Let me clear this up for you. Wordpress.com is the free version of Wordpress, where you can create a free blog and have Wordpress host it for you. It's like having a blogspot blog on blogger. You basically get a sub domain on its server (i.e. yourname.Wordpress.com or whatever it is. When using the free version of Wordpress, it does come with certain restrictions. You don't own the content, so Wordpress can decide to get rid of your blog if they want to. You also can't use affiliate links and stuff on the free blogging platform.

Wordpress.org is the place you can go to find out about all the latest things going on with Wordpress -- download the latest version, find out about new plugins and themes and stuff like that. Next, I'm going to talk about how these things differ from how we marketers generally use Wordpress in terms of making money online.

When it comes to making money online and creating niche blogs (created around a particular theme like golf, dating, electronics, etc...and generally consist of product reviews and articles about stuff going on in your chosen niche) on our own domains (to control content and so on), Wordpress is the standard. It's easy to use and got a lot of stuff to make your blog fancy -- even for the non-techie.

When you decide you want to start a site to promote something like a dating product, you purchase a domain and hosting. After you've purchased hosting, you can go into your control panel and install Wordpress on the domain via a free plugin (used to be called Fantasico but recently moved to something else). This means that you can have a blog on your own domain (i.e. yourname.com) that has the functionality of Wordpress when you log into it and want to upload themes, content and stuff like that.

In short, when you want to create a niche blog for the purposes of making money, you should buy a domain name, get hosting, and install Wordpress on said domain. Starting a list is also a good idea, but I don't want to give you too much at once. I hope this makes some sense.

just go for .org because it will give you freedom to install plugins that are not available in .com .....if you just want to write a blog just for youself and to showoff to some people use .com otherwise .org is the best ....

If you want Wordpress to host the website for you (yourusername.wordpress.com) then use wordpress.com

If you want to download and install the latest version of wordpress for your own website (domain.com) then use wordpress.org
