Just started a blog, having problems, need help, attract visitors?

So one problem is it bad you can't leave comments on my blog? This is because my wordpress data base got messed up so now no one can leave comments... Is this a big problem?

Also how do I begin to promote my blog?
My blog will track my progress as a writer and also just a general posts about how I'm trying to slowly create the life of my dreams and better myself.

comments option can be sorted out, a niche is a question here regarding attracting visitors, but when we talk about promoting it then it depends on how much money you can spend on a promotion

Does it matter I don't have comments enabled?

Check it if not enabled then enable it, my blogs always comes with enabled only. I may think database had some problems. Check the comments table to repair it.
Can you post a screenshot how it looks.

Daniel, there appears to be a problem with the manner which you've structured your pages. If I put in danielwallock.com it shows your site...but adding the /blog extension is likely an issue with your settings.

Assuming your using WP as your platform, you need to establish a static landing page under dashboard - settings menu.

I think you'll get better technical help on solving this issue under the "web design" thread.

Maybe its because I'm on my phone at the moment, but it appears you need to resize your header, as in my viewing half of it is missing.

As you only have two pages, I suggest you delete it and re-install WP.

Also, that free theme fairly screams - "unprofessional!"

Take the time and invest a little money.

You cannot start a blog activity with a broken database or non working blog. You should focus on fix all those problems before.
Then you should promote your content in your Signature on various forum, helping people on your niche.
Do also facebook activities, participating to Facebook groups niche related and working on Facebook and Twitter.

Start by fixing your issues. Copy all of your content into a word doc or something similar.

    Re-install wordpress.

Find a high quality theme. That theme does make you look unprofessional. I suggest the genesis framework from studiopress.

As far as getting traffic, you are going to need a lot more content than this! Until you have 10-20 posts focus on creating awesome content. During this time read up in the forum on traffic strategies and pick one to implement. Give it time!

You may need to enable the comments section. I know with my website I have access to whether people can comment or not. It depends on who you're with but it will either be in the settings section and not very far from your blog section. The more you post the more you will attract. Another thing is that sometimes it's not the best idea to let people comment, although if you can approve of it before it it published. What you can do is post it to a facebook page if you have one with a catchy title and lead them with your link to your webpage....like everything though it is all about consistency and you need to generate a buzz on a constant basis. Start off with a small blog once a week and then promote it on your facebook page once or twice a week spread out. It's alot of fun and you will feel proud of your publishing efforts. Everything will grow from there. Also advertising your ideas on gumtree or craigslist or something of similiar nature....good luck

Ive just lost the comments form on my site. Sometimes when that happens it could be due to a plugin you have installed. Just deactivate all plugins and see if the comment form re appears. If it doesn't then you may need to re install the theme you are using.

As for getting traffic, there's loads of people offering real visitors on sites like fiverr.

Bear in mind this probably won't get you any sign ups or subscribers but it will definitely improve your Alexa stats.

Best thing is to keep putting unique content on your site and you will start to see organic visitors coming and this is good traffic.

you can attract visitors through social media, a good idea is to join the reddit community and join a sub reddit around your niche, chuck a link from your website there if it adds value to the /r community.

The comment error can be sorted. You can have a word with your hosting technical team or add the facebook comment plugin.

Theres no easy way of just suddenly gaining visitors. Its going to be a long process of gain followers through social media, forums etc. However you need to give them a reason to visit your site such as offering free content.

Yes, having comments enabled is important in my opinion simply because as you continue to grow you want to have interaction with the people who comment on your articles etc. Also, comments will keep people coming back to see what other people said.

Also, in regards to promotion, what many people do when it comes to a blog is find other relevant blogs within your niche and ask to be a guest contributor to their websites. The good thing about this is that if they have a BIG FOLLOWING you can put your content in front of a lot of eyeballs and get a link back to your blog (where they can visit you).

What I noticed is that the challenge with this is some people wont answer your request to write for them or could be very picky about what they accept (which is actually good because you need to produce high quality content). Basically, you need to do a big amount of outreach in order to get responses but the time you put into it could be worth it if you target the right audience.

From here, you can also build relationships with the other people in your niche and who knows, possibly pursue join ventures.

Congratulations on you new blog. There are many ways to promote a blog on the net. It all depends what you like.

If you have a budget you can pay for advertising. This is the fastest way to get results but it requires some money upfront.

I would recommend getting involved in a community that you niche is in. some examples would be: if you have a cooking blog you might want to check out pinterest. Make money on line might be right here "the warrior forum". For weight loss you could check out 3 fat chicks on a diet.

Do you see what I'm getting at? Find the community where you niche hangs out and dive in. Become active. Ask questions and be helpful. Develop a good reputation and you will have all the visitors you want. And not only that they will be highly targeted visitors.

      I hope this helps.

With blogging you have to be consistent and post fresh, unique content every single week...

Also, creating and linking a YouTube video for each and every blog post is great for SEO purposes...

Just keep blogging and have fun with it, I wish I started my blog years ago...Would have saved me a lot of time and money!

How do you know that people want to follow you and you're journey in *life*? What background information do they know about you to want to follow you daily online?

Do these people know you from somewhere? If you want traffic to your blog, and promote it in a way that people will want to follow you daily... then you have to give them a great reason to.

You really need to have accomplished something or be some kind of "guru"/"expert"/etc that only a few people know about... which would cause them to spread the word to their friends and colleagues.

The problem with not being able to comment is your website is not user friendly. Comments are important, they give your blog the sense of community, and they really help your blog a lot, even SEO wise!
As for attracting visitors, start by writing a lot! Write original content, make it interesting, share it on social media (via facebook or twitter or google plus, ecc.).
