Economy and IM

For all you veteran IM's....

Has the economy tanking put a damper on your earnings this year? I was just wondering how hard a hit you've taking, if at all. Is it down 10%, 20% or what is your perspective on the economy and IM.

    I am up in earnings this year! I do have to work about 20% harder than last year to find work though.

    No I've been lucky. But then I find that the harder I work the luckier I get! Not very original I know.

    I think that the true answer probably depends on your niches. My online businesses are fine and looking better than last year. I also have interests in two offline businesses: one has been hit very badly and the other is trading at the same level as last year.

    The recession is really just a good thing for people doing offline IM, as people will need to find other means of getting new clients - Which often tends to be the internet!

    By simply telling them that they can spend less money than with other kinds of advertising, and get better results. They know they will need to adapt to the circumstances, and they realize the Internet might be a good way to go.

    I'm just starting out this year, with my offline business, and it really is a great time to start!

    I believe that the recession has worked in our favor actually...I mean, I've seen no loss of sales, if anything, the first quarter of 09 has been 33% better than last year's first quarter!

    Perhaps more people are going online to find good deals, instead of shopping? That makes sense! Ebay businesses probably increase their income a lot these days.

    i am actually profiting even more this year than last doing the same thing! basically it is about find the right niche and knowing how to monetize it, there will always be people buying stuff online, it is just how you go about finding these people that are already on the verge of making a purchase or has a desperate need for your product.
