Why are domain prices all over the place?

I want to purchase a domain, so first of all I went to HostGator to purchase a domain and a web host. But HostGator didn't let me know I had to provide a picture of my ID, so they agreed to provide a full refund.

I really need my domain, and I prefer to use PayPal. I went to GoDaddy, and my domain was available for the amazing price of 0.99 for the first year, however they don't accept PayPal...

I went to NameCheap and Enom, but they are $10.69(namecheap) or $20.00(enom)

Is there any domain registrar that will offer me my domain name for $9.00 USD or under, that also accepts PayPal?

    Paypal allows you to use your credit card to make purchases. I have done that with Godaddy many times.

    You can use paypal with godaddy, but I don't think it works if you use a coupon code.

    There is very little profit margin for a registrar on domain names. That's why you see different price points. The challenge for any registrar is to get you IN, then try to make you stay. Many registrars break even on your initial registration fee. Then they upsell you to various services, and renewal fees are typically higher. When GoDaddy offers the .99 deal, they are taking a severe loss, but their renewal fees are much higher than most other registrars ($15/yr).

    Have you searched for Namecheap coupon code? They always have coupons you can use to make a small saving. You could find one that knocks the fee down to $9. Search google. Do the same for Name.com
