Best investment in Internet Marketing?

Hey guys, so let's assume you have money to invest, and you are a quick learner. Which type of venture would be the best in terms of profit and scalability?

I was thinking along the lines of-
1. Hiring a genuine professional to create a quality product and sell/market that
or
2. Using an already created product and driving sales to that (ppc and affiliate marketing)

The way I see it is that an already created product has proven quality and history of sales and people to market to. Whereas if you're creating your own product, you run the risk of creating a product that just might not sell as well. With the benefit of a larger profit
Which one would you choose and why? Or would you prefer a 3rd option?

Using an already created product and driving sales to that (ppc and affiliate marketing)
This is the best for beginners.

I completely disagree. While marketing someone else's product is definitely easier, you're also giving up a large part of your potential profits by being an affiliate. Since you'll also have competition from others selling that exact same thing, I would not recommend going the affiliate route if you really want to learn.

If you create your own product, however, then you're a lot more invested in the process. You'll be sharing your own knowledge as well and you'll be keeping 100% of the profits, plus it allows you to fine-tune your niche and what really interests you. It also allows you to scale much easier because you're not offering an add-on that's just loosely related...you can plan all of this out from the start and have an entire sales funnel in place.

Ultimately it's up to you, but I can't see investing heavily in selling someone else's brand. The nice thing is that if you build your own brand from the start and feature your own products, you can always come in later and market affiliate stuff through your own channels. So I see it more as a best of both worlds scenario when you start with your own thing.

    I hope that helps.

I would say personally that when your first starting out it is best to promote someone elses product, i say this because coming into the online marketing space and creating your own product without really knowing much is the wrong thing to do in my eyes.

Learn the game then teach it.

  • 1 won't be profitable for a long time, product creation can take long

If you want R.O.I and profits,

    Go for option 2

The best investment I've ever made: information.

Information leads to creation. And once something is created, value has been added, and a premium price for that value must be paid. There will come a time when you have so much money that paying for such items makes perfect business sense; there is, afterall, only so many hours in a day, and even a company as large and as wealthy as Google will consume existing creations instead of making them from scratch.

But at this point, for you right now, I would do this:

    1. Decide exactly what you want to do.
    2. Try to find the plan of action for free.
    3. Failing 3, pay for it.
    4. Build it up yourself.

Start in in affiliate marketing, find quality products to promote and from there build a list of prospects in that particular niche provide value to your email list and from there you have your own list you can market to and make repeat sales. Paid ads is your best bet if you are willing to invest, it's also easy to lose money quick. My biggest suggestion to you is to study proper affiliate marketing from somebody who is experienced and take consistent action. You're going to fail many times before you find success, but always remember to fail forward. Take time to invest in your education as well as your mindset and remember to never quit and you will succeed!

Ha, Ha. As you can see by this small sample of answers from pro marketers, there is no right or wrong answer ... only opinions. Each way has its advantages and disadvantages.

      The real question is ...
      • What market are you targeting?
      • How much experience do you have in that market?
      - And -
      • Are you capable of creating a product or service that fills an untapped niche in that market?
If not, affiiate marketing is the natural answer.

But if you can find a hole in the market, no one else is filling and you can create a product or service that can fill it- it's your duty to the market and yourself to at least give it a shot.

But I must admit, it takes a certain kind of person to create and market their own product or service. Most people are affiliate marketers by heart, it's safer. Kinda like a pseudo job without the security of a guraranteed paycheck. But all the work's been done for you more or less for a small piece of the action.

It all depends on your risk/reward tolerance.

in my mind it would depend upon whether or not you already have experience in online marketing. If you are a newbie, option 2 would allow you to earn while you learn before you spend the big bucks on option 1. Just my 2 cents worth.

The best investment in internet marketing is yourself. Once you've mastered the skills necessary to get results, you can make anything happen.

Here's the problem with product creation that most people make, they pretend to be gurus. Product creation is tough. It requires real results and significant value because people will buy into your product for a reason. It has to be there and that reason is because you have the results so they have a reason to listen to you and they see and feel the value.

If you ask me, I would be an affiliate and when you succeed in that, venturing off and creating your own product is way easier because of the rapport, reputation and relationship you'll have with your list.

The best thing to do now is to invest in yourself because you are your greatest asset. What you know and implementing what you know will take you very far in this industry. Do content creation like blogging and video marketing. Focus on building a list and providing value to that list. That's how people look up to you and respect you.

Bottom line is...keep growing and investing in your greatest asset...YOU! Learn new skills and master them. Next thing you know, you wouldn't even need a product because people will be paying you for your time.
