Does anyone have any regrets with affiliate marketing?

I don't know if this is considerd a regret but I wish I did a few things earlier (soon than later), like starting to build lists, etc

Yep. Guilty of tha one myself. Building a list was something I feared for a long time, as I had no clue how to lay out the path in reverse order. So definitely, the defiance and fear I had of communicating through email/follow-ups, biggest regret.

The other, racing out buying EMD's (*for those who may not know; Exact Match Domains) all geared up to promote the next hot release, only to see the product dwindle, sizzle, and fade...leaving me with a bunch of useless domains!

3rd - still suffer from this one... not having built my own product line sooner, and benefited from both ends of the spectrum (*I promote your good stuff, and you promote mine.)

4.) Not actually seeing 'how or why' the vendors/creators were so generous to pay 60% -75% commissions... while making 1,000's of sales from affiliates, more over a great way to learn, but perhaps a little regret there to, I guess.

While, I am no leaderboard player, the majority of my regrets were more over the time it took me to learn all the assembly, tech, and basic operating fundamentals in doing affiliate marketing. Spent a great deal of time researching, as opposed to implimenting.

I have many regrets. Some things I should not have done... Learned my lesson and continued. Affiliate marketing is always changing and something that works now might not work tomorrow.

Whats important is that you take every opportunity and strategy and exploit it to death while it is working

  • My biggest regret is that I promoted other people's products.

Lots of things I wish I could have changed, or started earlier in my "career." Building lists and I would have started more sites!

My biggest regret was messing around in niches where the payouts are low ($10-$50 per lead). Now I'm targeting keyword/niches where the CPA is $100+

It took me a long time to realize that it is
very difficult to be my own boss with
    affiliate marketing
. A lot of things are not under my
    control.

I still do affiliate marketing but get maximum satisfaction
when I create something my own.

    Biggest regrets?

Not building a list sooner. Not registering domains earlier. Not understanding and then targeting appropriate audiences for products I was choosing. Not creating my own products sooner.

I'm sure most of us have similar regrets. But if we learn from our mistakes we also learn that regrets are just part of the learning curve.

    Hey Chris,
I think a lot of people share this and that is not building a List sooner or not being more competent sooner at building that List

There are no regrets, just lessons learned.

Learn from your mistakes and fail your way to success.
