"You just need to focus & be willing to work hard" - How True Is This?

It's interesting to note that, time and again, after all the debates on which IM model works the best, which product has the best conversion, which traffic method drives the most visitors, etc, many seasoned Warriors say "You gotta be focused and put in the hard work, if you do, you WILL succeed in IM".

I find this to be mostly true. Do you? Are there other factors that you need to be successful in this "industry"?

I just got done reading a great book that comes highly recommended.

The Success System That Never Fails

I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Of course if you want a quicker read you can read Dan Kennedy's Ultimate Success Secret which is another great read.

    Tim

PS: To answer your question there are a lot of factors that are needed but if you're willing to learn, take daily action, and adjust as needed you'll be better off than most.

It's true if you have a system that works. It's also possible to work harder than anyone else and make next to nothing. Working hard on the right things will get results. Working hard on the wrong things is a huge waste of time.

To know if you're working with a good system the only thing you can do is give it a try. If you have good results, keep doing what works. If you have poor results, find something else and give it a fair try.

Just don't be too hastey to jump from one thing to the next. If you move on to the next thing before giving your current project a fair shot you'll spend a lot of time bouncing from one system to another and never get anything of value finished.

I believe you have to work hard in the beginning, and once you get a system down you can outsource most if not all the work. Caveat being that you will end up being bored out of your mind like I have been recently.

When I first got into IM, I was an information junkie. I sat on my computer for hours reading what ever I could about IM. Then I actually got some ideas, implemented them, and so on and so forth.

Here are some of the keys to my success and what I see in others who are successful.

      1) Have a good attitude and mindset. Think big grow rich!

      2) Surround yourself with like minded individuals, and or a mentor.

      3) Put the Ebooks down, and DO SOMETHING for crying out loud.

      4) Find a niche or product you are passionate about.

      5) Educate yourself. There is a million of great forums out there like Warrior that you can find almost anything you want to know for FREE!

      6) Getting good targeted traffic usually doesn't happen over night. Build for the long haul.

      7) Learn how to build landing pages, websites, blogs ect....or make good friends with a developer/designer like I did

      8) Build a list, and learn how to use auto responders. It is so true that the money is in the list!

      9) Try to automate as much as possible

      10) Never give up! Trust me, it took me 12 years until I made a full time income online. If I would have listened to all the nah sayers, I would be working at WalMart down the road!

I am sure there is much to elaborate on here, but I figured I would share my insights.

That is a very good post jstover77. Every point you made is true. The problem I have is time. I'm trying to work online as well as my full time and part time jobs that bring in needed money to pay the bills and get medical insurance. I'm working on building a business and know that it's hard work. But it's also fun. Thanks again!

Honestly, it's like working out. Just make the time, even if it is 30 minutes a day/every other day.

Look at it this way. If you do nothing, your life will stay status quo.

Most people don't have the resources to find financial backers. Let's be realistic here.

Absolutely, focus and hard work pay off, just like in any other aspect of your life. Likewise the plan that you are focusing and working hard on, has to be sound. You can focus and work hard on a diet, but if the foundation of that diet isn't sound, you aren't going to lose weight, same with starting a business.

If your time is limited, it's even more important to be focused. Find one system that works and stick with it. There will be plenty of time to explore other options down the road.

Focus and hard work will do wonders, but they have to be tempered with vision and judgment.

You could focus on the obstacle in front of you, and work until you break trying to get through it. Then you find out it wasn't a high wall you had to go through. It was a rock you could have gone over or around if you had stepped back and gotten a clear vision of the obstacle.

So to say you just need to focus and work hard may not be the best course...

But, the skills can easily be learned through focus and hard work.

Testing and working efficiently are the name of the game, imo. Define your process and work from there.

The idea behind focus and work hard is to test all that you do
so your "hard work" doesn't go in vane.
If you test, you'll get results, you'll improve and you'll retest and
    improve again.
That kind of focus and hard work gets you anywhere you want to go!

Definitely true. I remembered a time I knew about 90% of what I knew today, and I was making absolutely nothing. That's because I never took action. When I did, I began to see profits coming in...and that just drives me to take more action, try more things out. In IM there is a lot of testing to do, which requires hard work. Focus is also needed so that you don't procrastinate (which I did in the past as well) and prevent you from seeing results. Just my 2 cents

That is so true - when i have a new product coming out i will work around the clock and put every ounce of effort into it.

I have been working on some new niches lately and have been working up to 19hrs a day but i know it will be worth it and i am focused on the end result. Which is lots of sales and the month of august off.

    kind regards

That's right, Kelvin. He's getting a ton of traffic but hasn't yet monetized his site.

From what I've read, it's probably better not to monetize early on, if you're building a niche blog following. Once you've gained people's trust and built a community, you can introduce some monetizing gradually. You may lose some folks who get bent out of shape for making money from all your honest, hard work (as if they are somehow getting cheated), but in the long run you're probably better off without that type of person lurking about your cyberspace.

I think maybe 8 months is a little too long to wait to monetize, but how can you argue with Thomas's results as far as visits?

Most people fail in IM because they are easily led by people trying to flog them stuff, then leave them to flounder with little or no support.

Of course there will be no shortage of new products and 'a good friend of mine' emails coming your way.

I saw a video the other day from the WPD guy.

He went round this guys house who started doing WP blogs in niche markets and did a rinse and repaet job.

He's doing 25k a month in I think he said six months.

Now he probably worked hard but 6 months for gods sake!

I find this half right. I was willing to work hard for a long time (6 years!)? And I just didn't know WTF to do with my determination.

I would hear things like, "build a list."

Um, okay - where do I do that, how, and for a tech dummy like me, explain. I would have bought books on it, etc. I did - some were pure fluff and crap. So I got discouraged.

The work part of it is never ending, the hours are longer at the beginning, and you will have to be self motivated. But the rewards will be worth it in the end. Once you have had a little success it almost becomes an addiction.

Ain't that the truth! I suspect most of the alleged 95% of folks who don't make it in IM fell short in the motivation area. I know I did for a long while...

Working hard is part of the puzzle....other pieces of
the puzzle is most importantly, have a very positive mindset...
and when you have taken massive action on a project, take a
second and look back and see what worked and what worked and what didnt.

    Good Luck

Basically, focus and be willing to work hard should apply in any situation that we do, especially with IM. But other factors will take into consideration too in gaining success and most of all, be prepared in what ever you'll facing in the future.

When you are in IM ,it definitely hard to stay focus as you want to do 100 projects at once. Also by Just opening your email and you get tempted about offers here and there from the gurus !
Gmail has got a great feature now. You can add "Daily Tasks" and this could help in time management

    Focus definitely, hard never.

    We work smarter not harder.

Dedication, discipline, commitment and ideally passion are all required.

So many people sit in front of a PC all day, doing "research" and other stuff, convincing themselves they are working hard, committed etc, but they often fail to do the one initial step that makes the difference:

    Take action.

Tiffany, you have hit on one of the biggest obstacles. You can have all the laser focus in the world, work until your fingers fall off, and not see the success you want.

As you learned working with Craig, one of the biggest obstacles is "what you don't know that you don't know."
