Product creation-can I "borrow and repackage"?

Hello,

I few years ago I attended a very expensive seminar dealing with importing from China where I received pages and pages of information, booklets, CDs, etc.

I am not an experienced Internet Marketer at all but I now have a bit of experience importing. So I would like to know your opinion whether its ok to compile my notes from the seminar, information from the booklets, CDs etc and create my own kindle book? Or maybe even a course with weekly emails (find the product, contact suppliers...)? Would that violate any copyrights of the original course?

Thank you for your feedback.

If you rewrite everything with your own words,it`s OK.If you copypaste ,it`s illegal.

Actually, it's plagiarism. It is a derivative product and if they wanted to sue, they could.

Not if he just takes the general ideas and writes up his own explanation of them.

      You can't copyright an idea.

That is not what was suggested above - the word "rewrite" eliminates your "own explanation".

What you describe is the difference between "reference or research material" and "plagiarism".

You shouldn't just distribute these materials, you only can post your opinion about them.

Unfortunately this is not legal. I wouldn't do this if I were you.

There are so many problems with this idea.

Sounds like you got the materials but didn't utilize them - so you have no idea if this is valuable information or filler crap.

"A few years ago" is light years when you are talking about the internet and selling online.

It's plagiarism - the advice to "rewrite" is advice to plagiarize with derivative copy.

      You do say

"I now have a bit of experience importing".

Why not write about what YOU know, YOUR experience with importing? Would be better and more recent than a bunch of old seminar materials.

How is this NOT legal ? He is not saying he is copying word from word from it.

He plainly states he is using "notes" he complied.

So ANY ideas you might learn from Frank Kern, Eben Pagan or any Marketer for that matter are off limits as far as making your own Product with your own take on these ideas ?

If this is true then 100% or at least 99.9% of Product Creators would be guilty lol

Thank you everyone for your replies, I guess I am just struggling with the whole "nothing is new under the sun" and the concepts that are outlined in the materials are a) either readily available scattered through the Internet or b) tips and tricks that are less known, but now that I have applied them and used them myself. Totally agree with not just copying and pasting and it sounds like if I write purely about my experience with using their techniques I should be ok.

  • Rather read three to four more books on the topic you wish to write about, and then make notes in your own words about the subject matter and then write a book about the best methods you've discovered that work for you from the information you have gathered.

That way the information is unique to you, and you will own the copyrite to your original work.

Am I missing something here ?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this.

If you are implying by "compile my Notes" that you absorbed all this stuff and then processed it and then wrote about what you learned and observed ( by your notes).

There is nothing wrong with this.

    At all.

It is how GREAT things are produced in this World...

learning from others and then putting things in your own words by using 'notes' you took on it and adding some of your own twists from your personal experiences as well

but I now have a bit of experience importing.

Write or dictate your EXPERIENCE, as bit ly as is might be. LOTS of potential if you provide a step by step here is what I did, then, you could partner up with an affiliate program for back ends.

Writing about YOUR experience, is one way you have no worries about your content.

A small report could be a launching pad for you.
