Hi all,
The heading is a little more dramatic than the truth but I wanted it to be easy for others to find as well.
After going through a course I bought on ranking video's I produced and published a YouTube video to send traffic to my t shirt site.
After running its URL through a few pinging sites, putting up on social media sites and embedding it in a classified ad, I decided to follow another apparent white hat method in the course and use youlikehits.com to get more views. I bought some credits and let it run overnight and it collected just under 1000 views and was ranking on page one for a highly competitive keyword in a google search. Then suddenly YouTube stepped in and sent the views back to 301+ while they checked to see if my collected views were genuine. According to them this would take a few hours, then my view count would climb back up. This was over a week ago and the only change had been the video has plummeted in the rankings and can no longer be seen in the top 10 pages on a search result.
Of course I am not happy as this vid is important for me to get traffic to my site, so I am considering a solution....
What if I pulled the video and edited it by a few seconds so YouTube saw it as a different video, then put it back up in a day or so but was less aggressive in my SEO methods? Do you think that could work?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I think its not work 100% because your main goal is to get traffic & the important thing is there your video is same like before so why people going to interest about your video because they already saw/download your video.

anynewsbd, I appreciate you taking the time to reply but it's obvious the video has been penalised by YouTube, The people who have already seen it are not going to be future traffic to my site. What I need is more and more people to see the video and if it's been penalised that's not going to happen. It needs to rank to remain popular.

I don't know how purchasing views can be considered a white hat method. I don't think it is blackhat either but I would certainly consider it a grey hat method.

I think if youtube have decided to penalise the video there isnt much you can do other than removing it and trying again with a different video and dont be as aggressive with SEO.

Thanks Andrianhenry. I'll pull it tonight, cut a few seconds from either end in an editor, then publish it again in a few days.
I have another video on the same channel going after a different topic (still to do with t shirts) and keyword that I have been also buying likes/views for but much less aggressively and that hasn't yet been touched. So fingers crossed.
    Cheers

Youtube has specifically said time and time again that they don't like fake views. I take this to mean they don't like fake views.

At this point, since your video seems to be penalized you really have nothing to lose by editing a few seconds from it and maybe adding another few seconds to it in the form of an "end card" with a good call-to-action and uploading it again and starting over. I'd also delete the original video.

If you wanted to use fake views, you should've found a "pro" provider. Youlikehits is definitely not one of those providers.

Can you believe I put my Warrior Forum password on a public repository on github? I am an idiot. Anyone could login as me and do whatever they wanted, like changing my signature, for instance.

    Now there's an oxymoron!

Have any of you ever considered doing it the right way?

Do any of you understand the concept?

When my former youtube account got banned, I opened two accounts, I uploaded 10 different videos to each of them. And I pointed backlinks and bought views to 10 of the videos in one account and left the other 10 videos in the other account alone. After a while, the youtube account that I bought backlinks and views for all the 10 videos got banned!

Moral of the story? Youtube is getting smarter in detecting accounts that are "gaming" their system. They are getting smarter in detecting fake views and fake backlinks. And they would keep getting smarter. Use another strategy that does not involve buying views or backlinks to your videos.

Google is clamping down on fake you tube views. Also, there are fake likes, comments, and subscribers even. This is an attempt to trick the algorithm to rank you higher, so Google is striking back at you.

Best strategy is to have a lot of videos about one topic that are popular and this will help you rank well for all of em. Also, here is an optimizing tip that will not penalize you. Provide Google with a captions for your movies. This will help you rank higher if the keyword is in your video so make sure it is.

Fiverr has cheap captioning services. That is, if you do not want to do it yourself as this takes time and is messy. All the best to you.

Buying fake views is not white hat and a total waste of time and money. Not sure why you're trying to outsmart Google. It won't work.

I've had many videos rank for the keywords I was going after and I never once bought any views, or really did too much SEO of any kind now that I think about it.

The only things I do as far as SEO is to make sure my keyword(s) are in the actual video file name, video title, description box and in the tags.

If you make a good video that addresses a solution to a problem people are having, it will pick up steam all on it's own. It might not happen in a day or even a week or a month, but if your video is high quality it will stand out from the rest.

My father has this saying he always uses when talking about things that require competition. He says "The cream always rises to the top." Now this may sound kind of simple, but I have found it to be true in many aspects of my life.

Simply put, if you produce a quality video that stands out on it's own merits, there is no need to do anything else because in time people are going to share the video, comment on the video, and like the video all on their own.

You've been given great advise above but I would like to add that Google (Youtube) is looking for organic views, comments, likes and backlinks. Natural growth is very important. 1000 views in one night is nowhere close to natural growth unless you're a popular person, but even if you're popular they'll investigate and check if the views are legit.

My advise, keep everything organic and natural. These days it's easy to spot someone who's trying to game the system. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks to you all for the advice.
The video is now up and no fake likes, views or subscribers will be applied.
9 views since it went up yesterday so that's OK I suppose.

Hey ozphoto... I've noticed that placing the website link on the first line in the video description have gotten me more click throughs. All viewers may not click on show more and may never see the link to your website.

It also ensures that your website link is displayed when a visitor does a search and your video is returned with a list of other videos.

I would suggest making that change

      How Youtube (Google) thinks IMHO-
pay Google to promote your content -good
pay anyone else to do so -bad

so 'viewing exchanges' etc. are likely to result in position demotion or having the video removed.
What you are thinking of doing may work. Youtube is a moving target, they change how they do things often.

Thanks Janice but the course was only $7.00 and did contain a lot of relevant and useful information, so overall I am not unhappy with it.
Things are changing so rapidly with YouTube and Google that when the course was first published, the information it contained was probably all correct.
I'll take this one on the chin and call it a lesson learned.

Cheers all and thanks a tonne for your helpful replies :-)

Think of this, youtube only took the numbers.. The most important thing is, the numbers that youtube took already watched and saw your video. And that's the very essence why you have that video in place.

What you can do now is either you follow what is really needed to be followed when it comes to Youtube's T&C's or you can start all over again deleting that video and re-uploading it. I'm just hoping that Youtube won't noticed it all!
