Where do you buy your domain name?

Namecheap you get free privacy on your .coms for the first year and they often run promotions and discounts.

Now, I use namecheap. Free Privacy for first year. Go to Google and search namecheap coupon for standard discount.

Namecheap for me - free privacy for the first year, cheap pricing for it in subsequent years, checkout process that doesn't feature a gazillion upsells.

A resounding yes to namecheap.com from me. They are excellent. I frequently get really really good offers

I register both my domain name + hosting with godaddy.

So far I'm have no problem with them.

I always use namescheap but yesterday I came across a site offering .coms for 0.99c so I bought one but I received the letter saying I had the domain but I cant log into the account to transfer and when I checked namescheap the domain was still available.
Waiting on customer service now to try to sort it all out...

Maybe you will have better luck than me as a 0.99c domain is the cheapest Ive seen though with the problems Ive been having I think Ill stick with namescheap!

Namecheap is an Enom reseller, but they provide most tech support. In unusual cases you'll be working with Namecheap support as a middleman between you and Enom.

GoDaddy sells direct from the registry.

I have used GoDaddy in the past, but don't use them anymore because their prices have gone up. I switched to NameCheap and I have to say I am pleased with their service.

I've used all the registrars listed here over the past 10 years. By far, my favorite is one that has not been mentioned. Uniregistry.com

Started off with GoDaddy (like most of us) and I've tried a few over the years, namecheap has been offering solid value for a while so I going forward with them for now.

Definitely Namecheap, been a customer for 7+ years. Support response time is awesome! I always google namecheap coupon "month year" and there it is for my taking and plus i don't need to buy the privacy guard protection.

I Prefer Godaddy

First Because Is Cheap Compared with other Competitors

Second It's More Secure

Third integrated with all hostings and site builder

Finaly because It's High Brand And Have Million Of Users Around The World

for most of my domains I like and use namecheap.

For .UK and.EU domains I use 123Reg

I bought all my domains from name.com and had no problems so far.

But as Mohamed said, NameSilo seems a good option too

Namecheap is really reliable and affordable. I have 2 domains hosted there.

I only use GoDaddy as its cheap. There are plenty of coupon codes available. All I do with godaddy is buy and sell within a year's time and earn quick profits.

I am truly shocked and upset-ANGRY at the amount of marketers using godaddy. They have supported every bill the USA government has thrown up to control the internet like SOPA. What is wrong with you people? Do you like the freedom to earn an income online? Do you want to keep that freedom? Well stop funding those who fund campaigns to limit that freedom.

I am utterly disgusted. Disgrace.

When choosing a place to buy your domain you must also look at what they are doing with your money and if they are funding laws and bills to limit and destroy your business and still you give them money you must really rethink if you should even have a business at all.

So basically all they did was pay others to do the support for them while officially withdrawing there verbal support. The fact that they chose to support it in the first place shows they do not care about there customers

I've used NetworkSolutions, GoDaddy NameCheap..

I was waiting for such a discussion.. Surprised none mentioned them yet!

NameBright is my choice for domain registration for the following reasons:

1. Excellent system, very easy, very straight-forward, down to details, advanced and scalable (when you need to bulk reg/edit domains).

2. Excellent price - they charge at the moment $8.53. As far as I know, it's almost bare minimum. And bulk prices go lower. Privacy also free.

3. Excellent support, here's a story of how I got 5 domains for FREE:

This doesn't happen a lot, it's actually very rare - and I do actively register domains with them.. One time, I registered 5 domains at once (bulk).
At some point of the order funnel there was an error (I think it was the checkout - after payment confirmation is clicked, not sure though).
The system briefly showed me some error message which I didn't have the chance to read and then redirected me to another page.
And the transaction? I don't know, no mention of it. My cart was empty.

So I took a look at my account, and the domains were not there.
So, I tried again to register the domains, but I was blocked - the system told me the domains were not available!!!
I checked with an external WHOIS provider, to see who now officially owns the domains - and it was NameBright!!!!
I filed a customer service ticket.

They quickly detected the problem and replied back with an email;
They explained to me that there was some internal issue, domains got stuck in the queue or something, and I get the domains free of charge, because of the inconvenience. Just like that!

I let you judge for yourself. I was waiting for such a thread to tell that story because they definitely deserve the credit.

Namecheap gets you WhoIS Guard as well, I believe, for free. I've always used namecheap

namecheap,hostgator(if you get it at hostgator you should get your hosting and domain both there as its cheaper and the platform is easier to use with a domain from them) and 1&1.com if you are on a budget as you can get a domain for a dollar for your first year

I bought with several domain registrars because they for cheap on most times and if one registrar raises the price, then I could atleast save some money form other registrar.

Currently Godaddy has high renewal price so those who bought 100's of domains will face problems.

Some people might get problems with currency because of no Credit Card.

There are many places to buy domain. I see already you mentioned the 2 most familiar domain selling sites. Godaddy & Namecheap. I think both of these site is working good & they are the leading company. You can use any of these site. Yes, You buy only Domain. You choose any another site for Hosting.

I use godaddy and namecheap , godaddy more often , no particular reason , just a habit , i have gotten used to them .

Namecheap for domains and Bluehost for hosting.

Uniregistry, Namesilo and Namebright are on my list of other options for future purchases.

For .com domain registration, Namecheap.com price is higher than GoDaddy.com because it comes with free whois gaurd.

Huge price difference, makes GoDaddy and Namecheap different.

If you go to Oceandesigns.net you can search godaddy, 1and1, etc it will instantly show if the domain name. The search will quickly tell you if the name is available if not will give suggestions and will show you who has the lowest price.

I've used Namecheap for a few years as well. They're extremely reliable, easy to use and offer great support. I've never used GoDaddy, but I don't particularly like their advertising gimmicks and pricing. They try to sell you on everything, probably because they've gained traction with a lot of people who don't know any better. I'm not saying they aren't a good provider, I just think there are better options.

I only use namecheap.com. Sometimes, it's a little more expensive than godaddy. I like namecheap's user interface while buying a domain. They don't try to sell whole lot of stuff while buying a domain. Also, in the backend it's a lot easier to manage the domain on namecheap. When it comes to interaction with the customer support, godaddy is a lot better than many other registrars.

My first choice is Profithoster, because their customer support is excellent. I remembered months ago I have installed untested wp plugins to my wordpress blog, it causes me can not login to my dashboard. I submit a ticket to Profithoster, hours later the person in charge reply me that he had disabled all the plugins, so that I cant login to my wp-admin again.

I have many times contacting their customer support and their responses are good and I am satisfied with it.

I've used GoDaddy, NameCheap, 1and1 to buy domains but I never host at the same registrars. GoDaddy is the one I use most because, though they are not the cheapest, the service is good and dependable and I can still use coupons to get a better deal most of the time.

I get most of my domains from namecheap, unless I'm feeling to too cheap and want to dig around for $0.99 godaddy coupons

+1 for Uniregistry. The cleanest system I've used & very secure.

Namecheap when buying from scratch and bought hundreds from them

GoDaddy only by necessity when either acquiring a site from someone who just happens to have registered with them or using their Domain Buy service to buy something someone else is squatting on.

Anything I do end up getting and keeping from Godaddy always ends up being transferred to my namecheap as soon as possible.
