Article writing: Should you do this to the exclusion of all else?

I'm new to Internet Marketing but I have made some money. About $109 so far

Being swamped with information from all sides I picked up on article writing and thought that it seemed like a great way to market my site. Indeed I have already written my first article and have posted it to a few online ezines.

The question really is, do you think that article writing is so good that I should spend at least 90% of my time writing and posting articles or is it just as good as anything else, no worse no better?

I really would appreciate your views on this, thanks.

Article writing is great but, it should be part of a multitude of activities you use to promote your site. The more you right the less time it will consume and will leave you with time for other things like link bulding and SEO.

Article marketing is valuable, but from my personal POV, not to the exclusion of all else. In fact, article marketing is generally less productive to my bottom line than other marketing methods -- but I still use it as a tool among several in the toolbox.

Article marketing is a good way to generate good traffic to your site and to build back links but it produce less income. Also you have to join some affiliate programme

Article writing has a lot of pros. For one, you write enought of them on one topic and ta da, you put them all together and have an instant ebook to give to your subscribers. Of you sent them out weekly.

I will create a squidoo lens, direct an article to it, then I may post the article on one of my blogs. I just link it all together. I am also an advisor on a forum. I often just copy one of my articles on the topic to the forum and next thing ya know I have private messages in my inbox and that is leads.

It also helps that I like to write, but I use other things as well, but for now as I am new, its mostly articles.

      Colin,

First of all, congratulations on your $109! That's $109 more than you had before you started writing articles.

I agree with the others...and with what you've said, also...it's best to not "put all your eggs in one basket". Having said that, as has been said, it's a really great idea to start with one project/task, get that going enough where you are comfortable with what you're doing and then move on to something. (But, not to the exclusion of article writing.)

And has been mentioned, your articles can be compiled and used as ebooks, video, audio and the like. You could even use them to put on a teleseminar.

Article writing definitely does get you "name recognition" and links to your site. But you also want to have something to keep your visitors there once they arrive. Or at least keep them returning.

You're going to do just fine.

    No.
Article marketing is one tiny piece of the puzzle.
Do everything you can and test while you do, to see
    what gets you most results.
