6 Figure Income Reality?

Most of the guys selling some offer online claim they are 6-figure earners. Some also show some screenshots etc to prove that. Do you believe a majority of them are genuine?
And I think some guys spend too much money on paid traffic to stay in the leaderboard- to showcase, but maybe they are spending too much and their real profit is too small. Do you think many gurus pay through their nose to drive traffic so that they can showcase that they are making huge income, but maybe in actuality their net profit is only 10% of the figure shown? And do you think this kind of strategy is good to establish yourself as a guru, at least initially. Please share your opinions.

I spend zero time thinking about what other people earn or spend. Have never wanted to be a "guru" nor would I ever put that in a forum name.

What boggles me is you have been a member here since 2010 and THIS is what you focus on for your first post?

Were you 10 when you joined? j/k

You can waste time and money trying to be a "guru" but if you don't have the experience/knowledge/trust built up, you are blowing smoke. Work on building your own income rather than on building an image.

If I had to guess, I'd say 95% of the people here earn $1,000 or less per month from their own ventures, including some of the "gurus" you eluded to. I also think that there are several dozen 6-figure annual earners here and maybe a couple of 7-figure annual earners...but those aren't the ones necessarily saying, "Look at me and how wonderful I am."

Yep a lot of the so called goorooos like that old adage, "Fake it to you make it. "

Which in many respects is a very questionable notion.

Yep, especially the ones who start threads telling us what huge amounts they earn.
They probably don't even make that much.
Very much a case of "fake it cos I ain't going to make it"

Maybe so, but this is a forum after all. If you don't believe someone, then call them out on it and see what happens. Sort of like when I posted my Jan income statement from Paypal to prove a point.

I think you are too preoccupied with Gurus.

Yes Many of the Gurus are making what they show.

Yes Many of them are spending lots on marketing.

But if they have enough common sense and business experience, they will be making 'enough' profit.

However, you really should be only concerned about one person...YOU.

Stop focusing on Gurus and all those distractions. Focus on what you are going to do for yourself (or not).

    OP,

I think any form of deception is bad business. And I'm sure you and everyone else agrees. The simple fact of the matter is this: people need assurance that a product is worthy of their hard-earn money. If they want to lose weight, then they want assurances that they'll lose weight. Same thing for moneymaking products. Same for everything. People won't even buy a cheap pair of earrings without looking around the web (Amazon, for instance) for reviews: negative and positive. They need help to make a decision. And it's a great situation. One of the many advantages of the internet. It turns us into more intelligent buyers. But about your main question . . . how to establish yourself as a guru. Big figures on paper (or screen captures) are nothing compared to what people say. Truly. I really don't like the term guru (no offense), but if becoming one is your dream, then you need to become the authority on a subject. Once you are that authority, or at least one of many, share what you know with others: either in a paid or a free situation. Word of mouth is a wonderful thing. Word will spread. You'll soon see - if it happens for you - your own name mentioned in guru threads. People are quick to mention the fake, but they're also pretty quick (not always quite as quick, it must be said) to mention the real deal.

I don't wish to offend or be unpleasant in the least.
If you haven't seen positive posts from me - it's because you focus in the MMO area and also because the thread quality here has deteriorated. I have no patience for people who post nonsense or worry about what other people earn.

You post in every "make money" thread - you offer positive encouragement even when people clearly have no clue and no intention to do anything except get attention here. That's fine - it's your choice...

But - then, you sell coaching here.

I've earned a living online for years - help those who have done something on their own - don't sell to people here at all now - and don't much care what you think.

Best to leave it at that.

        Oops - you replied.

I decided to delete my post to you and instead send a private message, but it looks like that won't be necessary. I actually felt bad about posting it in public and, in retrospect, thought a private message would be more appropriate.

Just let me address your comments...

If you haven't seen positive posts from me - it's because you focus in the MMO area and also because the thread quality here has deteriorated. I have no patience for people who post nonsense or worry about what other people earn.

Understood. My advice to you is to simply ignore the threads or the posts you dislike. They won't go away. This is, in essence, an educational forum. People will always be asking the type of questions a veteran like yourself either thinks is stupid or plain lazy. And, a lot of the time, it truly isn't the fault of the person posting. If I were, for instance, to develop an interest in buying and selling antiques, I expect I'd go on a relevant forum and irk the veterans just as much. Probably more. Showing negativity is really not productive. It's given me, for instance, a poor impression of you. And intuition tells me you deserve a good impression. But only intuition. Not your posts.

You post in every "make money" thread - you offer positive encouragement even when people clearly have no clue and no intention to do anything except get attention here. That's fine - it's your choice...

But - then, you sell coaching here.

I don't post in "every" MMO thread. I post in those that I find interesting or where I feel I can help. I try, at all times, to marry being realistic and positive. I don't believe in the army school of education. I believe in giving realistic hope and help. I don't rely on the traffic I receive here and, as people will tell you, I coach a limited number of people and will be doing so for a limited time. The reason I coach is actually because I've found that I enjoy it. Unfortunately, given my limited time, it won't be something I can do for very long. Get to know me a little. You'll find out that coaching is not a great way - financially speaking - to dedicate my time. But, like I say, it is a pleasure. As is posting here on WF.

I've earned a living online for years - help those who have done something on their own - don't sell to people here at all now - and don't much care what you think.

That's fine. I was only trying to help. Your continued negativity on WF, on seemingly every MMO post, is, I think, giving people the wrong impression of you. Take your responses to me for instance; especially, "... don't much care what you think." I believe you're attitude is doing yourself a disservice. I believe you're worthy of far more respect than I would imagine you're receiving due to your posts. I can imagine, of course, that to the people who know you, who will no doubt leap in to your defense here (though there is no attack), you are a wonderful person. But, to anyone unfamiliar, quite the opposite appears true.

In any case - those are my thoughts. I had intended to say them in private. Upshot: I feel you're a lady who should command a great deal of respect here. Your recent posts, seemingly all negative, are preventing that from happening.

        Tom

It depends on the skills, capabilities, and the way you represent to yourself to the world. many factors get involved for the proposed approach to market someone. So, if at all someone is claiming that they are 6 figure earner, they are marketing themselves in such ways. No doubt what could be the reality, they have represented themselves in the market accordingly so as the public starts believing.

I would say they are giving you revenue numbers but from a real 6 figure earner I profit about 50% of my revenue with is still 6 figures.

I would say though dont worry about others and just focus on what you are doing and that will help grow your business.

The real, make enough money to live, marketers don't have time to spend talking about how wonderful they are at making money.

They be busy earning a living.

Another way to look at it, and take this as an example. ... offline business owners... how many do you see promoting their make money in brick and mortar how-to scheme?

    Exactly. Zero.

TThey're too busy running their business.

Now extrapolate that to the online business world. Get my point?

Most, and I can raise my hand, are blow holes.

You shouldn't worry about what other people are doing. Just worry about what you're doing. If it takes you 2 years to reach 1 sale per day, then it will just take you 2 years to reach 1 sale per day.

The beauty of 1 sale per day is that *now*... you can start to rapidly build up your backend marketing list. The more sales you get per day, the more backend customers you get (who should continue to buy from you).... and the more money you can put back into advertising totally put your website sales on supercharge.

Don't worry about anybody else. Stay focused on your site.

It's obvious that not all of the 6-figure income claims are true, and I think that's one of the reasons why the WF moderators recently adopted this big change to the WSO section.

I do believe though that some of them are. They might not be revealing their exact 6-figure model, but they are indeed earning 6-figure a year. But many are just providing fake screenshots, or while making $10,000/month they spend $9,000/month in advertising.

That is a valid point. One of my projects has made $138.001.60 since August 1st 2012 to 27th February 2015 which looks great at first. But then I paid $10,473.26 on paypal fees not to mention product creation fees, outsourcing, advertisements and tax etc.

The glorious screenshots people show, don't reveal the full picture and are not as impressive as they first seem.

6 figures is at a minimum 100,000 and an range to 999,999. If the person is in the middle to late tier that's good, but $100,000 isn't that much money once you factor taxes, advertising, transaction fees, outsourcing, living expenses, etc. In matter of fact, $100,000 isn't much at all if you live in an expensive city like LA or NYC where the living expenses are way above the nation's average. My advice is to build a legitimate business, not some cookie cutter site that tons of webmasters can easily duplicate. Build internet brands, build a portfolio of unique sites that solve a problem, and build stability for yourself by building multiple of them in various niches.

When you find those 2 or 3 business models that deliver, 6 figures becomes achievable. Some people can do it with one business model but I personally don't put all my eggs in one basket. With 3 different business models, you have a diversified portfolio.

You should not care what others are making. You should be worried about YOU and your business and that's it.

Here's something that most people don't know about these guys and ladies earning 6 figures per year and even per month:

If someone earns $100,000 based on their efforts only and not efforts of their affiliates, you can be sure that they spend anywhere between $10,000-$30,000 on ads. Most of them don't even promote products that earns them $10-$50 per sale either. They promote products that banks them between $200-$3000 per customer.

Good post. I would say work on your 1st $1000 then scale it up after that. If you are working with a marketing budget you should be getting a decent ROI back from what you put in. If you're not making anything yet, use social media and make at least 1 YouTube video a day until you do

I don't believe any of them are genuine. I am not saying those figures aren't achievable. In fact they are extremely achievable. But the ones making those figures aren't selling their secrets for half the price as a WSO. Besides, the only secret is hard work.

Don't buy into anything that sells a dream, as it doesn't work that way. Buy into things that sell valuable information that may or may not help make you money depending on what you wish to do with that information.
