I haven't seen this term in awhile. What I remember though is it's considered blackhat and Google penalizes you for it.

Doorway pages are web pages that are created for spamdexing. This is for spamming the index of a search engine by inserting results for particular phrases with the purpose of sending visitors to a different page. They are also known as bridge pages, portal pages, jump pages, gateway pages, entry pages and by other names. Doorway pages that redirect visitors without their knowledge use some form of cloaking. This usually falls under Black Hat SEO.

Whether or not it is considered a Doorway page is dependent on whether or not that page provides real value to the person who lands on it. If the primary purpose is to move that person to a 'main' website, is it a doorway page. If the purpose is to provide value to the visitor on its own, without making them click through to another website/page to get the vlaue they're looking for, that's fine.

If Google views your blog post as having independent value it is not a doorway page.

If the blog post is generic and has no real value except to present an affiliate link, then you will likely have a problem.

I agree with Kindsvater, you can toe the line for the sake of backlinks but if you don't create enough quality your site will be penalized

So, you're into affiliate marketing? If you are, then you can safely put an affiliate link on your page IF you back it up with an informative article / blog post.
