Newbie Looking for Advice

Hey guys, very excited to be here among some marketing giants. Our website, TreasureTrooper.com, has been in existence for 10 years, but we've never really spent any money on marketing. We've existed solely on referrals, but are recognizing that it's time to step up our marketing game. Any recommendations on the best place to start would be appreciated, but I'm sure I'll be learning plenty as I begin to browse this forum.

Things we've dabbled in that haven't worked for us:
PPC
Buying Impressions on AOL

    Are you building a list?

Check out BuySellSad.com. Make sure you research any sites before you buy and monitor them closely.

  • TreasureTrooper,

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you're target market for your CPA site is the MMO (Make Money Online) crowd. Your site also has social and gaming components, which I think's good ...

Have you looked at heavily trafficked sites and blogs and Web forums where your target market hangs out, especially those with significant readership bases, mailing list subscribers, active membership bases and top ranking pages in Google and Bing for relevant keywords with significant search numbers?

You can ask the admins / webmasters / owners of those online places for possible guest posting / ad banner / advert placement oppurtunities in their sites ...

The thing in your niche is you first need to make your target market trust you -- Endorsement-based advertising by reputable online communities across their readers, subscribers and members for your site would most likely work. Also:

I think you need to add top quality content to your site, specifically content that can show your target market your credibility, reputation and expertise in relevant subject areas ...

And, offline advertising in credible publications that are relevant to your target market could also work ...

Have you considered inbound content marketing?

Man, you can throw away a lot of money running the social gauntlet or media buying or whatever but I visited your site and feel it could use some personality. Here's my idea.

Install Wordpress and create a blog. You can showcase testimonials, provide tips, etc. You know your audience better than I do but just think about content that people will share across their social media. Why pay for ads when you get people sharing for free?

Even if you don't get a lot of social shares , you'll be building content to be indexed in Google. Your social media is established so you can link the blog all over it. It'll get people talking and sharing and could add a new dynamic to your business.

I've used a Wordpress blog on many projects and as long as the content is quality, it really works.

Would you say your niche is the "make money online" niche? Would it interest you in abandoning this site and starting something new in the MMO market? That's what i'm thinking you should do.

You have to look at how it will affect your members. Look at all the grunt work they have to do to make a few bucks from completing offers. More than likely most of them will want something easier, predictable, and more automated.

      Cool, Treasure Trooper.

Back 71/2 years ago you were one of the first MMO endeavors I pursued.

I think you have gotten some good advice here so I won't add anything.

But that is cool you came here

Haha same! When I first started out I did a bunch of GPT and survey websites to get some quick cash and I think Treasure Trooper was one of the websites I signed up too.

Same here Robert , I had signed up around 6-7 year back. Tried everything as a newbie but never made money and ultimately abandoned Treasure Trooper.

Before you start marketing, you should consider adding a call to action. Even those small sections look like buttons, but were not clickable.

Make it easier for people to sign up.
