How to protect myself when selling sites?

Hey guys, I am wondering how do I protect myself when selling websites so that I cannot be scammed or the buyer cannot issue a chargeback and scam me that way e.t.c

Also whats the best payment method to use, escrow...paypal...?

Just sell on trusted sites like dp, warrior forum, dnfourm and also check buyer's ratings and itrade. I use paypal as payment method for selling sites. I have never scammed yet.

    Hi there,

I would agree to just sell on trusted sites. I would avoid ebay and dp (digital point), they seem to be the most common ones that people have had bad experiences with.

I recently sold a site on Sitepoint.com which I believe is now called Flippa, and would definately recommend it. I used Paypal with no problems but if I was to do it again in the future, especially with higher priced websites I would probably opt for escrow.com which I believe is "built in" to Flippa.

So firstly, use a trusted site like Flippa.com, and secondly, only accept offers from people that have a positive rating, a confirmed phone number and onfirmed address etc.

The chances of being scammed that way are pretty slim and you'd have to be very unlucky.

    Hope this helps.

    Matt

If you are selling a website then make sure that you either use escrow or bank transferring systems. Don't reveal the login credentials before getting the payment.

I know many people who have been scammed by buyers using Paypal. What happens is that a few weeks after the transaction is complete, the buyers file a claim with Paypal and of course Paypal rolls over and issues a refund. In fact, I know several people this has happened to and honestly I would never take Paypal as a form of payment for a domain.
