Warriors who don't update/support their products

I've bought many WSOs and been pleased. However, it really annoys me when a few of these guys won't update their plugins or software; and in effect, makes the item now useless.

I would understand, perhaps, if the product was several years old, but I'm particularly annoyed when it's only been a year or even less, and I can't get a response from them, and their product is basically worthless at this point.

Really gets under my skin. Perhaps I should start naming names?

    Well, naming names violates Rule #1 of the TOS of WF, which you should already know since you've been here since 2010.

    ... and why would you post this in off topic? It clearly belongs in the Main Discussion area.

      So it's okay for people to sell bad products here, but it's not okay for someone to complain about it? Besides, I seem to see dozens of positive reviews in the offers section, so I couldn't imagine how it could be against the sites terms to leave a negative one. Unless....well, I'd better not say it.

      Terms of Service or not, I think an attorney would have a quite different view in a court of law. Especially if WF is profiting from said contractors who are being accused of deceiving buyers.

      Just my 2 cents though.

        So hire a lawyer or take it up with management. I don't care which... and I didn't say it was against the TOS to leave a negative review in the listing for the product. I said it was against the TOS to name names in the discussion forums. But the rules are there for anyone to read themselves. Give it a try.

          Maybe you should read some rules too though...unless you believe that Warrior Forum's rules trump those set forth by the United States government. Because instead of trying to help the OP, you twisted it around into shaming him...which is also against the rules here. Oops.

          I was simply correcting that by pointing out he can leave a negative review.

            I don't give a crap about this issue either way. Simply stating that he cannot name them in the discussion forums. So blah blah blah .... and blah blah blah.

        If it worked when you bought it and then worked for a year or more then I would say you got your moneys worth and so would a judge...

        It was sold in good working order and in good faith, with no reasonable means of knowing something would change beyond the programmers control to make it inoperative. (I suspect the changes in php is what stopped it working after that amount of time)

          Hey, i didn't buy anything...I was just responding to the OP and the comments that followed. It would completely depend on the language within the course itself and the promises made to determine whether or not the offer was fraudulent. We can debate all we want but until we know that...we're all just guessing.

    I agree with Robert, the new version of PHP is about to be released. So I imagine when that happens all kinds of software is going to stop functioning. I had to just about rewrite all my software to use a different database library.

    It cost me thousands of dollars and a lot of testing to get everything stable. If the product was a low cost product, where is the incentive for a developer to rewrite the software to just give it away. I can see you having a complaint if you were paying a monthly support fee and then did not get the support you paid for.

    Remember, If you buy cheap software you will certainly get exactly what you paid for.

    I have bought a number of WSO's in the past and will probably buy in the future.

    I have been burned by a number of items of software and Wordpress theme's that worked great out of the box, but as new technologies changed and updated they were no longer functional.

    My advice is one that I will be following diligently:

    Caveat emptor which means simply:

    "Let the buyer beware".

    I will remember: I hit the pay now button, no one forced me to.

    I decided to believe the sales letter (and in some cases the hype).

    I know who burned me in WSO's and I will choose not to do business with them again.

    At the end of the day, it was my choice to buy or not to buy....

    As it is your choice as well.

      I am not talking about WSOs per se, but information products in general.

      I have a personal interest because I sell an eBook, and I know that people rely on the information in it. It can means the difference between success or failure, good profits or heavy losses.

      A lot of people who buy information products are rank amateurs who need all the help they can get. It's true that caveat emptor applies but so do ethics and common decency.

      I offer a product with certain promises. I know that the world of importing is constantly changing, so I could not in all good conscience just say thanks for your money, here's your book that is up to date today but down the track will probably not be up to date.

      Consequently I revise my book twice a year and provide free copies of the new editions to all who have previously bought, however long ago.

      Are WSO's just part of our throw-away society?
