Landing a Gig with a Large Corporation

Have any of you had any experience with landing a contract with a corporation?
Is seems at least for some corporations, you can market to different departments, and if you reach the right person, they have the power to pay you for your work. I just landed a pretty sweet deal with a European telecom with a market cap in the billions. It's going well so far, and thinking how I might repeat this. Any ideas?

    The biggest thing is to find out who he knows in other companies. Probably he knows more than a few. If he's an executive of any kind of level than he's got a professional network. Your goal is to produce some serious results, ahead of schedule and below budget.

    Once that happens you have three goals.

    1) Let him "feature creep" to expand your existing contract
    2) See if you can leverage your success into contracts in other departments
    3) See if you can get him to make introductions to you into his network

    Based on the last two posts, I feel like I'm on the right course. We have a great relationship going with the client, and they are already starting to show other departments. Now I'm working on the "over deliver" part because I know there is a lot more business to be had by performing well now.
