Best way to build a list

I had to bootstrap my business when I first started so it was all free traffic blogging.

I used the google keyword planner tool & long tail pro to find the low-hanging fruit keywords (high search volume and low competition).

I blogged my ass off around these buyer keywords & created backlinks until I started ranking page 1 in Google and getting steady traffic to my website.

Then I optimized my site for lead capture with a juicy freebie opt-in and plastered opt-in boxes everywhere.

Now I generate 100+ leads per month on autopilot and I'm scaling up.

I somehow read 100+ as 100k and I went nuts.
You suggestion is awesome. I have been doing pretty much the same. But I am currently promoting affiliated products.
Creating in house products is a long term goal.

I do the same as Tim. Blog as much as possible to create that foundation. Youtube videos linking back to my site where I can capture leads.
Paid traffic comes in handy as well. Getting tougher to get my ads approved on Facebook though.

Blogging is definitely one of the best ways to get quality backlinks and traffic to your site.

One website that is absolutely astounding for this is Reddit. You can find many sub-reddits of your niche, participate in the sub-reddit and let your account age for a few days so that your link post doesn't get marked as spam. After this you can just submit a link back to your website and it drives a ton of traffic if the header draws attention.

Buy solo ads if you have some cash and then use affiliate offers and selling solo ads yourself to get your money back.

Solo ads are definitely the best way to go since it usually doesn't require a huge investment upfront.

Selling a product and leading those people to your list is your best source for ensuring you succeed because you are getting serious buyers to your list and not entirely freebie seekers.

There is no set way to building a list since every traffic source out there can be utilized to build a list.

Yes sell solo ads is the way to go but only if you already have a big list. If you are new to list building and have a small list then to build this list you really have no choice but to spend some money buying traffic. Buy funnel clicks(only from Thank You Pages) from trusted sellers that you can find in many Facebook Groups. Then do clickbanking with many partners ( I recommend about 8-10 partners at any time). Essentially these partners have a list too and you agree to send him or her a specific amount of clicks say within two weeks. Once he has received all the clicks from you, he or she then returns that same amount of clicks back to you. So if you have a good number of regular partners you can expect to build your list to quite a sizable number very quickly. However you will need to spend a little money to buy the traffic.

There are two ways you can go about building your list.

1.) Free marketing - Forum , Blogging, Guest Blogging, Video Marketing, Facebook Fan Page
2.) Paid marketing - banners, PPC, solo ads, PPV

If you are going to invest in paid marketing always measure each campaign and start low.

If you are going to invest your time in free marketing it takes consistency to see results.

Focus on a couple of methods when first starting out until you master 1 method.

Solo ads are an awesome and affordable way to start building your list. But keep in mind there can be lots of freebie seekers.

So it is important build out your funnel and start creating a secondary buyers only list using a product you own and sell for 7 bucks or less. That then becomes the real money list and true long term asset.

Anyway for a good place to start with solos checkout Udimi.com as everyone is rated on there. You have a much better chance of getting high quality solo.

i publish lots of kindle books, when the books are on free promo, i go into the select niche groups on facebook, tell them I have a free book and make them opt into it. this gets me targetted opt ins for free

There are many ways you can build a list, but I think the main idea is to get as much traffic as possible. So, promoting yourself anywhere you can is key. Social media, blogs, forums, the main idea is to get yourself noticed! Just make sure your offer is interesting, you have to make people want to subscribe.

You have gotten a lot of suggestions above already.

But just because some people get results doing a specific thing, doesn't mean that you will be too. You have got to role up your sleeves and start with one of those suggestions above. Find the one that feels right to you. Not the one that looks good on paper.

Then prepare to do some work.

You have got to go out and see what will work for you.

There are no short cuts to successful list building.

Many marketers launch free WSOs to build a list. This will get a lot of optins. But, I guess you are just starting off. I suggest you use a mentor who is good at list building. If you are new to it, chances are you will have a lot of questions and will need a lot of guidance. If you can't afford a coach, just browse around this forum, you will find a lot of useful information.
