Im trying to make some money with teespring so i can upgrade my old camera to a dslr, im getting an increased interest as im a hobby fotographer.

So hers is my problem, i have run 3 campaigns and no sales i dont know if my sales pitch is bad or the product it self or maby both.

If i cant get it to work i think its better to save the money and use it for the new dslr but it will take for ever to raise 1100usd.

So far i have spend 60usd on the campaigns and im looking for some kind of result so i can scale it up, but so far no result so what am i doing wrong here.

This is the teespring campaign: LIMITED EDITION | Teespring

I advertise on facebook and use targeting to decrease the cpc wich is about 0,80 cent close to 1 dollar i think its a bit high.

Hi. Thanks for sharing your unique position- it makes it a lot easier to answer your specific questions.

First off, you used 17 total words for your campaign and both sentences are just generic statements. Your shirt is not a "must-have for entrepreneurs" because I certainly don't have to have it...which is why I didn't reserve one. If you would have told your story about being a professional photographer trying to start a company and saving up for a DSLR though, then hey...I might have thrown in my twenty bucks to support you. So give me an honest paragraph about you and why you're doing this.

Facebook advertising is RIDICULOUS though; why on Earth would you pay for leads on an unproven idea with bad copy? Now, I like the shirt...but this isn't about a t-shirt at all....it's about marketing yourself. And if you don't have a single friend, family member or co-worker who would buy a shirt from you, then why on Earth would I?

So my advice is to stop all paid advertising, scrap this campaign and go back to the drawing board with a similar idea. Before launching it though, reach out to everyone you know, tell them about the upcoming sale to support your dream, and print a shirt that makes us proud to be a part of your journey.

If you're a photographer, then I expect a sweet full color shirt with a cool design for around $25-34. Just don't try to limit yourself to just one niche when your ideal customer is your relatives.

    I hope that helps.

    Here's my honest opinion:

The quote is semi-decent, but the graphic is terrible. Would you wear that t-shirt? Would you spend $20 for two clip art hands shaking and a quote you likely heard while going to grade school?

Please don't take this as me being rude – I'm just trying to put things in perspective for you.

You need to know your audience. Maybe, MAYBE if the graphic was better and the shirt was more visually appealing people might be interested.

But that still begs the question: Who is your target audience?

What filters are you using in the campaign – who exactly are you selling to? This quote is way too general to even fit with a specific demographic so there's a huge problem right there.

Secondly, your copy is bad. Just "Limited Edition" as the title? All Tesspring t-shirts are "Limited Edition." You need to pick out better unique benefits if you want to convince people they need to buy your stuff.

Have you tried looking up the best selling shirts? Have you attempted to see what niches people are interested in? You need to do some market research before you just blindly start a campaign and have no idea what people want.

And honestly, the graphics do matter. People are wearing a t-shirt that has a message on it. If it's a poor graphic, they're not going to want to display it. They could likely find a shirt with the same quote or saying, with a better image.

Tldr; Conduct better research, know your market, improve your graphics and copy, and refine who you're targeting in your ad campaigns. You need to have a finely oiled machine, not just guesses. You will lose money on guesses more often than not.

Did you take down the shirt design? All it shows on the Teespring campaign is "Image Unavailable".

i see a typo in the quote. The design is not eye-catching. The quote itself is somehow motivating but the "graphic" is meh.
I suggest that you focus on something a bit more specific; find your target market, go on Fiverr and pay someone to create a cooler graphic and then run another campaign.

      Best of Luck!

Thanks for all your oppinions, i toke the campaign down no point spending money on something that dosent work.

Okay so i did everything wrong, bad art work and typo with a generic quote, and the sales pitc needs to be better, With all that in mind i think i will stop trying and save what i can for the new dslr.

My hats off for those who can make money, its not an easy task and requires a unique mindset.

Its funny even now i still have a voice in my head telling me to keep on trying (you can do it) its hard to let go, but i fear my place is to be the one clicking the buy now button and not the one making the buy now button.

listen to that voice in your head, don't give up. Just because you failed it doesn't mean that you cant be successful! You just have to do more research and of course ask here in the forum. There are plenty of people that have experience and are willing to give you their honest opinion and help you.

I gave you everything you need to make a similar campaign a success with zero investment, so hopefully you realize that it's not the idea that doesn't work...it's you giving up so easily that makes it a failure.

It's better, but you still missed the point entirely. While you may be a welder, your friends and family aren't....so they may not buy a welding t-shirt. This is a product you have to be able to sell to those close to you at first and have them share their purchases on social media...that's how these kinds of ideas gain traction.

For inspiration, go to Threadless and check out what's popular there. Find a design you like, make something similar, and then promote it to those close to you. Your best bet is using on of your photos though...make it something personal to you.

Friends and family...that's the key. Sell to friends and family 1st to show everyone else that you deserve support.

Also, make the "story" about you being a photographer and saving for a new camera. In fact, never mind..I'll write the story-

Support My Dream & Get a Limited Edition Tee or Hoodie!

      Hi everyone!

As you know, I am very passionate about photography and I'd love to make it a career. So I created this limited edition t-shirt and hoodie to raise funds for a new DSLR camera. If you'd like to support my journey to make this dream a reality, then please reserve your selections now and share this campaign with your friends through the social channels to the left.

The actual graphics I chose for this limited-edition printing is <say where you took the picture and what it meant to you>. It is also printed on soft, premium blended cotton so you'll be able to show off your support in style for years to come.

Thanks in advance for helping me make my dream a reality!

I actually was quite successful with tee spring. I think I posted some post about it like last year. So that was quite a while ago.

Ok the first shirt, won't work. That niche will not buy that one.

The second shirt has legs. Change "Welders get full penetration" to "Welders do it with full penetration".

I would also go to fiverr.com and get a designer to do up the design. Welders love skulls and black shirts. They won't buy that color. I know because I'm in that niche and have sold a lot of shirts in it. (including the phrase used here).

With tshirt sales, you have to connect to the audience and give them something they can't wait for their friends to see. Humor works well, so does "i kick ass" type shirts.

Design is important, but targeting is just as important. You didn't mention what you did for ads or targeting or budget. That's pretty important information.

Apparently English is not your native language and that's okay, but man, those spelling errors are no no. Please use spell check at least.

Teespring campaigns are mainly successful if the demo is passionate enough. The first one is too broad and no one will buy that. Second one is okay but again, the wording is wrong. Also, try darker colors like ppc coach said, black is your best bet.

Teespring is not easy at all. You need a lot of money to test a bunch of variations of a single shirt design along with campaigns. If it was that easy, every single person would quit their day jobs and work from home. There are too many variables and don't expect to get it right at your first try. That would be extremely optimistic. Some niches are tight, some niches are very picky, some niches don't have many enthusiastic buyers. Aligning passionate buyers with a rocking design is very very hard to achieve.

Hi, okay i toke a step back and began rethinking how i could use my facebook profile to get some sales from friends and family, and came up with this new design.

Many of them are self employed and do make money online so i thought this design would appel to them, but even if they all bought one i still wouldent raise enughf for the camera so im allso going to use facebook ads to promote it.

This is the design: Online entrepreneur or marketing expert? | Teespring

Im letting people know how they help me and what its for.

So is this better or still crap?

There's no market for this shirt. There is a market for entrepreneurs but they are not going to be passionate in buying a shirt like this at all.

They want to make money no spend it to buy t-shirts.

Go with people (particularly women) who have passionate hobbies or are passionate about things like animals.

Pit bulls, Nurses, team sports, harley davidson,...are a few niches that sale tons of teespring on FB.

There is a lot of competition but if you have something unique it will sell

      - Robert Andrew

P.S. Nobody in their right mind would buy a shirt with a clearly misspelled word !!

Now you need to make sure what is your goal?
To build a campaign that directly sell to your audience?

Or build a campaign that your audience which they are interacting with your cloth, making them interested in your cloth?

If you're a wanderer on FB, and you saw some marketing stuff POP UP on to your screen, would you buy in your first view?

What is the most powerful tool on FB? I guess you should have known.

Dbm811, I'm in the same boat. I tried three campaigns and failed. But I have that Irish stubbornness in me that will not let me give up until i find a way to succeed.! Failure is not an option! This is why I'm on this site, so maybe I can get some help and advice from some good people here.I understand about picking a niche, but i'm not sure if i'm placing my ad's the correct way with face book. I'm going after the christian market, and my Facebook page is called. Wearing Your Faith, with the whole Idea Is to create nice designs with christian themed t-shirts. My whole idea is to get people to spread God's word by wearing t-shirts. Thus the name, wearing your faith! I haven't had any luck yet, but I'm still trying! Good luck, and please don't give up.

It's not easy. 70 to 80% of your attempts will FAIL.

But the ones that do work, work well typically.

You have to have the following 3 criteria for it to work:

1.) You have to be able to find the audience on Facebook, (if you're using them).
2.) They have to have disposable income.
3.) The shirt has to be something that makes them laugh or hits an emotional trigger in them.

Hit all 3 and you've got a winner.
