Brandable Domain Name Review

3 weeks ago I obtained a domain name .
LANCROSS was a watch brand but it declined.
So, lancross.com was released. It is an aged domain created in 2004.
I backordered and obatined it.

Now, I'm going to build a website(store) for selling outdoor products. I like the meaning of "cross" especially.
So I like this domain and want to use it. Are there any troubles if I use this brand "LanCross"?
Of course, I will have my own Logo.

By the way, greatly appreciate if you can provide any other explanation(meaning) of "LanCross". Because English is not my mother tongue, I wonder if there will be any exact meanings of this words.

XieXie(Thanks so much.)

  • There is no US registered trademark on the word. Your next step should be doing searches online to see if anyone is using the word in connection with outdoor products.

Even if someone were selling watches with that name outdoor products are an entirely different product category, so there would like not be any trademark issue.

  • I see where you are coming from. Lancross sounds like a good name... Well done. I think it suits outdoors, most certainly. Gives the impression of "landcross", crossing land in an outdoor sense. Good luck.

    • Yes.
I checked, there're toys with name "LandCross".
Also, "CrossLand" studio or construction company.
      Regatta "Crossland" shoes(outdoor boots).
"LaCrosse" outdoor man boots ("LaCrosse" Footwear, equipment, sticks ...)
      "LaCrosse" furniture
      "LaCross" food, beverage, accessories

"LanCross" was only branded with watch, also another company who specializes in web design in Russia.

      I'm thinking and see ...

      Thanks.

  • Maybe what you can do is to create the brand itself. Purchase white label product and rename/rebrand bit and sale it in amazon to get more exposure of your brand fast. I know it kinda weird, however your brand will be more trusted if you have product that sale in amazon

    • Yes, I think so. I am going to build a website(store) firstly, meanwhile sell some items in Amazon or Ebay.
      Thanks for your comments.
  • I think that if there are no other registered brands using this exact name, then it's safe to use it. It fits in nicely with your niche as well, so if you play your cards right, you could easily brand it
  • i think that before buying such types of domain just do a quick research if they are trademark or not or similar stuff made with same name ....
  • you are going to sell what? outdoor products? are you a fool?

301 loop the the new site so thatall and any 404's goto your main page and sell watches for goodness sakes. you never know how many back links are sitting out there in the world still pointing to your site...

    <shakes head>

    • Greatly appreciating for your kind comments.
I tried to check by a backlink checker, there're 103 backlinks, including 2 backlinks showing that it is from this thread "Brandable Domain Name Review".
Actually, I'm not so good at this.
However, many adged domains were sold and used, how could they be renewed completely?
      Any solutions for this issue?
      Thank you very much.
