HI

havent logged in here in a few months.

I figured out the free usage for keyword planner on adwords.

As a beginner seo guy, to start getting healthy traffic,

what do we do once we have figured out the keywords for our website; where do these keywords go exactly to start working on that targeted traffic? where do we put these keywords?

thanks

There are so many different opinions about the specifics of SEO and how best to get your site ranked high in google. For SEO, your site needs to contain several elements in order to get good google rankings. Things like choosing the right keywords , having the right keyword density per post, meta tags and meta descriptions, good linking structures, backlinks and site map.

I've seen several of these elements discussed thoroughly in the forum, so I suggest you spend some more time looking through the forum for specifics on each of them.

The big problem is every man and his dog uses the Google Keyword Planner when researching keywords.

But there is a massive problem when you do that.

      Take a simple example....

Say you're in the 'weight loss' market and you type 'weight loss' into the Keyword Planner, you'll get back around 800 keywords that you can choose from

Now, if say 100,000 other people, who are also in the weight loss market, come to the keyword planner, and type in 'weight loss', do you think the keywords planner will show them the same 800 keywords as it showed to you?

      Of course it will.

So straight away, you've got a list of keywords that 99,999 other people in the weight loss market have got.

Which means you now have 99,999 potential competitors, all trying to rank for them same 800 keywords.

Can you see how crazy it is to do that?

The secret is, you have to find and focus on targeting keywords that Google does not give to everyone, if you don't you'll be beating your head against the wall, and you'll get nowhere.

        To GlenH:

i dont like the idea that you are dissing keyword planner; most people will do this to tempt the new guys like me to steer away from the planner system because if I master this system, I will be a threat to your business (assuming I am within the same niche as you) how to use keyword planner is a great asset to marketing. you may find it quite a benefit for leverage being an expert in the system and may be in threat if new guys like me learn to use it right so you will say bad things about it for us new guys to avoid it at all expense especially when its free; even if thats the case, and I go another "paid" route, I will still find my way to the art of SEO.

The keywords go in your content.

For example, you find a good keyword that looks easy to rank for "wheat grass supplement".

You would create a piece of content (an article, with text, pictures, graphics, video) and use your keyword strategically in the article.

In the title: "How to make your own wheat grass supplement"

Near the beginning of the article and a few times throughout:
"Wheat grass is becoming ever more popular as are wheat grass supplements. They are so popular..."

In the Alt Txt for images: <img src="img url" alt="wheat grass supplement">

Using an SEO plugin like All-in-One SEO you can also add it to the SEO description.

Read up about "on page SEO" to learn how to optimize content for keywords without "over optimizing".

The other use for keywords is as anchor text for backlinks. Although Google has worked hard to punish over optimization of keywords in backlink anchor text.

Finally, keywords are used for paid search advertising (i.e. Google Adwords) to determine when your ads are displayed. You would create campaigns around different keywords and then monitor which keywords perform and which do not in order to optimize your campaigns.

The keywords goes into both types, ON PAGE and OF FPAGE

On Page means you have to put keyword on your site.

Off page means insert keywords on other sites.

Build related links to gain more backlinks, traffic and much more for your site.

/remember unnatural links will lead to penalize your site.

Well, according to me, for a healthy and quality traffic, you need to go for SEO strategies, where it is completely relying on OnPage and Off-page SEO strategies. Both are different and important for getting a better result in the SERP. Onpage is used for keyword placement and optimization purpose and off-page is used for link building on particular keywords. Both of these are important for ranking your website in the SERP.

Keywords stand for both ON page and Off Page. So before doing anything just go in detail reading about on page seo then start your work. In seo the most important thing is have patient, if you don't then you may be in great trouble.

Put the keywords that you've found in your title, content, url. Other than that, use it as your link back to your website when you are putting your website link on other websites. Don't use too much of that and diversify with naked links as well.
