just starting to get at it. This is a market that could take a while to break into.

And what I actually said was it's tough selling personal development products (the branch of psychology the OP is talking about) to inexperienced people trying to make it selling info products online. There's no doubt they need it but they certainly don't want it. Personal development is my thing. I've been in it for a long time. It's hard to get started because there are so many high profile people out there. I would never waste my time trying to promote personal development or psychology stuff here.

I also think that starting a blog just because you have the domain is probably the wrong reason. I've been here since 2008 and have only seen one out of many self improvement offers that have been successful. The rest die almost immediately. The successful one was a hypnosis course that was sold like a hyped up money making offer. It had lots of promises that couldn't be kept. And that's the only reason it sold. I suspect the seller had to issue a ton of refunds. You can find a lot of self improvement stuff in the War Room. That's where it ends up after it bombs in the WSO forum.

As for the OP, I hope you do well. You are going to be very busy building for a while.

  • In business as in life, your true successes and ultimate failures are all determined by your passions.

This sounds like a great business idea and psychology has a large influence on everything we do.

Mindset is the most complex part of life, the better understood this subject then the more satisfying experiences we shall become accustomed to.

I am all for supporting anyone who is looking to delve into research on the mind and therefore shall keep a close eye on this.

Here's to massive success for you!

Is there a substantial amount of Google activity over "psychology of internet marketing"? If not there may not be a whole lot of market to monetize; but if so, then that could be considered a "green light"
