Facebook Ads VS Solo Ads...Which Should I Go For First!!!

Hi Guys

i reaaly need to know which i should use first as a paid option to my driving traffic to my new squeeze page...presently i have tried some free traffic source and im expectant that i will see some good results from there...BUT

I have never done any form of paid ads before but ive watched some videos as guide on how to use Facebook ads and also with solo ads too...

i know the method will definitely depends on individual approach to achieving good results with either of the two but from those who have really done these two ads before, which of them work best for you and why?

really love to hear some great tips here so i can get started immediately...

Paul

  • Paul,

In our tests for our individual / one-man affiliate marketing clients -- Paid hardsell promotional campaigns through credible networks (including Facebook), and online places that can best reach our target audiences, along with free softsell promotional campaigns through online places heavily trafficked by our target audiences (also includes Facebook) generate far better results in terms of RoI, than going with solo ad providers, especially those that actively advertise their solo ad placement offers, and most especially providers in the MMO / IM / Get Rich Quick niches; and

In our direct marketing tests for the inbound call generation campaigns of our corporate clients -- Authority list brokers that are official members of licensed Direct Marketing Associations (DMAs) in accredited national trade organizations of our target countries generate FAAAARRRRR better results in terms of RoI, than solo ad providers, especially those that actively advertise their solo ad offers (we don't have corporate clients in the MMO / IM / Get Rich Quick niches, so these are broader industries and not niches)...

    Hope this helps. Cheers!

    Hello Marx

    really appreciate your response....

so from your research you were able to conclude that facebook ads is FARRRR better than solo ads...hmmmmm

i actually thought the same too but was not just certain as ive never had the opportunity to create one before....

now if i decide to do facebook ad which ad campaign do you think works better between "cost per click" and cost per impression... ive read many tutorials and most still sound a little theoretical....

which ads methods work best for you?

Well AngelicPen, I would go for a Facebook fanpage.
I assume you have a Facebook Fanpage?
The more likes the more people will be reached in Facebook.
And when you use Audience Insights in your Ads manager, man..
Your targeted traffic goes viral..! Woohoo

      for instance:
When you write a blog post on your site,
then you place the blog post in your fanpage.
You boost your new blog with Audience Insights,
and you sure have very targeted traffic!! Why?
Because you have so many options in Audience Insights.
Like profile keywords, Job wise, yearly income, interests,
      country + Region etc etc...

Audience Insight...looking forward to using it...

i was actually thinking of the best strategy to use in my facebook campaign...

most reports i have read said traffic from facebook are not very targeted....i really dont know why this is so

        quick question here

isnt there a way to combine the power of alexa/quantcast [statistic/analytic sites] to also create a very targeted facebook ads...

i know with alexa/quantcast you can really see real time data about your keyword, webpages gender, age, etc and this can make your ad more targeted

is audience insight the same with power editor...i have heard of power editor more often than audience insight...any reason why this is?

    Think of it like this.

Why would someone with a list that is any good at all do a solo ad?

    Answer: They wouldn't

While some solo ads can sort of do okay with rare exception what you get is people that are on nine million lists from the constant barrage of ads they've received so your message gets lost in the noise.

If a list owner has properly taken care of their list then anymore they are very well aware that they make MUCH more doing affiliate stuff than selling a solo ad. Anyone still doing solo ads is still doing them because their list is beat up.

Facebook however gives you the opportunity to get at new people.

    Definitely go that way.

i have always wonder why sell solo ads if the list is responsive....

i know i was told to guard my list jealously and always give them quality info and tips...but then i hear people talking about building list with solo ads, i have never really comprehend why i need to share my list with anybody.

im begining to grab everything about solo ads now...im believing those who sell solo ads only sell list that are not responsive and has never really bought anything....

most of the list they sell are probably the list of subscribers who opt in for a free stuff...

im all the way for facebook but i still do not want to jump in without having important info....like....

should i go for cost per click or cost per impression
is there a software to help me make this campaign work and if there is what sort of software do i need to add to my tool

      Regards
      Paul

Also i will like those who have used solo ads successfully to tell us how they did it....the list they bought was it any good...??

  • Solo ads is a HORRIBLE INVESTMENT. As mentioned earlier most solo ad lists that are sold are people who are being BOMBARDED with squeeze page and aff offer after another. Think about it...some of these solo ads sellers send out two to three blasts to their list everyday. Most of the content is BS it is just an advertisement to get a CTA (click) to the solo ad buyer so they can justify the service they just sold. But the people on the list you are trying to reach, they are not getting any value.

They also outsource sending out the e-mails to their solo ad list so the quality gets even worst.

You are much better off building your own list through targeted campaigns on Facebook. Build a real relationship with your list. Treat them like real people (because they are) and offer them value.

Don't spam them with messages like "My friend just sent me this amazing software that can double your online income with just 20 minutes of work---->Click here!"

Try getting on the lists of solo ad sellers and see for yourself the messages they send to their lost. No value. The message are getting shorter and shorter and are clearly made just to get clicks. There is no valuable content just trying to get their recycled list (these people are on dozens of lists) to click on your squeeze page. Is this really the type of traffic you want to invest in?

I have a bit more experience in Solo Ads then FB Ads...
If you are going to do solo ads make sure you ask lots of questions!
And be straight up with the vendor:
How large is your list and fresh is your list? (ask them for a screen shot of today's optins)
Will you endorse the solo ad?
Have you had someone offer the same? What was it like?
    Do you offer discounts?
Will you do the swipe for me?
    Etc...
Make sure you do your due diligence in reading testimonials.

FB ads are apparently better if you can manage to get your ad approved!

But with Solo Ads, don't be too concerned with not making a sale out of the ads.
It's all in the follow up and you are building your list.
