Hi Guys

I setup this site a few months ago but haven't been able to earn anything from it.

Weightlossiology.com - The science of losing weight!

If this was your site, what would you do with it?

    What's traffic like?

I would probably at the very least throw some ads on it to start earning something. Google Adsense comes to mind as a quick and easy solution to get started immediately. I'm a long-time publisher at Tribal Fusion, but they have minimum traffic requirements.

I'm sure you could also push some affiliate offers but I'm so out of the loop, I couldn't recommend a CPA company but I'm sure there are no shortage of diet offers.

I see. I would probably do two things:

    1) Explore possible affiliate offers I could integrate within the property

    2) Start collecting emails

Do #2 no matter what. While traffic is low, at least use the website to collect leads. Use a Lightbox or something over the website to get people to give you their email address. Even if the site is just a total dud, you can always email a diet list later on. I use aWeber for all my lists.

How many months had over it and how many articles you have?

Did you built any backlinks? and your traffic is very low.

If I am the person in place of you, then I would have built backlinks for certain long tail keywords to drive traffic.

You can build backlinks slowly but as of now focus on writing unique articles of about 500 words each. Use proper keywords. Use Google adwords tool

Inter link your articles . Build internal links before you start building external backlinks.

Use woorank to get some detailed report about your blog.

Try not to stuff articles with keywords. If you can focus on How-to guides it will attract some traffic.

Do not starting commenting on high PR blogs just for the sake of backlinks. Relevant backlinks are important. Try to connect with other bloggers in your niche. Check out your competitors blogs and see what are they doing differently.

Try Guest Posting on high traffic blogs.

Use sites like Just Retweet to get some free promotion.

Some plugins that you can use: Tweet old post, POP- up domination - use facebook comments - are you using (SEO by yoast) , related content plugin.

Focus on increasing traffic and then you can monetize your blog. Also if its just been a few months, be patient and keep doing your thing.

Start by studying link wheel strategy. It takes a little work upfront but you can quickly leverage it into multiple forms of content to pepper through Web 2.0 sites to build your rank. I wrote a brief article on it for Ezine Articles (and am working on a more detailed info product with more details to launch shortly.)

Where are your affiliate links? Why are you not pitching a legitimate weight loss product on your site (looks nice, by the way)? You need to write a review of a product you like. Exercise is a part of weight loss, so you should have a link to your affiliate product of choice at the end of all relevant articles. A lot of weight loss programs have diet recipes and stuff included with them. If you're going to share a recipe, share one of those, and then, link to your review.

You should also be writing for the search engines (writing about things people are currently looking to find out about in your niche). You could use the Google keyword planner and Google news for this. All you have to do is go to Google, and click on "news." Then, put in your niche topic (weight loss) to get some ideas of things you could talk about on your blog. Don't plagiarize or anything like that, though.

Oh, with all the pictures and stuff on your site and due to the topic of your niche, you should really be sharing stuff on social media sites. These sites alone could bring you in a lot of traffic.

    I'll do the following:

Step 1: Create a squeeze page and give away some valuable content to build list

Free content can be in the following forms:
    • eBook
    • 7 days minicourse
    • Videos
    • Audios
    • Interview
    • Recorded webinar

Step 2: Develop relationship with your subscribers + establish yourself as an expert by sharing valuable content through:
    • blog post
    • newsletters through autoresponder
    • social media sites
    • youtube

Step 3: Promote your own products or affiliate offers

Products can be in the following forms:
    • ebook
    • membership site
    • coaching
    • video tutorials

Keep a balance between content and promotion. Your first objective should be focus on helping your subscribers, the money will follow once the trust is establish.

I like Zig Zaglar quote: "You'll get what you want if you help enough people get what they want"

Step 4: Generate targeted traffic to your squeeze page

There are many ways to generate traffic.

    Hope it helps :-)

There are a number of different things that you could do to start driving more traffic, but I'd likely start with developing a content strategy. With a content strategy in place, you should be able to publish content more consistently, and then move into social media marketing.

Your last article was more than 6 months ago... what new information are you offering your visitors?
