I couldn't even make enough to cover my website hosting...

I dont want to make unrealistic amounts of money, just supplement my current income. If i could double the income of my minimum wage job, that would be lovely.

I feel i failed do to the vast amount of information out there, i took on too much, tried to many things and never grasped each idea fully...

Im not expecting anybody to spoon feed me, but is there anybody that would be kind enough to point me in the right direction? True tried and tested methods... ( beginner friendly)

Thank you

You have not failed, most if not all people go through learning curves and they can come / go last or pop up at anytime. search the term what would you do if you had to start again, often some good posts there and also look up people who are known to be the real deal and read their feedback.

    How long has it been?

How are you trying to make money? Is it via affiliate marketing or any other monetization methods. Let me know

You can easily cover your hosting charges by promoting an affiliate program. Eg your own web hosting affiliate program . For one sale you can easily earn $50+ . Some hosting providers pay even more.

You can earn money by writing articles for $5 on Fiverr

If you can give more details. I can try to guide you with whatever knowledge I have.

    Thanks.

Good that you love design. Can you be more specific? Fiverr has a lot of designer from T-shirt to Logo, Caricature and many more. Like Astral Walker said, you can cover your hosting cost from there.

4 months of internet marketing is just like baby trying to stand up.

There are a lot of Guru who went through years of difficulty and piling a ton of debt before they start seeing success, then went down the drain, then up again with a better business plan.

Stay focus. Choose a niche, choose how you want to do it. Then do it.

I really like the quote below that 4 months of internet marketing is just like a baby trying to stand up and this is probably one of the best references that I have seen for a while. You should look at your website/blog exactly like you would a baby being born in that the 1st couple years are going to be the toughest that you have ever had and it is going to take a ton of love and care in order for it to grow (adding content) Eventually it will start to grow and over time it will continue to stand on it's own, speak to others, and even begin to start walking and running at full speed (bringing in tons of traffic). Keep at it and if you want a successful blog it is going to years of work to keep increasing your traffic but it will all be worth it in the end. I just found an interesting article on how long it takes to rank in Google and it says it takes 6-7 months in order to get some age on your domain and start seeing better results from search engines https://www.reliablesoft.net/how-lon...ank-in-google/ Best of luck and if you never quit, it is only a matter of time

If you are not interested in article writing or affiliate marketing.

I would suggest you to provide your graphic design services on Fiverr. Try to get as many 5 star ratings. $5 is really low but once you become a trusted seller, you will always have orders in queue

At least you are honest with us. Problem I have is that most WSO reports are crap. For example, I have bought so far nine WSO on kindle - yes nine. Well, not even one talked about merchant words which gives you the total searches on amazon. They do not even talk about keyword discovery that gives you hot keywords, or terapeak that gives you information on ebay and amazon.

Mostly they say that the book title is important, but what good is a book if no one needs that particular area. Do not put a book on KDP if no one is searching for that genre. For example, books on how to grow bread mold will probably sell zero copies. It does not matter how good the book is... or how pro the cover is. Heck, it does not even matter if you have a great review from a top name reviewrer.

Key to making money is. Sell what sells, do not sell what you have because people might not want that product or service.

I agree along the same lines as Astral Walker. Only I would open a service on the warrior forum. I still have people contacting me about a service I started a few years back.

Find a niche within your specialty and advertise this. For example even if you are going to offer all kinds of services you could advertise for forum signatures. I don't think people are marketing for these.

*Warning* there may be a reason why but you still can test.

You could also contact product creators who post for reviews in the warriors looking to hire you forum and offer free work for them if they make you their go to guy for graphics for their students. Just some ideas.

    Hi Spondoolies,

Don't give up now! Internet marketing is all about failures and learning from them.
I would suggest you bite yourself into a single method and go from there.

You stated you were into designing. As already said here fiverr can be a option but also etsy since there are also poster and flyer offers overthere and you could make more then $5.

Keep it up man, don't quit.

    Hi spoon,

Many have gone much longer than 4 months before making their 1st dollar online.

One method thats worked for me in the past was to find a product before it launched. Created a website around the product, launched the website and then sold the same product on the website as an affiliate.

    Ill give you an example...

In the hip hop industry years ago Rick Ross and 50 Cent were having a feud. 50 cent invited the mother of Rick Ross's son over to his city, took her shopping and gave her a book deal to write a book.

    I saw an opportunity there.

The book was to becalled Tia's diary (I registered the domains tiasdiary.com, tiadiary.com) found the lady and her manager on facebook and told them that I was launching the website and wished to sell the book.. we spoke a few times but it didnt go anywhere.

I launched the site before the book was out and later realised they had registered the domain name... tiasdiaryitsdeeperthanrap.com... anyways... since I lost communication with them... I kept an eye out for the book launch and found that it was being sold on Amazon.

I had already had an affiliate account with amazon.. so I simplty listed the book on the website and raked in the sales as they were promoting the book.

That was one example out of many thats worked for me.

Gl my friend... dont give up... you have not failed.

    Saiah

    • Can you tell me what is your niche about? If you are not making enough amount to cover your hosting charges, you are really on the wrong route. There are hundreds of way you can earn a decent amount. you can promote affiliate links, you can offer services for article writing, Graphic designing, programming, SEO etc etc. Even from Fiverr you can earn ten time more of your hosting charges in a single month. If you do not have the skills of all the above, you can do it by out sourcing it
You didn't failed. Get up and take a fresh start: more organised and systematic this time.

      Cheers!

Your describing a job, not self employment.

This is the best advice in this thread.

      You said you love Design?

I'd suggest you do a bit of freelancing. Design a few cool things for your portfolio and get an account on some platform. freelancer.com, elance, upwork, whatever. There are the folks that can afford to spend money on their projects because they know how to do it.

Don't think about your money, think about providing real value to them. Take it as a paid internship.See what other jobs they are posting. Ask questions to understand their goals. But don't annoy your clients, always provide value. Yes, I wrote this the second time! Give and you will receive.

This way you will earn at least a little while learning a lot.

It takes time to make money online. The biggest misconception out there is it's an instant gold mine. If design is what you're passionate about, design is what you should pursue. Others have mentioned Fiverr.com, have you thought about working as a creative over on Logo Design, Web Design and Naming by the World's Best Creative Team | crowdSPRING

I love that site and know a lot of people that make good money in logo design.

The most important thing is you can't be focused all on the money. Focus on your passion and what you love and the money will come. In the meantime, keep grinding out your job. I know it sucks but you have to sustain yourself somehow.

Hang in there and don't consider yourself a failure. Success doesn't come overnight.

Sounds like you're looking for a job to supplement your income and not building a business at the current moment. Have you tried selling stuff on eBay? I know someone who started selling drop-ship products on eBay and she was making money within 2 weeks after she lost her job. I'm not an affiliate to the training product itself and I'm not interested in pitching the product but you may want to look into that. It does take patience and work tho. Good luck!

I Have Learned More from my Mistakes... Than my successes.

One of the more stupid things many schools do is punish kids for making mistakes. When those kids grow-up, many are terrified of making mistakes... clinging to job security, trusting their money to strangers, and living in fear of failing.

Mistakes are how we learn. Mistakes are really learning experiences. For example, most of us have learned to ride a bicycle by falling off a number of times. Each time we fall off, we get smarter, better able to balance and ride, once we learn to ride a bicycle, a whole new world opens to us. The same is true with money.

The best way we learn to create success is Doing The Real Thing. The reason many don't succeed is because they are afraid of making mistakes. Rather than getting down on ourselves, I believe it is more productive to learn from my mistakes. Personally I have financial freedom because I've made a lot of mistakes and have failed and have learned from them.

One of the reasons I recommend people to start small and make as many mistakes as possible and then learn from those mistakes because it's better to learn from small mistakes than big ones. If you get down on yourself for failing... you also avoid success.

    KEEP GOING!

I try and fail 90 percent of the time. It is the 10 percent of the time I knock it out of the ball park I really shoot for.

For those in this thread sugar coating it. STOP THAT. Yeah so what he failed? Stop telling him he did not. It does not change the facts and the fact is that is not a bad thing. When a baby learns to walk does he not fall? The baby needs to fall to truly learn to walk. FAILURE happens. Get over it. The winners are determined by those of us who can push through the failures and reach the successes.

By virtue of simply trying as hard as it appears you have done, you have not failed!

As a matter of fact, you are on your way to success by learning from what didn't work and moving on.

Find ONE method, put all your heart and soul into it again, study the method well, be consistent with your efforts and you will eventually succeed.

If I were you, I would pick Adsense niche marketing to get some income rolling in. This will take at least a year and 50 sites with at least 5 to 25 articles on each. I know it sounds like a lot of work because it really is! But if you want to be successful, you've got to put in the work.

Some of your sites will be successful and some won't. One or two of them will get you tons of traffic and Money$$. It's all a numbers game and the more sites you have, the more money you make. Authority sites are also ok but they generally take longer to see results.

Whatever you do, don't give up. You can do it if you really want to.

finally, one mistake you made is you failed to Joint Venture. Go to top graphic design blog, create stunning graphics and sell them on 99designs.com, Toon characters etc.

Ultimately you haven't failed until you give up.

You've just found something that didn't work. (Edison found 1,000 ways that didn't work when inventing the incandescent light ...)

The good news is that succeeding with IM is much easier than inventing something like the light bulb.

The next step is learning something from your "failures." Then they become part of the success process. As they say in NLP: "There's no such thing as failure, only feedback." So use that feedback to your advantage and to accomplish your IM dreams.

    Good luck. : )

The best way to keep motivated is to take a set incremental goals for yourself. That way you can plan how to accomplish them better. For instance lets say you wanna start by earning your 1st $100 in 1 month. Let us know what you are you are interested in and what skills you have and we can all chip in with suggestions.

Then after you get your feet wet you can step up your goals and get a feel for the areas that you really want to pursue. Realistic, achievable goals with a timeline help to keep you motivated.

Stick at it it does take time and my advice is that you should go get a part time job and then try and earn money though the internet as your other part time job. That way you still have a basic income coming in until you get started.

You need to develop a a daily regime.

    Here's mine;

    1. Blog commenting (5 quality posts)
    2. Forum commenting ( 5 quality posts)
    3. Write an article for a guest blog.
    4. Write an article for my blog

ust keep doing it day in day out and money will start to appear. You need to focus on what you key skills are, what sector were you working in previously?

If you are a designer Fiverr.com is a great place to start developing a reputation.

Don't give up is your first step to achieving your goals!

Keep trying and learn from your experiences. Don't be afraid to fail.

If you keep pushing and going there is no way you won't make it.

Learn from somebody who is able to show you from there experience.

Don't make excuses , give each day 100% make a commitment for this.

You need to focus and not listen to any of the distractions around you.

You must keep pushing forward no matter what, and fail forward!

Most importantly you must believe in yourself despite what others think!

As others have said, your haven't failed as long as you are still trying. I'm in the same boat. I just haven't been successful yet. Someone above mentioned Thomas Edison as an example. He didn't fail 1000s of timed before he invented the light bulb. He just found 1000s of ways that didn't work.

OK you're posting that you failed... What did you do that makes you consider it a failure?

It seems you already know why you have failed "i took on too much, tried to many things and never grasped each idea fully.."

I can totally relate to that and I'm sure lots of people reading this thread will too.

So just do the opposite, choose 1 thing and stick to it until it's a success. Don't get distracted by the next shiny object. Easier said than done I know, but just keep laser focused on your goal.

I'm sure you have enough ideas now to think about what it is you want to do.

Just choose 1 thing and go for it!

    Hey ! so here's my 2 cent...

Now you love the design aspect + you understand that the world wide web is driven by content...

Therefore would it not make logical sense to start by creating content educating people on what you're good at or as some others have suggested sell your skills as a service... there are many platforms out there that you can bid or advertise yourself for work - to get you started.

    example:

    http://www.fiverr.com

    http://www.odesk.com

..and you have not failed, because the master has failed more times than the student ever has. so look on the bright side, learn new skills; hone in on your passion and master your craft !

Hope this helps, PM me if you want a "honest" chat sometime... no B.S !
