The End Of IM As We Know It

Hi internet marketers,

I see that Ed Dale and the gang at 30 dc are putting on a proper TV show and it's being broadcast kind of worldwide.

Now, I'm beginning to think that if people see this on tv, IM is going to become a whole lot harder as there will be a mass influx of people doing it.

At the moment IM is relatively unknown, it is almost like a cult career but soon it will be mainstream and to be quite honest, I'm a bit worried.

When I tell friends about what I do, they are quite interested but not as far as to get right into it, even when I tell them how great it is and how they can even do it part-time etc. But many people out there, when they see it on telly for themselves with the 30dc, will at least want to try it, surely.

When I found out about IM, I suppose I was actively looking for it, most likely, people who do it now were. But if it is on TV it is going to be right in your face, whether you were looking for it or not.

I think some competition is good with fellow marketers and stuff and I think it's great when people find what they are looking for with IM but imagine the tidal wave or spammers etc that could be on the horizon, aargh.

What do you guys think?

Yves

Well, just to be specific it is very nice because we can know if you really have the guts in IM so learn more knowledge I mean acquire.

        PS:
        Also misinforming title.

Yes, I agree, it's not simple at first is it.

Although, I think it is partly a good thing that they are putting it on tv, I am just worried, like I said, about even more spammy marketers.

How is the title misinforming? With reference to my post, it could change the IM world a bit.

Lol, true. No good for me though, I'm not in the IM niche . However, perhaps that is something to look into .

if you are in the IM niche it will always be harder ... but if you are in other niches just stick with it

Well "Internet Marketing" is becoming a bit of a misnomer.

Whereas before we use the phrase "Internet Marketing" to distinguish it from "offline marketing" in reality it is all still marketing but using different mediums.

Actually Internet Marketing is the new marketing, and in a decade people will look back and say "do you remember the days of Paper Marketing?".

I think anything that brings attention to online business is absolutely positive, and the future will hold great excitement as well as challenges, not the least of which, as you say, will be keeping the "newbies" in check.

I am sure all the big services - Google, social networks, etc will move to head off any threat as it happens, resulting in the maturing of Marketing on the Internet.

Actually thinking about it yes. It might actually become easier.

At the moment sometimes it can seem a bit cloak and dagger. If it becomes more of a standard practice and out in the open there might be easier ways of doing things and even better tools etc.

    I dunno.
