What is a unique article?

Hi,

One can read a lot about unique articles being important etc.

Could someone please tell me what a unique article is. I mean I understand the word but is my article still unique, according to Google, if out of 500 words 300 were matching another article (checked with CS)?

If I rewrite an article, do I have to make it 100% unique or 50-30% will be enough?

thanks,

You want to aim for at least 50% unique. You want to chane the structure rather than a few words.

    For example....

"Article marketing is used by many marketers around the world as a means to promote their products and services".

    And...

"People all over the world use article marketing to generate sales by offering helpful information and persuading them to look further into the products or services that they offer."

Those two sentences are similar in context but different in structure. You want to avoid just changing one or two words and replacing a few synonyms. You want to rewrite the information in an new way.

By doing this you will reach about 60 - 75% uniqueness almost all the time.

search engines tend to use shingling to detect duplicates. It's VERY tough to get something to the point where no other document published on the web doesn't contain at least one shingle from your document.

I generally find that at the moment, if you get it above 35%, you're normally in the clear as far as google is concerned. No doubt that will increase as the months go by, and they improve their algos.

You could never really reach 100% uniqueness. There will be similarities with all articles no matter what the subject. I can rewrite an article so that it gives exactly the same info as another article yet they will be completely unqie from each as far as the SE's are concerned and will pass copyscape 100%.

All you have have to do is change the contextual pattern.

Being unique enough to pass CS and Google is not the same as being unique enough to avoid plagiarism, so the question "what is an unique article?" has a different answer in different context.

If you copy or rewrite an article that you do not have the rights to, just because you pass CS, does not mean you didn't plagiarize the material. People often assume that CS is the law, which it clearly isn't.

I am no way implying your intent is this, but I just wanted to add that for clarity in case someone took it that way.

Right, but in this case everything in today's world is a rewrite of someone else work.

it should be original in nature and must be presented in a creative and presentable fashion.
