What's the best way to advertise locally?

Would like to hear from people that have experience advertising within one metro area - I'm organizing a seminar and only want to pull from my city.

If you have experience with any of the following, I'd appreciate your feedback:

Yahoo email - I see them at the top of the Inbox.
FaceBook
YouTube
email
Any other suggestions?

    Facebook is especially good for geotargeting. With it you can geotarget AND target people with specific interests related to your seminar.

    YouTube is the other one. Google is really good at geotargeting as well. But I would recommend advertising on specific videos that people might watch who would be interested in your seminar instead of geotargeting and keyword based advertising.

      My mistake, subject line should have read: What's the best way to advertise locally via the Internet.

      Appreciate the responses, however, I'm really interested in hearing from someone that's used Yahoo email, FaceBook, etc., for local advertising, that will share any tips they've learned.

    If you have a lot of money you can rent a billboard along side of a road. I guess it depends on how big your seminar room will be, is it for 1000s of people or just 20?

    Other suggestions would be flyers. Some apartments have a board for posting flyers near their mailboxes. Put a stack of flyers on some gas station check out counters, just ask the clerk if you can put them there, they usually say yes.

    You didn't mention Craigslist, they have an Events category under Community.
