EZine - It's tough...

When i started writing for ezine years ago i didn't give it too much thought, so some of my earlier articles were not perfect or had some formality errors.

The result is that i am STILL trying to upgrade from Basic PLUS to platinum.

But having 25 PERFECT articles in a row to get the Platinum proves as really difficult!

I already once requested to be upgraded to Platinum, but probably because of my history with not ALL articles perfect she re-instated my Basic Plus and said i need to submit another 25 which adhere to their guidelines - and maybe THEN i can apply for Platinum.

The problem..as said..i think its very tough to write 25 which are all perfect...and if i understand this right if only ONE article has something wrong with it you can do that whole spiel again.

DONT: Write an article about XYZ DIET ....and link to eg..fatloss4idiots. DENIED! Why? Because i wrote about a specific diet but linked to a more "general" weight loss program. WTH???

DONT: Write an article and use words like "XYZ is not for everyone"

Eg. in that article i wrote about a crash diet/fasting called the "maple leaf syrup diet". I said "this diet might not be for everyone", not thinking anything special about it. I also did NOT negatively promote a brand since that diet is a generic term , not related to a brand.

The funny thing is that i got that msg:

The problem that we are having is that we are not able to accept any articles that advocate against any individual or group or that contain an insulting, obscene, or degrading tone.
Please edit your article to remove any content in violation of this, and resubmit for review.
Needless to say that the articles was ANYTHING but insulting, degrading or even obscene <-- Sometimes you really wonder....

I would suggest you take some time and write 25 BS articles that strickly adhere to their guidelines. Then ask for the platinum status. Once in that status, then return to your traditional article writing.

Just my thoughts - I receive platinum status no problem but all on my articles comply with their guidelines.

I just can't be bothered with them anymore, they're a complete waste of time as far as I am concerned.
Couldn't agree more! I wrote an article on Open Source software and had it rejected because I had put a link in the body of the article to opensource.org. The editor told me I was not allowed to link to sites that I owned!!??

It took about four emails before I got an editor with a brain who apologised and published the article. Too much effort but I wasn't going to let that one go.

Wordpro's right there are many more places which are more time/effort effective.

Yes, it is very tough and very difficult to pass their standards.

Is there a huge advantage to having platinum status?

EDIT: apart from infinite article submissions...duh..I'm tired.

Hi.. I experienced the same from ezines.. I think my basic plus account was reinstated three times.. I already have about 80 articles in my account but my account has not yet upgraded to Platinum.. At present, I submit not as often as before.. But what I think that you should do is to look for a proofreader before you submit..

To Damien, if you have attained the platinum status, you will be able to submit unlimited number of articles plus you article gets approved in within 24 hours.. For starters, they begin at 10 articles, then they have to request for upgrade.. After which, they would attain the basic plus status where they can submit up to 25 articles.. The status after that is Platinum..

I've had platinum status for quite some time and it's very rare to get approved in 24 hours. It's been a few weeks since I've submitted anything there but in the past it's usually about 2 or 3 days for my articles to get published.

I have had "Platinum Status" for quite some time now. I think you should concentrate on writing 25 articles that avoid the following:

        1. Make sure the link in the resource page does not lead to a site that has already been rejected by EZA. They see sites with little content on them as problematic.

        2. Do not include more than 3 words for anchor text linking.

        3. Provide value in the article and make sure you fulfill what the title suggests.

        4. Make sure your content is unique.

        5. Do not write on subjects which are off limits, IE: City specific insurance .... (San Diego Insurance).

I know there are a bunch more but these were some of the things that had been reasons for being rejected when I first started out. Now, most of my articles go through without a hitch.

I think EZA has been getting really tough.
But quality and adhering to their guidelines is the key.

Spend extra time. give them great articles.
The rewards are worth the effort.

Recently my wife finished her first ten articles.
and they gave her Platinum status.

Did not even have to do Basic Plus
Went right from Basic to Plantinum.
          The key

Quality articles adhering to their guidelines.

And all ten articles are on the First Page Of Google. Many in the #1 &2 Position.

          Don

The key to getting platinum status is to submit general articles that promote nothing and that don't appear as just search engine fodder. If you do this and link to a blog or some other type of general web page you will get platinum status in no time.

That sounds like an excellent tip and if I were trying to go from basic to platinum I would certainly give that a try.

That does happen for some people. For me, I went from basic to basic plus and then to platinum. It's sounds like some people in this thread are caught in an endless loop of basic plus though.

For those people, just try to write good quality content (or outsource it). I don't have any idea what their actual guidlines are for bumping people to the next level but if your articles are informative and well written I'm sure it will happen for you guys.

Me too. If I go a week or two without submitting anything, they send me a little gift in the mail -- a coffee mug or pen or something. Quality counts on Ezine.

No you don't have to have 25 perfect articles in a row. I just got upgraded to platinum and a couple of my basic plus articles had been kicked back for some minor changes. In one I had to many links in bio box...that type of thing.

Write a set of informative, generic, non promotional articles about tomato plants, wool gloves or other non-controversial topic. Get them all approved and you should have your platinum account after that.

Wow, you guys are all ahead of me. I've been stuck at Basic for what seems like forever . . . and they never reject any of my articles. Today I gave up hope of ever going further with them, and have decided to look towards other avenues of getting traffic to my sites by focusing on submitting original content to other directories. I'm tired of feeling dependant on Ezinearticles . . . and being stuck in a waiting loop.

My understanding is $582 a year gets you FTL and some other nice features, isn't that the path of least resistance to get stuff reviewed and posted fast?

My personal opinion on that is that althought the premium (paid) membership may be better, it's not so much better to justify spending almost $600 per year on it. The free membership is good enough for me.

true that, it is very overpriced. $100 or less per year would be reasonable for a membership like that. They are pretty fast approving platinum articles most of the time which is good enough.

Their approval process is such a pain in the neck. You spend so many hours going back and forth with them and that time would be MUCH better spent doing more valued-added activities, such as finding and analyzing new niches. Personally, I submit to HubPages. They also have their own set of rules and standards (which is fine and necessary to avoid spammers) but overall I've had MUCh better luck there than on ezines. I think ezines limits their business growth by having such rigid standards.

I agree. Look, i understand that there needs to be a high standard - but some things are just...too much.

It also irks me that i see other people's articles published....with REALLY bad grammatical errors aka "...you're computer is fast" <---- how the hell can something like that go through?

There is just a mathematical VERY HIGH chance that any of 25 articles might have some "flaw"....or some editor has a bad day...things like that.

I don't think I spent an hour writing the 1500 words I have on EZA, let alone going back and forth with them.

I get the vibe people having difficulties with EZA are trying to push through the 3 paragraph restatements of the obvious, thinly disguised sales letters and biased reviews. The point of the platinum thing is they want 10 pieces of meat to indicate you have more to offer than tripe.

I have just been upgraded to Platinum after 10 (ten) articles. So it looks like if you do not overdo it with links you can still easily get it.
