Things to consider when selling an Ebook

Hello Warriors,

This one is for the seasoned E-book pros out here. Are there any legal matters you must address/include before you can start selling your ebook (such as a disclaimer/legal notice/disclosures/etc)?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not really an e-book seller but if you're offering medical/health advice, you're definitely going to want to include a disclaimer in there. Google health or medical disclaimers, look at a few, and then use that info to write your own. I'll even let you use mine as an example from one of my websites: Tea Herbal Tea it's on the bottom of the page.

Medical in particular is touchy because you don't want someone coming back later, claiming you told them to do something that ended up damaging their health.

I hope this info helped. Best wishes on your future endeavors.

yes having disclaimer/legal notice/disclosures are very important like curiozities pointed out.

Also if working in health or medical I would suggest disclosing the resources and studies of where the information was obtained and documented.

All of my ebooks have a disclaimer in the front of them, whether they are fiction or business related. I tailor them to whatever niche they're in.

I created them by looking at other people's disclaimer and pieced together a Frankenstein's monster.

Whatever you do, don't light a fire near it.

When you sell Ebook you must consider this things to do: GOOD COVERS, GOOD PRODUCT DESCRIPTION, GOOD BOOKS, GOOD PRICE, VOLUME, SOCIAL MEDIA AND ADVERTISING, PLATFORMS, FOREIGN SALES, AGENTS etc. But I don't recommend searching for one until you've sold a lot of ebooks. 50,000 is a good number. And I said sell, not give away for free.

Yep - disclaimers, copyright statements for sure. Also - don't steal other people's words or images, make wildly unreasonable claims, or use Trademarked phrases, names or logo's and if you can, provide case studies of early users who can vouch for your system/information.

I will chime in with the others and say that you need Disclaimers and Disclosures ALWAYS in the very beginning of the email

Yes, disclaims are always good to have whatever your eBook subject may be.

Yes a disclaimer is always good no matter what your ebook is about.

It should have a copyright page. It's usually the verso of the title page, this page carries the copyright notice, edition information, publication information, printing history, cataloging data, legal notices, and the books ISBN or identification number. In addition, rows of numbers are sometimes printed at the bottom of the page to indicate the year and number of the printing. Credits for design, production, editing and illustration are also commonly listed on the copyright page.

Think of the copyright page as the place where the publisher tries to get all its work done, take care of legal and bibliographic necessities, before getting out of the way of the author.

  • Make sure you have you copyrite at the bottom of each page e.g.:
Copyright © 2015 by Sheldon Arendse – All rights reserved

And have the whole this book is under copyrite by "YOUR NAME" ...etc in the front of the book. Also add your earnings & legal disclaimer e.g.:
    __________________________________________________ _______________________________
"This e-book is under copyright by Sheldon Arendse. You have permission to sell this e-book as a stand alone product, or an upsell or down sell or you may give it away as a bonus, as long as you do not make any changes or edits, whatsoever, to its contents, digital format or links (I Sheldon Arendse retain all attribution rights to this e-book). You may not pass it along for free to anyone ever. In fact, I would appreciate it if you could pass the link below along to others and send them this link http://bit.ly/How-To-Make-A-Million-Dollars-X-100 so they can download the 1st CHAPTER FOR FREE themselves.

Well, I think, Disclaim is always good, it doesn't matter what is the subject or topic for an ebook.
