I have heard a lot of people talking about how they make money writing e-books. I am interested in learning new ways to make money online, but honestly, being a girl who knows hardly anything about the internet,

I have a hard time learning how to build websites or how to even get started with a website. At one point I had a blog and tried offering my writing services but didn't know how to get exposure so just gave up.

I have been on and off writing for 4 years, and have tried to make it something where I can make at least $100-$200 a week with no luck.

I have seen a lot of people writing e-books, but am clueless as to where to even start. What do I write on and how is an e-book even set up? Can anyone give me tips on how to write an effective e-book or how else to make money online besides offering my content creation services?

Any help would be appreciated. I have found a lot of tips on here, but honestly am a little overwhelmed. Thanks in advance!

You would be using something like Microsoft Word or Open Office to create the file and then convert it into a PDF file.

It's hard to say where to begin because most people are selling eBooks on all kinds of topics, so since I don't know where your specialities lie, I have no clue what you could be doing.

Do you have topics you feel you're an expert in?

    Health and fitness? Cooking?

If you know how to make money online, you could sell those ideas as WSOs, but that seems to be out of the question for now.

(You could always go to iWriter for now or Texbroker and write for clients and awake a sustainable income for now as you begin to progress on making eBooks.)

Don't forget about the Amazon Kindle program.

If you could write fiction and even non- fiction books, the market is huge.

I have a ton of great books on Kindle that still sell to this very day that I made over a year ago.

  • Hey there,

Yes selling information is a fantastic way to make money (and how most people do make money online).

Here's some steps I suggest to get started:

    1. Choose a niche to write in. The biggest money makers are:

    - How to make money
    - Relationships (romantic or platonic)
    - Health

    2. Choose a specific niche within that. E.g. you might want to teach men how they can impress girls and get a date.

    3. You don't need to be an expert in an area to teach it - expert status is just one way of showing that what you teach works. It does help to choose a niche and topic that you have some experience/results in an area though - why make it harder for yourself.

    4. Do a search on Amazon for books related to your choosen topic.

    5. Look at and buy the best selling books on that topic. Study their blurb on Amazon and take notes on the language they use to sell their book.

    6. Read and note down their negative reviews and positive reviews. You'll use the negative reviews to help create an angle for your book.

    7. Write a short report on your topic. (3-5K words)

    8. Create an additional "Thermal" piece of content that people can download related to the topic you are writing about.

    9. Buy a domain name and set up a landing page with an email signup box. When people enter their email address they will be subscribed to your list and will receive the bonus content.

    10. Link to that webpage at the back of your report and tell them what they will get for signing up (that Thermal content you created).

    11. Load report onto Amazon. Price it at $0.99

    12. Use Amazon free tools to promote book.

    13. You'll have a percentage of people who buy your book who will sign up to your email list and voila you now have a list of people who have already spent money with you (gold dust for any business)

    14. Sell those people more expensive and in-depth products based on what they have already bought from you.

This is largely cost free except for the cost of hosting, domain name and auto-responder.

Yes it seems overwhelming and you don't know how to do all of those steps yet but just get started and you'll work it out as you go along. That's how 99% of successful people do it.

You can do this! You're just overwhelmed because you're looking at the whole entire process that it might take to complete it. You need to break down the steps into smaller chunks to meet your goal -- and just conquer one thing at a time. But, standing still gets you nowhere....so even if you move forward at a snail's pace you'll be making progress.

You can practice using the main features of WordPress by setting up a free site at WordPress.com...it's much easier than it looks. There's lots of videos on YouTube that can help you get started.

Have you considered trading services? You could write for someone in exchange for them helping you to set up a WordPress site on your own host / domain.

In the meantime, decide on a niche that you'd like to write about. Visit Amazon to check out the best sellers to see what topics are popular...because this is what people are "buying."

Pick a topic, create an outline and just get started writing. Then, you can take the next step of getting ready to publish it online when you're finished.

    Wishing you success!!

    That never worked for anyone.

Rethink that statement. There's a ton of work to be had offering content creation services. By your own admission, you just gave up - even when you seemed to have done all the hard work. The only thing you actually seem to be lacking is an awareness of how to promote those services...

It would be far simpler to learn how to promote your writing and content creation services than learning how to find a market, write a book and promote it. You can learn all that while creating content for people who already know how to do the rest and learn from them.

Even a free blog, if you have good writing samples, can act as a venue for selling your services. If you can write you can get work. Just find a way to link up to people who need writing work done. That's all.

There, that's not overwhelming is it.
