Has Facebook ever HURT someone's business?

I have a facebook page for my business that is located near my main site, under Google's search results.

So in other words, whoever searches for my business, finds the facebook page too.

I write an ebook with sexual advice for men, so it's not something men necessarily want the world knowing they purchased. So it's been like pulling teeth to get reviews.

I only have a couple reviews (6 to be exact), so it doesn't look like a big booming business... and conversions FEEL like they've reduced since this facebook page has gained ranking, but it's hard to tell, there are a number of other factors that could account for lower conversions (like the reduced amount of visits lately).

So what do you think?

I'm torn between keeping the page, (and working hard to get reviews, or coming up with a system that can somehow get reviews), or just deleting the page altogether...

Anybody? Experience or advice?

Thanks

They don't object to writing reviews. They object to
you publishing their name with the review.

Ask them to write reviews with the provision that you
    won't publish their full name.

Under the review you show the author as Mark in Seattle
or whatever their name and city.

Keep the full reviews and contact info on file in case
any kind of legal issue arises and you have to prove the
    reviews are legit.

Hi T, exactly the issue I have.

They provide me with feedback via email, but don't want their names published

Problem is, on facebook, once you put a review, it comes from your profile... so everyone knows who it is.... no way to put it anonymous

  • I think this is a serious issue with the review process. Their friends will also see it, I think. You could have them send you the review personally via email and you post it in a separate post.

You are right about they will never give you reviews trough FB page.

Keep the review on your site.

Use the FB page to give tips and drive traffic to your site.

I had a former favorite marketer who was using his facebook to rant on his political leanings..what a turn off that was....would never buy from him again.
